Delhi does not belong to only Arvind Kejriwal: Congress MP

Akhilesh Singh, Congress MP from Bihar, has condemned Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's statement wherein he had said that people from Bihar would come to Delhi to avail free medical services. Singh said the comment was not required and would harm him politically in the next assembly elections.

New Delhi: Terming Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's statement that people from outside the national capital would come to the city for free medical treatment as "childish", Congress MP Akhilesh Singh on Monday said that Delhi belongs to all Indians and the comment would harm the chief minister.

"He should not have made such a comment. Delhi belongs to every Indian," he told ETV Bharat here. The Congress Rajya Sabha MP from Muzaffarpur said that it's not only Delhi Chief Minister who has worked for the city of Delhi but others have also contributed in making Delhi what it is today. People come here not only from Bihar but from other states too. It the national capital. It does not belong to only him," he added.

Kejriwal on Sunday, while speaking about the improved healthcare facilities in the national capital said that people from across the country come here for various treatments. He gave the example of patients from Bihar availing the facilities in Delhi hospitals free of cost.

"One person from Bihar buys a ticket to Delhi for Rs 500, returns after availing treatment worth Rs 5 lakh. While this makes us happy that these are the people of our country, Delhi has its own capacity. How can Delhi serve the people of the entire country, so there is a need for improving the healthcare facilities across the nation," the chief minister said.
