Delegation of 25 foreign envoys to meet Ajit Doval today

The foreign envoys, who were on a visit to the newly-formed Union Territory to witness the ground situation in the region six months after the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution, will meet NSA Ajit Doval.

New Delhi: The delegation of 25 foreign envoys, which undertook a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, will meet National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval today.

Official sources said that a delegation of diplomats, who were staying in Srinagar last night, met GOC Lt. Gen. JS Dhillon at the army's 15th Corps headquarters in Badami Bagh area on Thursday morning, who briefed the delegation on the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir.

The delegation later met various parties including Lt Governor Girish Chandra Murmu, Chief Secretary BVR Subramaniam, Chief Justice Geeta Mittal of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court.

The third delegation,comprising of 25 members from different countries, which arrived in Srinagar on Wednesday, met with various political leaders and journalists besides various public delegations at the Lalit Grand Hotel in Gupkar following a tour of Dal Lake under a tight security arrangement and the supervision of drone cameras.

Following the abrogation of Section 370 and Section 35A which gave Jammu and Kashmir it's special status, and the Central Government's decision to bifurcate the state into two centrally governed UTs, this was the third visit of a foreign delegation to Kashmir.

Earlier, an European delegation consisting of 23 members arrived in the valley on October 29, 2019 to assess the ground situation in the valley, while a second delegation comprising 15 foreign diplomats arrived in the valley on January 9, and met with a few select officials and journalists.

It is noteworthy that the delegation's visit to foreign diplomacy came when two former Chief Ministers, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, have been booked under the Public Safety Act.
