Bengaluru: One more person, who was allegedly involved in the violence in the city, has died from injuries, Bengaluru police commissioner Kamal Pant said on Saturday. At least 35 more arrests were made on Saturday. So far 340 suspects have been taken into custody.
The toll in the violence has gone up to four including three in police firing on August 11.
"He (accused Syed Nadeem) was in jail since 12th (August). Last night Nadeem came to Bowring Hospital with chest pain. Probably some hard object had hit him in the abdomen," Pant told reporters.
According to police, Nadeem, 24, was arrested in connection with the violence at Devara Jeevanahalli.
"He tested positive for the coronavirus infection and was sent to hospital on Friday.
Pant denied police firing caused his death. "Nothing to do with bullets," he said.
"An FIR is registered at DJ Halli Police Station on the complaint of MLA Srinivas Murthy. As per the complaint, 2,000-3,000 people set his house and other properties including vehicles, on fire on August 11. Gold and silver items, vehicles and other things worth Rs 3 crore were robbed as per the complaint," said the Police.
"Complaint was filed by the MLA three days after the incident. The MLA said he was unable to come out of trauma after his house was burnt," the police added.
Meanwhile, the imposition of Section 144 of Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) in areas under DJ Halli and KG Halli police station limits has also been extended till 6 am on August 18. The situation in the area remains tense. Section 144 has been extended twice in the area.

Yesterday, 84 people were arrested for their involvement in the riots.
The violence in D J Halli and adjoining areas on Tuesday night was unleashed by hundreds of people over a purportedly inflammatory social media post allegedly put out by P Naveen, a relative of Murthy.
The MLA's residence and a police station at DJ Halli were torched by rioters who also set many police and private vehicles afire, and looted the belongings of the legislator and his sister.
Two Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) leaders Muzamil Pasha and Kaleem Pasha have been arrested for reportedly inciting the violence in the city over a 'communally sensitive' post.
On August 11, areas under Pulakeshinagar assembly constituency in Bengaluru resembled a war zone after an unruly mob went on a rampage torching vehicles and set the police vans on fire. Charred vehicles, shards of glass from broken windows, stones and bricks lie strewn over the deserted roads of the violence-affected localities. Karnataka Tourism Minister CT Ravi and Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya have requested Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa to attach properties of those involved in the riot.
