Pulwama: One jawan of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was injured in an IED blast in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district on Sunday, Kashmir Zone police said.
According to reports, the low-intensity blast of the Improvised Explosive Device was carried out by the suspected terrorists moments after a CRPF convoy passed through Gangoo village in South Kashmir.
The security forces fired few shots in the air after the blast and the injured CRPF jawan sustained minor splinter injury and was evacuated to Unit MI room, but his condition is stated to be stable, a police official said.
The explosion caused panic in the area. Additional security forces have reached the spot that has been cordoned off and a search operation launched.
This is the second attack on CRPF in this week. Earlier, on June 1, a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel and a 65-year-old civilian were killed in north Kashmir's Sopore town.
During the terrorist attack, the Jammu and Kashmir police saved a three-year-old boy from getting hit by bullets.
