New Delhi: The Congress on Thursday said that a criminal cannot be identified with the color of his dress or the religion that he may be following.
The statement, aimed to clarify Congress' stand on the controversy that got generated after senior party leader Digvijaya Singh reportedly said that "some people wearing saffron robes are involved in rape", was made by the Congress national spokesperson Pranav Jha here at the party headquarters.
"Criminal is a criminal. His dress or religion has nothing to do with it," he said.
Singh made the controversial statement at a ‘Sant Samagam’ was organized by Madhya Pradesh government's spiritual department in Bhopal recently.
