New Delhi: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) today welcomed the order passed by Supreme Court on electoral Bond scheme initiated by the Modi government.
On Thursday, the Supreme Court had said if the identity of donors buying electoral funds was not known, the government's efforts to check black money in polls would be futile.
The CPIM alleged that this move by the Modi government would have made the entire Election System prone to crony capitalism with the clear basis of Quid Pro quo with the ruling party. They further said that the government was dead opposed to making funding transparent and also questioned the Attorney General's statement in which he said that it is not the concern of the voters to know where the money is coming from.
In its press release, the CPIM said " the interim judgment has brought in some degree of accountability by making it mandatory for the political parties to place their collection from the electoral bonds and the details in front of the election commission by May 30th in a sealed envelope. The interim order promise that the seriousness of the issue and its bearing on the very nature of a democracy warrants more in depth examination".
