New Delhi: Terming the upcoming general elections as one the most crucial polls in the history of independent India, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Thursday, released its party manifesto and outlined on three major highlights that the party would focus on in the upcoming elections.
The party's first and foremost aim was to defeat the BJP alliance, followed by a stronger presence of the Left in the Lok Sabha. The final aim was to ensure an alternative secular government at the Centre.
The party in its manifesto has also promised to give reservation to the SC and ST in the private sector, if they are elected to power.
Speaking over the weakening left front in West Bengal, senior CPI(M) Hanan Mollah said, " We are in a state of deep crisis in West Bengal. We are not being able to recoverbecause the TMC goons are stopping us from rebuilding our cadre in the state. The Mamta Banerjee government is a party of goons, run by goons and for the goons."
He further stated that there is no law and order in the state and it has been gripped by anarchy.
Mollah also highlighted that the party manifesto has solutions for the agrarian crisis that promises MSP of more than 50% that of the manufacturing cost.
During its release, CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury said, "A secular government is required which can defend our Constitutional Republic. Only after it is consolidated, we will be able to think of people's welfare and for which a radical shift in the current policy is required. We, therefore, appeal to the people to enable the CPI(M) have a strong presence in the 17th Lok Sabha."
Yechury further said, "It is clear that there is no shortage of resources in our country, but the current loot of resources by the crony capitalists like Ambani and Adani and corruption scams like Rafael is preventing from creation of opportunities to the common man."
"In our manifesto, we have called for a stronger welfare state, which is pro-education and healthcare, free from communal polarisation."
Also, the party has released an election song for their campaign during the event.
