Tally in HP crosses 3,900-mark with 33 fresh cases

The COVID-19 tally in Himachal Pradesh reached 3,908 on Saturday with 33 more people testing positive for the disease, an official said.

There are 1,274 active cases in the state, while a total of 2,580 patients have recovered from the infection so far, Additional Chief Secretary (Health) R D Dhiman said.

TN reports 5,860 cases

5,860 new positive cases, 5,236 discharges and 127 deaths reported in Tamil Nadu on Saturday.

According to the  State Health Department, the total number of cases now at 3,32,105 including 54,213 active cases, 2,72,251 discharges and 5,641 deaths.

Rajasthan recorded 686 fresh coronavirus cases and 13 deaths due to the disease on Saturday, taking the state's infection tally to 59,378.

The COVID-19 death toll in the state stands at 859, officials said.

Ex-India cricketer Chetan Chauhan's health deteriorates
Former India cricketer Chetan Chauhan's medical condition has deteriorated after suffering kidney failure and has been put on ventilator support at the Medanta hospital in Gurugram.

Chetan Chauhan had also tested positive for coronavirus in July after which he was admitted in the Sanjay Gandhi PGI hospital in Lucknow. He was later admitted to the Medanta hospital.

1,863 cases and 10 deaths reported in Telangana

As many as 1,863 COVID-19 cases and 10 deaths were reported from Telangana on Friday, taking the total number of cases to 90,259 in the state.

According to the State Health Department, the total number of cases includes 23,379 active cases, 66,196 recoveries, and 684 deaths so far.

Maha minister Balasaheb Patil tests positive for coronavirus

Maharashtra Cooperation Minister Balasaheb Patil has tested positive for coronavirus infection and is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Karad.

According to a statement issued by Patil's office, the NCP leader tested positive for the infection on Friday night and has been admitted to Krushna Hospital in Karad.

Patil, who is also the guardian minister of Satara, has urged people who had come in contact with him recently to get themselves tested and remain in isolation for at least a week, the statement said.

Pondy reports 369 more coronavirus cases

Puducherry's COVID-19 caseload climbed to 7,355 on Saturday with 369 more people testing positive to the virus while the toll stood at 106.
Puducherry region accounted for a big chunk of cases in the Union Territory during last 24 hours ending 10 am on Saturday registering 317 fresh infections on a single day.

Director of Health and Family Welfare S Mohan Kumar said in a release that 369 new cases were identified after examination of 1,089 samples during the last 24 hours. 

He said that 3025 cases were active, while 4,224 patients recovered and were discharged so far.

MLA among 95 fresh COVID-19 cases in Arunachal; death toll mounts to 5

"Arunachal Pradesh's COVID-19 caseload rose to 2,607 on Saturday as 95 more people, including a legislator, tested positive for the infection,
while one more fatality pushed its coronavirus death toll to five," a health official said.

"Fifty paramilitary personnel are among the new patients," he said.

COVID LIVE: 65,002 new cases take India's tally to 25,26,192; death toll rises to 49,036

Hyderabad: A spike of 65,002 cases took India's COVID-19 tally past 25 lakh on Saturday just a day after it reached the 24-lakh mark, while 18 lakh people have so far recuperated from the disease pushing the recovery rate to 71.61 per cent, Union health ministry data showed.

India has been reporting over 60,000 cases daily since August 7, barring August 11 when the country registered 53,601 new instances of the infection. 

The COVID-19 caseload stood at 25,26,192, while the death-toll climbed to49,036 with 996 people succumbing to the disease in 24 hours, the data updated on Saturday at 8 am showed.

The case fatality rate has declined to 1.94 per cent.

There are 6,68,220, active cases of coronavirus infection in the country which is 26.45 per cent of the total caseload, while the number of recoveries has risen to 18,08,936.

India's COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7.
