Mumbai: Maharashtra continued to surge ahead in the Covid-19 cases making it the worst-hit in the country. The state recorded fresh 2,091 coronavirus cases, crossing 54,000 mark. There are currently 36,004 active cases in the state.
The total number of active cases in Maharashtra stands at 54,758 and death toll due to Covid-19 in the state rose to 1,792. A total of 16,954 patients have been discharged.
"The total number of covid-19 patients are now doubling in the state over a period of two weeks, however death rate has declined," said state officials.
Maharashtra also recorded its highest single-day casualties, with 97 deaths on Tuesday. Officials said that there has been a slight dip in the number of Covid-19 cases
A meeting of CM Uddhav Thackeray with his alliance partners at his official residence is underway to discuss about the ongoing lockdown. Lifting the lockdown in some areas will also be discussed in the meeting.
The attendees are also expected to share their ideas and plans in order to control the spread of COVID-19 across the state.
