AP reports 8,695 recoveries, 7073 fresh COVID-19 cases, 48 deaths

Andhra Pradesh added 7,073 new cases of Covid-19 taking the overall tally to 6,61,458 today. The latest bulletin said the total recoveries touched 5,88,169 after 8,695 were discharged in 24 hours ending 9 am today. Also, 48 fatalities were reported in 24 hours, increasing the overall toll to 5,606.

J-K reports 1,218 fresh COVID-19 cases, 21 deaths

As many as 1,218 fresh COVID-19 cases took Jammu and Kashmir's infection tally to 69,832 on Friday, while 21 more fatalities pushed the death toll to 1,105, officials said. The union territory has reported more than 1,000 fresh cases for 23 consecutive days now. "The UT recorded 1,218 fresh cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours -- with 642 in Jammu and 576 in the Kashmir Valley," the officials said. The cumulative figure of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir has now risen to 69,832.

Goa reported 519 COVID-19 cases and three deaths from the infection on Friday, taking the coastal state's count to 31,071 and toll to 386, while 724 people were discharged from hospitals during the day, an official said.

Assam reduces quarantine to 24 hours for incoming passengers

Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today announced that people coming into the state will undergo RT-PCR tests and will be given the result within 24 hrs, thereby reducing the quarantine time from 10 days to 24 hours. Anyone who has recovered from COVID will not be required to undergo quarantine or testing on arrival, he said.

Varun Dhawan undergoes COVID-19 test before starting shoot  

Actor Varun Dhawan today took to social media to share that he has undertaken a COVID-19 test, as a precautionary measure, before returning to the sets. The 33-year-old actor shared a picture and a video on his Instagram page, in which he is seen with a healthcare professional, who is clad in a PPE suit. Dhawan is seen undergoing a swab test for COVID-19. The actor also urged his fans to maintain social distancing and wear a mask, whenever they go out.

Phase -3 trail of 'COVAXIN' to start in Lucknow and Gorakhpur

The Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday announced that phase-3 trial of the coronavirus vaccine 'COVAXIN' will start in Lucknow and Gorakhpur from October. "The phase-3 trial of COVAXIN being developed by Bharat Biotech will start in Lucknow and Gorakhpur from October," said Uttar Pradesh Principal Health Secretary Amit Mohan Prasad in a press conference.

Seven more die of coronavirus in Pondy

Puducherry: Seven more succumbed to COVID- 19 in Puducherry while 608 new infections were recorded on Friday, taking the total caseload to 25,489 in the Union Territory. Director of Health and Family Welfare S Mohan Kumar said in a release that 608 fresh cases were identified after examination of 5,515 samples in the last 24 hours. Of the 25,489 overall cases,5,214 were active, 19,781 patients recovered and were discharged while the fatalities were 494.

10 COVID-19 fatalities, 2,381 new cases in Telangana

Hyderabad: The surge in coronavirus cases continued in Telangana with the state reporting 2,381 fresh cases, pushing the state's tally to 1.81 lakh. The toll rose to 1,080 with 10 more people succumbing to the virus, a state government bulletin said on Friday, providing data as of 8 PM on September 24.

75 per cent of new cases of coronavirus mainly in 10 States and UTs

Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Friday said that 75 per cent of new cases of coronavirus in the country are concentrated in 10 States and Union Territories (UT) so as 74 per cent of new recoveries.

In a tweet, the Ministry said, "IndiaFightsCorona. 75 per cent of new cases in the country are concentrated in 10 States/UTs. 10 States/UTs also account for 74 per cent of new recoveries. Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka are among these, reporting  higher number of recoveries and new COVID-19 cases too."

Jharkhand reports 1,349 new COVID-19 cases, 4 fresh fatalities
 

Ranchi: Jharkhand's COVID-19 caseload rose to 76,438 on Friday as 1,349 more people tested positive for the infection, a health official said. Four more patients succumbed to the infection, taking the state's coronavirus death toll to 652, he said.

283 new COVID-19 cases in Arunachal Pradesh, tally rises to 8,416

Itanagar: At least 283 more people, including 19 security personnel and four health care workers, have tested positive for COVID-19 in Arunachal Pradesh,pushing the northeastern state's tally to 8,416, a senior health department official said on Friday.

Bengal Transport Minister Suvendu Adhikari tests COVID-19 positive: Official

Kolkata: West Bengal Transport Minister Suvendu Adhikari has tested positive for COVID-19 and is under home isolation, a health official said on Friday.

The minister's mother has also contracted the disease, he said. The 49-year-old legislator from Nandigram in Purba Medinipur district has isolated himself at a guest house in his constituency, while his mother has been admitted to a Kolkata-based hospital, the official said."The minister has mild symptoms and is under home isolation," he said. Ministers Sujit Bose, Jyotipriyo Mullick and Swapan Debnath had earlier tested positive for the infection and have recovered.

COVID-19 tally in India crosses 58-lakh mark 

New Delhi: India's COVID-19 caseload zoomed past58 lakh, while over 47 lakh people have recuperated from the disease, pushing the national recovery rate to 81.74 per cent, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday.

The total coronavirus cases mounted to 58,18,570 with 86,052 infections being reported in a day. The death toll climbed to 92,290 with 1,141 people succumbing to the disease in a span of 24 hours, the data updated at 8 am showed. The total recoveries have surged to47,56,164. The COVID-19 case fatality rate due to the coronavirus infection was recorded at 1.59 per cent.

There are 9,70,116 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country which comprises 16.67 per cent of the total caseload, the data stated. India's COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and it went past50 lakh on September 16. According to ICMR, a cumulative total of 6,89,28,440 samples have been tested up to September 24 with 14,92,409 samples being tested on Thursday.

The Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday announced that phase-3 trial of the coronavirus vaccine 'COVAXIN' will start in Lucknow and Gorakhpur from October. Puducherry: Seven more succumbed to COVID- 19 in Puducherry while 608 new infections were recorded on Friday, taking the total caseload to 25,489 in the Union Territory.
