COVID-19 recovery rate touches 59.43 percent in India

India's COVID-19 recovery rate has touched a significant 59.43 per cent as 13,157 people have been cured of the disease in the last 24 hours taking the total number of cured people to 3,47,978. The country now has 2,20,114 active reported cases at present.

New Delhi: Amid an ongoing spike in COVID-19 cases, as many as 13,157 people have been cured of the disease in the last 24 hours taking the total number to 3,47,978 with the total recovery rate touching a significant 59.43 per cent.

The difference between cured and active COVID-19 cases in India now stands at 1,27,864 with 2,20,114 active cases reported from across the country at present.

India till date has tested 88,26,585 people through its 1056 labs (764 govt labs and 292 private labs).

Health Ministry statistics said that states and UTs like Maharashtra, Delhi, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat are still witnessing a spike in COVID cases.

Maharashtra registered 174761 cases, Delhi 87360, Tamil Nadu 90167 and Gujarat 32557. Interestingly, ever since Union Home Ministry intervened to manage COVID situation in the national capital, the overall COVID-19 number in Delhi again come down with Tamil Nadu going above Delhi.

Last week, Delhi crossed Tamil Nadu with 77240 COVID-19 cases above the later's 74622 cases.

Meanwhile, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr Harsh Vardhan exhorted the medical community to pledge to follow ethical behaviour in their profession.

Dr Vardhan was releasing the Good Clinical Practice Guidelines Handbook and Prospectus for Fellowship Programme for international students of National Board of Examinations commemorating the National Doctors Day.

"Good Clinical Practice Guidelines Handbook is an attempt to provide guiding points to all diplomats of national board residents to follow the principles of ethical conduct," said Vardhan.

The Health Minister also released Fellowship Program for International Students-Prospectus for Current Year 2020-2021 in 11 specialities spread over premium institutions.
