Hyderabad: India has recorded another landmark achievement as the national recovery rate has touched 90 per cent on Sunday, said the Union Ministry of Health.

According to an official release, this achievement is matched by the downward spiral fall of the total active cases, which are maintained below the seven lakh mark for the third successive day.
Presently the active cases comprise merely 8.50 per cent of the total positive cases of the country standing at 6,68,154. The death toll is pegged at 1,18,534.
The total recovered cases also continue to rise. They are 70,78,123 so far. With an increasing number of recoveries, this gap is continuously widening. The gap between Recovered cases and Active cases has crossed 64 lakh (64,09,969).
Less than 1000 deaths have been continuously reported since the last one week. The deaths are below the 1100 mark since 2nd October. India's testing lab network has inked another achievement today. The total number of labs has crossed 2000. Starting from one lab in Pune, the number of labs stands at 2003 which includes 1126 Government laboratories and 877 Private laboratories.
Madhya Pradesh
The risk of swine flu has increased in Madhya Pradesh with change in weather amid the ongoing corona pandemic. The state Health Department has issued guidelines to its officials to deal with the possible threat of swine flu and asked for immediate measures to tackle any eventuality.
The Directorate of Health has written to all the Chief Medical and health officials as well as Civil Surgeons in the state that due to the change in weather the possibility of swine flu seasonal influenza (H1N1) affecting people has increased.
Jammu and Kashmir
Eighty-eight prisoners, who were earlier tested positive for COVID-19, have recovered in the district jail in Amphalla here, bringing down the number of active cases in the prison to four, a senior official said on Sunday.
There is no positive case among the jail staff, Amphalla District Jail Superintendent Mirza Saleem Ahmad Beig told reporters. He said the final testing of 92 positive prisoners and 24 new admissions was undertaken on Sunday.
Karnataka
The BJP-ruled Karnataka government would soon decide on providing a free vaccine to treat Coronavirus when available, Deputy Chief Minister C.N. Ashwath Narayan said on Sunday.
"A meeting has been convened hereafter Dasara to decide on the free distribution of vaccine to treat the Covid pandemic, as and when the central government makes it available for the state," Narayan said here.
On the Centre's directive last week, the state government has already decided to give the vaccine free first to its healthcare warriors, including doctors, nurses, paramedics and their associates who have been treating Covid patients across the state since mid-March when the virus broke,
"As Covid patients are already being tested and treated free in state-run hospitals, they will be administered the vaccine free of charge. The Chief Minister (B.S. Yediyurappa) will decide on giving it free for all," reiterated Narayan.
Telangana
As many as 978 more coronavirus cases were recorded in Telangana on Sunday as the state conducted fewer tests, taking its total tally to 2,31,252. The state also recorded recovery of other 1,446 patients. During the last 24 hours, authorities tested 27,055 samples, of which 978 were found positive.
Four more COVID patients succumbed to the virus, taking the state's death toll to 1,307. The fatality rate now stands at 0.56 per cent as against the national average of 1.5 per cent. Officials said the percentage of deaths due to COVID-19 was 44.96 while the remaining 55.04 had comorbidities.
Kerala
Kerala reported 6843 new covid-19 cases on Sunday taking the total active cases in the state to 96585. 26 deaths were also confirmed today taking the total death toll to 1332. 7649 were recovered from the disease on Sunday. 2,94,910 recovered from the disease till now. Out of the confirmed cases, 5694 contracted through contact, while the source of infection of 908 persons remains unknown. 82 health workers have also contracted the disease on Sunday.
Maharashtra
Maharashtra on Saturday reported 6,417 new COVID-19 cases and 137 deaths, according to the state's Public Health Department.
The state's COVID tally climbed to 16,38,961, including 1,40,194 active cases, 14,55,107 recoveries and 43,152 deaths. Mumbai recorded 1,257 new coronavirus cases, 898 recoveries, and 50 deaths.
Andhra Pradesh
Andhra Pradesh has reported 2,997 new coronavirus cases, 3,585 recoveries and 21 deaths in 24 hours, ending 9 am on Sunday, the latest bulletin stated. With these, the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases has risen to 8.07 lakh, recoveries to 7.69 lakh and deaths to 6,587, it said.
The state now has 30,860 active cases of the coronavirus infection, the bulletin said. The recovery rate has improved to 95.36 per cent while the mortality rate remains steady at 0.82 per cent. The bulletin said that after testing 75.70 lakh samples so far, the overall infection positivity rate in the state stands at 10.66 per cent.
West Bengal
West Bengal on Saturday reported the highest single-day discharge of 3,753 COVID-19 patients, taking the total number of recovered people to 3,02,340, the
health department said in a bulletin. The discharge rate is now 87.49 per cent.
The coronavirus tally in the state rose to 3,45,574 after 4,148 people tested positive for the disease, while 59 fresh fatalities pushed the death toll to 6,427, it said. The number of active cases is now 36,807.
