India's coronavirus cases have crossed the 52-lakh mark with a spike of 96,424 new cases and 1,174 deaths in the last 24 hours. The Union Health Ministry on Friday said that 60 per cent of the country's active coronavirus cases are concentrated across five worst-hit States. It also said that there are 13 States and Union Territories that have less than 5,000 active cases of COVID-19.

Hyderabad: India's COVID-19 case tally crosses 52-lakh mark with a spike of 96,424 new cases and 1,174 deaths in the last 24 hours. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total case tally stands at 52,14,677 including 10,17,754 active cases, 41,12,552 cured/discharged/migrated & 84,372 deaths.

The Union Health Ministry on Friday said that 60 per cent of the country's active coronavirus cases are concentrated across five worst-hit States. It also said that there are 13 States and Union Territories that have less than 5,000 active cases of COVID-19.

Delhi

New Delhi: Delhi recorded 4,432 fresh cases of COVID-19 Thursday, taking the total tally to 2,34,701. The death toll mounted to 4,877, with 38 more deaths reported in the last 24 hours – the highest in over 60 days. Of the total cases, 1,98,103 have recovered. The number of active cases stands at 31,721.

In the wake of rising coronavirus cases, the Delhi govt has ordered that all schools in the national capital will remain closed for all students till 5 October. The govt has said that strict action will be taken against those flouting the order.

However, online classes and teaching-learning activities will continue as usual.

Uttarakhand

Dehradun: The state government has given a big relief to the people coming to Uttarakhand. Now it will not be necessary to conduct corona test for those travellers who are coming to the state for only 3 to 4 days. Earlier, the state government had decided that it would be necessary to bring negative reports of Covid-19 in the state to the passengers travelling in Uttarakhand.

Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Health Engineering Minister, Eidal Singh Kansana has tested positive for coronavirus. Kansana revealed the information himself.

Another BJP MLA from Mandsaur, Yashpal Singh Sisodiya has also been found COVID-19 positive. He is admitted in Rituvan hospital for treatment. Another MP BJP office-bearer and BJP MP general secretary Bhagwan Das Sabnani has tested COVID-19 positive as well.

Uttar Pradesh

Lukhnow: The Pilibhit jail in Uttar Pradesh has reported 105 cases of Covid-19 among the inmates. The jail has a capacity for 802 prisoners but has 946 inmates at the moment.

According to the district jail superintendent Anoop Manmav Shastri, a team of medical officers from the district government hospital visited the prison complex and identified 19 symptomatic infected prisoners, out of 105, for their shifting to L1 facility at the state L. H.Ayurvedic College.

Two prisoners among the positive ones had been released on bail three days ago while the remaining 84 asymptomatic prisoners had been kept in an isolation ward within the district jail complex where they would get proper medical treatment, Shastri said.

Prior to this, the jail administration had arranged the sampling of 100 prisoners on September 7. They were selected randomly from 13 barracks. Of these, four had tested positive on September 10.

Maharashtra

Mumbai: Maharashtra Energy Minister Nitin Raut on Friday said he has tested positive for COVID-19, becoming the ninth member of the state cabinet to contract the infection.

Raut (63), who is also the working president of the state Congress, tweeted about his diagnosis.

"I have tested positive for COVID-19. I would request all those who had come in contact with me to get themselves tested as a precautionary measure," he said.

West Bengal

kolkata: A Deputy Commissioner of Kolkata Police has been admitted to hospital after she tested positive for COVID-19, police sources said on Friday.

Deputy Commissioner of South East Division of Kolkata Police Debasmita Das was taken to the hospital on Thursday where she is undergoing treatment, they said.

"She is undergoing treatment and we are keeping a close watch on her health conditions," hospital sources said.

The IPS officer was having some health-related issues and was on leave since last Saturday, sources in Kolkata Police said.

There are around 3,000 policemen in the state who have been infected by coronavirus.

Gujarat

Ahmedabad: Former Gujarat Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel has tested positive for novel coronavirus, health officials said on Friday.

He underwent a COVID-19 test as one of his attendants was detected with the infection on Thursday after which samples of the former were taken for antigen and the RT-PCR process, said Gandhinagar Civil Hospital Superintendent Dr Niyati Lakhani.

"His antigen test returned positive while the results for the RT-PCR test is yet to come," Lakhani informed.

The 92-year-old leader's family said he is in home isolation in Gandhinagar.
