The COVID-19 pandemic continues to rule the roost when it comes to India, as it has been reporting over 60,000 cases daily since August 7, barring August 11 when the country registered 53,601 new instances of the infection. The case fatality rate has declined to 1.93 per cent. There are 6,77,444 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country presently which comprise 26.16 per cent of the total caseload in the country.

Hyderabad: India's COVID-19 tally increased to 25,89,600 with a single-day spike of 63,490 cases, while the total number of recoveries rose to 18,62,258 pushing the recovery rate to 71.91 per cent on Sunday, according to the Union Health Ministry data. The death toll due to coronavirus infection climbed to 49,980 with 944 people succumbing to the disease in a span of 24 hours.

Delhi

New Delhi: To give a boost to the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will set up centres for testing saturation of oxygen content in blood in 30,000 villages across the country, its national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced.

He said that he has already received a commitment for 30,000 oximeters from people.

Meanwhile, Delhi's coronavirus case count went up to 1,52,580 with the addition of 652 new cases during the day. The toll from the disease rose to 4,196 with eight more deaths. With 1,310 recoveries being reported in the last 24 hours, the recovery rate in the National Capital has improved to 90.15 per cent.

Bihar

Patna: The COVID-19 pandemic continues to rule the roost when it comes to Bihar, with the number of positive cases crossing the 1-lakh mark. Meanwhile, 1 dozen workers, including Labour Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha have tested positive for COVID-19 in the state.

On Sunday, as many as 2,187 new cases were confirmed. With this, the number of active cases in the state has gone up to 35,056.

Right now, Bihar is the fastest-growing state among the major states, more than even Andhra Pradesh, which has been slowing down a bit after growing at over eight per cent for quite some time. Bihar’s current growth rate is 4.32 per cent per day, compared to the national growth rate of 2.66 per cent. The growth rate of Andhra Pradesh has now fallen to 3.8 per cent.

Jharkhand

Ranchi: As the coronavirus continues to creep across the state, the number of positive cases has reached 22,672. As many as 62, 507 patients have been cured or discharged from the different hospitals in the state so far whereas the number of death toll stands at 229.

Uttarakhand

Dehradun: With 1 death reported on Sunday, the death toll due to COVID-19 rose to 152 in the state and the number of coronavirus cases climbed to 12,175. Meanwhile, 352 patients were cured or discharged from the different hospitals in the state on Sunday which took the tally of discharged patients to 8,144. Currently, 3,879 patients are undergoing treatment in the state.
