With a record single-day surge of 5,65,103 infections, India's Covid-19 tally reached 17,01,307 caseloads today. The country's death toll now stands at 36,511, as per the government data. With coronavirus cases rising at record speed, several states like Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Mizoram have extended their lockdown till August 31.

Patna: The Bihar health department has developed ‘Sanjivan’, a mobile phone application (app) that facilitates coronavirus disease (Covid-19) test and also provides updated information put out by the state government about the raging viral outbreak. Preparations for treatment of corona positive patients with plasma therapy have started in Bhagalpur district. COVID patients are currently being treated with plasma therapy in AIIMS Patna.

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday inaugurated two more COVID Hospitals having ICUs in Berhampur in Ganjam district. The hospitals are equipped with 150-bed strength each and 24 ICUs each with ventilators. These facilities will provide critical care for patients from the district within the district itself.

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor BD Mishra underwent a test for COVID-19 on Saturday after a policeman posted at the Raj Bhavan was found to be positive for coronavirus infection. His wife and the Raj Bhavan employees also underwent RT-PCR tests for COVID-19 at a health kiosk here. The test was done as a precautionary protocol of contact tracing after a policeman who was deployed at the Raj Bhavan was found to be COVID-positive
