Hyderabad: Amid growing concerns over the spread of the novel coronavirus, the central government has given permission to operate Yoga institutes and gymnasiums during the Unlock 3 phase announced on Wednesday evening.
However, education institutes, cinema halls, swimming pools, entertainment parks, theatres, bars, auditoriums and assembly halls will continue to remain closed till August 31.
The order released by the Union home secretary also says that every other activity that has been permitted outside of designated containment zones will continue without any restriction.
The guidelines also do not permit resumption of metro train services in any part of the country.
Delhi
New Delhi: For the first time in the past two months, Lok Nayak Hospital — Delhi government’s biggest COVID-19 treatment facility — did not report any death due to the disease on Monday.
Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal announced, “No death in our biggest COVID hospital LNJP yesterday.”
Dr Suresh Kumar, medical director of the hospital, attributed the feat to "extensive ICU care, plasma bank, top healthcare facilities and dedication of doctors and healthcare workers”.
At least one death due to the virus was recorded daily in the past couple of months, but on Monday, there was no fatality, Kumar said. Till Tuesday evening, about 389 (19%) of the hospital’s 2,000 beds were occupied by COVID patients. Of these, 88 were in ICU and two on ventilators, he added.
Bihar
Patna: Amid growing concerns over the spread of the novel coronavirus, the state recorded the highest single-day corona testing. It recorded as many as 17794 testings on Wednesday.
The recovery percentage of corona patients in the state is 66.43. At the same time, a total of 30,504 patients have been cured in the state so far.
At present, the number of active patients stands at 15,141.
Meanwhile, Civil Surgeon of Patna has also been tested positive. Following which, he has moved into home isolation.
Rajasthan
Jaipur: Governor Kalraj Mishra has cancelled Independence Day 'At Home' programme in view of the coronavirus situation in the state. His decision also indicated that the state assembly session will not be allowed anytime soon.
The Independence Day 'At Home' programme is usually held at Raj Bhavan every year on August 15.
However, Governor Mishra clearly mentioned that the event will not be held this year due to the rising number of coronavirus cases in the state.
Meanwhile, corona-positive patients created a ruckus on Wednesday at a dedicated COVID centre in Sikar. The patients came out of their wards and started creating chaos. After getting the information, officials rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Odisha
Bhubaneswar: The total number of cases in the state climbed to 29,175 on Wednesday, with the detection of 1,068 new cases in the past 24 hours.
Of the total 1,068 new cases, 662 positives were reported from different quarantine centres while 406 are local contacts.
With this, the state has now 10,920 active cases with 18,060 recoveries. The COVID-19 death toll in the state rose to 159 on Wednesday, that includes five people who lost their lives in the last 24 hours across the
Jharkhand
Ranchi: The death toll due to COVID-19 rose 96 in Jharkhand on Wednesday and with 791 new cases the number of positive cases climbed to 9,668. As many as 3,984 people have been cured so far in the state.
Meanwhile, Jharkhand's mortality rate is at 0.98 per cent, while the recovery rate is 41.66 per cent.
Uttarakhand
Dehradun: Two new deaths and 279 new corona positive cases were found in the Uttarakhand in the last 24 hours.
With this death toll rose to 72 and corona positive figure stands at 6,866 in the state.
Meanwhile, as many as 91 positive patients have been cured and discharged on Wednesday.
With this, total 3,849 out of 6,866 patients have been cured and discharged from state hospitals so far.
As of now, 2,945 active patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals of the state.
