Hyderabad: The coronavirus has been gnawing its way across the country and gaining speed fueled by high population density. With over 40,000 new cases, India has recorded its biggest single-day spike. The total number of coronavirus cases in the country has reached 1,11,80,43.
According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the number of active cases in the country stands at 3,90,459. Coronavirus deaths in the country have surged to 27,497, while 7,00,086 people have been cured or discharged.
Delhi
New Delhi: Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain resumed work on Monday after recovering from COVID-19. The minister, who had tested positive for the novel coronavirus on June 17, was back to his office at around 11:40 am.
Jain (55) was undergoing treatment at Max Hospital in Saket after he tested positive for Covid-19 on June 17. He was administered plasma therapy soon after hospitalisation after his condition worsened.
Uttar Pradesh
Lucknow: Amid a chronic shortage of hospital beds, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to allow home isolation for asymptomatic Covid-19 patients under certain conditions. The guidelines for home isolation are being prepared and will be announced soon.
On Monday while holding a meeting with a team of eleven senior officials, formed to check the pandemic, chief minister Yogi Adityanath said that it had been brought to his notice that a large number of asymptomatic COVID patients have been concealing the fact that they have been infected, which could cause the large-scale spread of the disease within the state.
He said it has been decided to allow home isolation to such patients but they and their families will have to follow protocol.
Bihar
Patna: A three-member Central team has asked the Bihar health officials to ensure better management of the hospitals and increase their capacity given the recent spike in Covid-19 cases in the state. As the Centre stressed on RT-PCR tests, the state government assured to provide the on-demand testing facility to all Covid-19 symptomatic patients.
Madhya Pradesh
Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Congress leader Premchand Borasi ‘Guddu’ has been tested COVID-19 positive and admitted in Bombay Hospital on Monday.
As per Bombay Hospital administration, he was tested positive on Sunday evening. Guddu’s COVID-19 positive report also sent ripples among the party leaders and the people of Sanwer as he was campaigning in the area for last many days and even meeting people door to door.
Odisha
Bhubaneswar: Odisha government on Monday announced monetary provision for effective handling and disposal of COVID-19 positive dead bodies.
As per a notification issued by the Health and Family Welfare Department, the state government has made a provision of Rs 7,500 for handling and disposal of each COVID positive dead body.
The amount will be spent from the Chief Minister’s relief fund.
Rajasthan
Jaipur: The Jaitaran subdivision office was sealed on Monday after 16 employees of the office were tested positive. The office has been sealed till July 23.
