For eleven consecutive days now, the number of people recovering from the novel Coronavirus disease in Delhi has remained higher than newly-detected infections. Meanwhile, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Prem Prakash Gautam died due to coronavirus in Bhopal on Saturday. Chhattisgarh government has decided to impose fines, ranging from Rs 100-1,000, for spitting in public places and violating home quarantine and social distancing measures.

Hyderabad: The coronavirus has been gnawing its way across the country and gaining speed fueled by high population density. India has recorded over 35,000 Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of coronavirus cases to 10,38,716. The death toll has now risen to 26,273. With a surge in Covid-19 cases in Bihar, West Bengal, Assam and Odisha, the Union health ministry has asked these states to make renewed efforts to suppress transmission of the virus and keep case fatality rate below one per cent.

COVID-19 situation in Delhi improving steadily

New Delhi: For eleven consecutive days now, the number of people recovering from the novel Coronavirus disease in Delhi has remained higher than newly-detected infections. This has been the case on 17 out of the last 20 days. No other state has even come close to such a trend.

In the last 24 hours, 1973 patients have recovered from Corona in Delhi. After this increase, a total of 1,01,274 people have beaten Corona so far in Delhi. The rate of recovery from Corona has been 83.29 per cent. Talking about the active patients of Corona, their number in Delhi has steadily decreased to 16,711.

On Saturday, 26 people have died due to corona for the second consecutive day. It is pertinent to be mentioned here that in the month of July, on an average 35-40 people were dying every day till the last week.

At the same time, it reached an average of 101 at the same time in June. However, the increase in death cases today has brought the total death toll from Corona in Delhi to 3597. Talking about the death rate, it is now 2.95 per cent.

Bhopal DSP (CID) dies of coronavirus, CM Chouhan expresses grief

Bhopal: Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Prem Prakash Gautam died due to coronavirus in Bhopal on Saturday. He was serving the Police Department for nearly 38 years and was currently posted in CID. After testing corona positive, he was undergoing treatment at Chirayu Hospital. CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan also expressed grief on his death. Taking it to twitter, the CM said, "Pray to God to give peace to the departed soul and give the family the strength to bear this grief."

Chhattisgarh govt to impose fines ranging from Rs 100-1,000 for violating lockdown guidelines

Chhattisgarh government has decided to impose fines, ranging from Rs 100-1,000, for spitting in public places and violating home quarantine and social distancing measures.

It is noteworthy that the Chhattisgarh Government has made it compulsory for citizens in the state to follow precautionary measures for prevention of COVID-19 infection. According to the notification issued by the Health Department in the context, fine in aforementioned cases will be collected only by nayab tehsildar, assistant sub-inspector (ASI) and officers authorized by District Magistrate. In case the person found guilty fails to pay the fine, then strict action will be taken under the Epidemic Act and IPC.

Bihar Health Department opens 25 rapid antigen test centres in Patna

In view of the increasing number of corona infections in Bihar, the Health Department has started preparing to increase the number of isolation centres on the instructions of the state government. The department has decided to install isolation beds in the closed nursing schools and colleges of the state amid Corona crisis.
