Amid spurt in cases, Madhya Pradesh is adopting the Karnataka model as the state will remain under complete lockdown on all Sundays. Meanwhile, COVID-19 tally in Uttar Pradesh crossed the 35,000-mark after the state recorded the highest single-day spike of 1,392 cases.

Hyderabad: Despite an unprecedented rise in coronavirus cases, the COVID-19 active cases rate in Delhi are getting reduced. Meanwhile, India's COVID-19 case count crossed the eight lakh-mark on Saturday with yet another highest single-day spike of 27,114 new cases in the last 24 hours.

Madhya Pradesh

Amid spurt in cases, the state will remain under complete lockdown on all Sundays. Indore's Chief Medical and Health Officer Praveen Jadia said that with 89 new cases, the coronavirus tally in the district now stands at 5,176.

A total of 261 patients have succumbed to the viral infection so far in the district while 3,956 people have recovered.

Bihar

AIIMS-Patna has been designated as dedicated COVID-19 hospital, according to the Bihar Health Department. It is the second medical facility in the city, after the Nalanda Medical College and Hospital, to have been declared a dedicated COVID-19 facility.

A total of 352 new cases of coronavirus were reported in Bihar on Friday, informed the State Health Department. With the addition of these new cases, the state tally of coronavirus cases has climbed to 14,330, including 9,792 recovered cases.

The districts where restrictions have been reintroduced are Patna, Bhagalpur, East Champaran, West Champaran, Nawada, Nalanda, Jehanabad, Begusarai, Araria and Kishanganj.

Jharkhand

Chief Minister Hemant Soren who has been living in the home quarantine since three days has undergone COVID-19 test at his residence. He is currently in good health, sources said.

The officials associated with the Chief Minister's secretariat were also undergone COVID-19 testing. The CM had come in contact with Drinking and Sanitation Minister Mithilesh Thakur who has tested positive.

Uttar Pradesh

Home Guard Minister Chetan Chauhan has tested positive for COVID-19. According to reports, 30 security guards deployed to protect CM Yogi Adityanath have also tested positive.

COVID-19 tally in Uttar Pradesh crossed the 35,000-mark after the state recorded the highest single-day spike of 1,392 cases.

Uttarakhand

The recovery rate in the state is second to Ladakh in the country, an achievement which the administration can be proud of. Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has also informed that the number of COVID-19 tests has also increased in the state.

Meanwhile, special vigilance teams are being maintained in four districts Dehradun, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital to enforce restrictions as out of 558 active cases, almost half are being reported from these four districts.

Rajasthan

The COVID-19 infection has reached the doorsteps of the judiciary as nine staff working at the state High Court have tested positive so far.

Meanwhile, Lok Adalat, an alternative dispute resolution mechanism, where cases pending on panchayat or at a pre-litigation stage in a court of law are settled, also remain cancelled in the state.

Delhi

Arvind Kejriwal government is focusing on reducing the number of deaths due to the infection as cases are in steady decline in the national capital. Delhi recorded 1,781 fresh coronavirus cases on Saturday, taking the tally in the city to over 1.1 lakh, while the death toll from the disease climbed to 3,334.

All these deaths were studied and analyzed by the Health Department, Government of Delhi. In the last few days, the number of deaths occurring daily has decreased and the recovery rate is an impressive 74%.

Punjab reported eight more deaths due to COVID-19 on Friday, taking the toll to 197, while 231 fresh infections pushed the tally to 7,587.
