Hyderabad: The death toll due to COVID-19 rose to 13,699 in the country on Monday and the number of coronavirus cases climbed to 4,25,282 with as many as 1,74,387 active cases. A total of 2,37,195 patients have also been discharged to date.
Delhi
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced on Monday that his government will give pulse oximeters to the COVID-19 patients under home isolation in the city and said the number of coronavirus tests has increased by three times in the national capital.
Talking about his government's efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19, the chief minister said around 18,000 coronavirus tests are being conducted daily in the city now.
There are around 12,000 people under home isolation and they will be given pulse oximeters by the Aam Aadmi Party government, he added.
Maharashtra
With 55 more Maharashtra police personnel tested COVID-19 positive in the last 24 hours, the total count of the cops infected with the virus has climbed to 4,103 on Monday.
As many as 48 policemen have died due to coronavirus in Maharashtra.
Meanwhile, the first death of the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) personnel due to coronavirus was reported in Mumbai. The SRPF personnel, posted at Seven Hills Hospital in Mumbai, died on June 21.
Moreover, Maharashtra continues to be the worst affected state by the contagion with 1,32,075 COVID-19 cases and 6170 deaths, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Gujarat
Nearly 300 workers of diamond units in Gujarat's Surat city have tested positive for coronavirus in the last 10 days, following which fresh restrictions have been imposed on the industry's operations.
As part of the new curbs, three main diamond trading markets will remain shut twice a week, while canteens of all the diamond polishing units will remain closed on all days to contain the spread of coronavirus.
Karnataka
As many as 142 more containment zones in Bengaluru were enlisted as 'active' by the local civic body the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) on Monday after 322 fresh cases and 6 fatalities were reported in the last couple of days.
According to statistics shared by the BBMP COVID-19 War Room, a total of 440 containment zones are active in the city, as on Monday.
As many as 919 cases are active in the Karnataka capital, as on June 22.
Rajasthan
As the coronavirus continues to creep across the state, the death toll from this deadly disease is also increasing continuously.
As many as four corona-infected patients died in PBM hospital in Bikaner on Monday. The Chief Medical Officer of Bikaner, Dr BL Meena confirmed the death of four people.
Madhya Pradesh
Amid growing concerns over the spread of the novel coronavirus, the railways has installed a 'modern machine' at Bhopal railway station. The machine will raise an alarm if any passenger comes to the station without wearing a facemask. The railway has also installed a contact equipped thermal imaging camera at the station and thermal screening is also being done through this camera.
It is to be noted that the state’s COVID-19 fatality rate is the third-worst in the country at 4.32% after Gujarat (6.10%) and Maharashtra (4.67%).
Bihar
A BJP MLA in Bihar has tested positive for COVID-19 and referred to AIIMS hospital in Patna for treatment, health department officials said on Monday.
Jibesh Kumar Mishra, who represents Jale assembly segment in Darbhanga district, showed symptoms of coronavirus infection and his test result came positive, they said.
The MLA is the first sitting member of the bicameral legislature in the state to have tested positive for COVID-19.
Jharkhand
As the coronavirus continues to creep across the country, there is doubt about the Shravani Mela to be held in Deoghar. The doors of the temple are still closed and many priestly organizations have also demanded the postponement of the fair from Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
However, BJP MP from Godda Nishikant Dubey has written a letter to the CM and told ETV Bharat that if Babadham temple doesn't open, he will appeal in the High court.
"It is not just an issue of faith but the matter related to the employment of millions," he added.
Chhattisgarh
Congress legislator of Rajnandgaon Daleshwar Sahu tested positive for coronavirus positive on Monday. He has been admitted to a hospital and the administration is now finding details about his contacts.
A district health official said the MLA had visited the house of a man who had died in Dongargaon and this may have been the cause of infection as a relative of the deceased and another youth who attended the funeral were later detected with COVID-19.
