Hyderabad: COVID-19 pandemic has spread its tentacles far and wide across the country. Though the recovery rate is promising, the ever-increasing number of cases is a cause of worry as the governments and COVID warriors are pitching a tightly fought battle against the disease. Here are some of the major news from the states.

New Delhi

With the increasing number of corona cases in the national capital, the number of containment zones is also increasing. On Thursday as many as 1,501 new corona cases were reported. Whereas, the number of containment zones reached to 242 in Delhi.

North district has the highest number of containment zones (35), followed by South (34), Southwest (32), West (31), Northwest (22), East (19), Southeast (19), Central (17), New Delhi (15), Shahdara (14), Northeast (3).

Maharashtra

As many as 467 positive cases were registered and 255 culprits arrested across the state in connection with cyber crimes during the lockdown. It is to be noted that as many as 2985 children are infected in the state but no child below the age of 10 has died.

Rajasthan

As many as 122 coronavirus "super-spreaders" have been found in Bharatpur district so far. In the last 17 days, the district has reported as many as 623 corona positive cases. "Super-spreaders" are the infectious disease carriers who could transmit the pathogen to a large number of people. Now the medical department is engaged in identifying these "super-spreaders" and the people in contact with them.

Karnataka

Karnataka government has decided to stop all On-line classes for LKG, UKG & classes up to 5th std.

The Education minister Suresh Kumar announced this in a press conference. He also clarified that there is only a suggestion to extend the ban on online classes till 7th grade. The state government has also decided to carry on with SSLC exams as scheduled on June 25.

Uttar Pradesh

As many as 480 new corona patients and 24 deaths were reported in Uttar Pradesh on Thursday. Agra was a hot spot in Uttar Pradesh, but now cases are increasing in Kanpur Basti and Jaunpur in Purvanchal. In the last two days, 49 positive cases were found in Kanpur whereas 52 cases were reported in Jaunpur on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh government also achieved the target of testing 15,000 people in a day.

Haryana

Haryana reported 12 coronavirus deaths on Thursday, the worst single-day toll in the state due to the virus, as total infections neared 6,000. The hardest-hit Gurgaon reported 6 deaths, Faridabad 4 and Ambala and Rohtak reported 1 death each, according to a state health department bulletin.

Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand cabinet minister Satpal Maharaj’s five family members, including two sons, two daughters-in-law and one grandson, who were tested corona positive on May 30, have been discharged from AIIMS, Rishikesh on June 11.

The reports of his son and grandson came negative so they have been discharged. Whereas, the reports of his two daughters-in-law and one son report came positive but they are asymptomatic so they have also been discharged. Although they have been categorically asked to stay for 14 days home quarantine.

Bihar

Amid a rise in cases, the Nitish Kumar led government decided that the lockdown will continue in the areas where new cases are being received. On Thursday, during the virtual conference of JDU, CM said that no relaxation will be given in areas where cases are still being reported. There are still 38 containment zones in the state. There are 19 areas in Patna Sadar, 10 in Patna City, 8 in Danapur and a restricted area in Masaurhi.

Jharkhand

The migrant labourers returning to Jharkhand after the lockdown are being given 5 kg of rice and 1 kg of gram by the government for two months. But its benefit will be available only to those migrant labourers who got themselves registered in Jharkhand Market App.

Nearly 8,645 migrant labourers have come so far in East Singhbhum district but only 96 migrant labourers are registered.

To avail this benefit, the migrant labourers have to download the 'Jharkhand Bazaar' app and need to register themselves. They will be helped by the block level officer in the registration. After this, labourers can take ration from the scheduled 231 shops in the panchayat area and 40 shops in the urban area.
