Total Covid-19 positive cases in Punjab stands at 91

"We've planned to buy 10 lakh rapid testing kits. 468 Tablighi Jammat attendees came to Punjab out of which 448 have been traced & 15 have tested positive with 119 test results awaited," Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu.

Lav Aggarwal, Joint Secretary, Health Ministry: Till now 326 persons have been discharged after recovery. 

  • Till now there are 4,421 COVID-19 positive cases in the country, including 354 cases in the last 24 hours.
  • Government has been adopting a strategy for cluster containment & for outbreaks that are amenable to management. This strategy is producing positive results, especially in Agra, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Pathanamthitta, Bhilwara & East Delhi.
  • Indian Railways has prepared 40,000 isolation beds in 2,500 coaches. They are making 375 isolation beds daily and this is going on across 133 locations across the country
  • Status of essential goods & services is by & large satisfactory. Home Minister did a detailed review of the status of essential commodities & lockdown measures, he gave directions to take appropriate measures and ensure hoarding & black marketing is not done.

Odisha: A 72-yr-old man belonging to Jharpada had been admitted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar on 4 April complaining of respiratory distress.

He had history of chronic hypertension. He died on 6 April. He was tested positive for COVID-19. Contact tracing & containment ongoing.

They were already under isolation at the civil hospital as precautionary measure. They belong to Chhattisgarh.

Wockhardt Hospital, Mumbai: Our colleague nurses and the doctors identified as COVID-19 positive are presently being treated. The hospital is currently declared containment zone by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and we are closely working with the authorities.

Several of our healthcare professionals tested positive for COVID-19 at South Mumbai facility. The source of the infection is identified as a 70 year old patient who was admitted on March 17 for a cardiac emergency. Later,patient tested positive for COVID-19.

COVID-19 cases in MP reach 256 with 23 new cases

Bhopal: The coronavirus cases in Madhya Pradesh reached 256 on Monday night as 23 cases were reported in the last 12 hours.

Indore with 151 cases has the highest number while Bhopal has 61 patients as six new cases were reported here. 

Apart from Indore-Bhopal, 12 cases have been reported in Morena, eight each in Jabalpur and Ujjain, four in Khargone, three in Barwani, two each in Gwalior, Shivpuri and Chhindwara, and one each Betul, Vidisha. One patient is from Uttar Pradesh.

35 localities in Indore have been sealed for containment.

The state capital also recorded its first Corona death in the wee hours of Monday. With 23 positive cases the state capital had recorded highest one- day hike by Sunday night. With Monday's 14 cases 37 cases have been recorded in 24 hours.

A patient from the old city who was admitted in a private nursing home. Report confirming his positive status was received on Sunday afternoon. He was admitted to the nursing home four days ago with respiratory problem.

Monday's reports included five health department employees and seven Jamaatis. The total number of infected in Bhopal increased to 61.

With infection spreading to new localities health department teams will reach out to areas earmarked for containment and door-to-door screening. The radius of one kilometre around the houses of all patients will remain out of bounds for others. Screening began on Monday. Family members are quarantined home.

The risk of community transmission has increased in Bhopal. On the instructions of Collector Tarun Pithode, ADM Satish Kumar amended the order under section 144 Cr PC. From Monday, only medical stores, milk parlours and home delivery facilities will be available. Petrol pumps, grocery and other shops have been exempted. Passes given for all reasons other than emergency services have also been suspended.

Fourteen deaths have been recorded till Monday night. Nine have died in Indore, two in Ujjain, one each in Bhopal, Chhindwara and Khargone.
