With 36K new cases, India records lowest spike in 3 months
With a spike of 36,470 in new Covid-19 cases and 488 deaths in 24 hours, India's tally stood at 79,46,429, said the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday. This is the lowest spike in new cases in the last three months.
On Monday, the recorded spike in new cases was 45,148.
Out of the total Covid-19 cases recorded on Tuesday, 6,25,857 are currently active, 72,01,070 have been discharged, while 1,19,502 lost the battle against the pandemic.
While the recovery rate stands at 90.23 per cent, the fatality rate is 1.50 per cent, the data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare showed on Tuesday.
Maharashtra continues to be the worst-hit with a total of 16,48,665 cases, including 43,348 deaths; followed by Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.
According to the data from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), India conducted 9,58,116 sample tests in a single day on Monday, taking the total number of samples tested so far to 10,44,20,894.

37 new cases take Nagaland tally to 8,663
The COVID-19 tally of Nagaland went up to 8,663 after 37 new positive cases were detected on Monday, Health and Family Welfare Minister S Pangnyu Phom said.
The state also recorded 67 recoveries, taking the number of cured people to 6,720.
"37 positive cases of COVID-19 detected today include Kohima 28, Dimapur 8 and Mon 1. Also, 67 positive patients have recovered Dimapur 31, Kohima 20, Mokokchung 13 and Mon - 3," the minister tweeted.
The state currently has 1,833 active COVID-19 cases and the death toll remained at 38 as there was no fresh fatality, Additional Director of Health Department, Dr Denis Hangsing, said.
Out of the 38 fatalities, six were not related to COVID-19 while five are still under investigation.
Altogether 71 COVID-19 patients have migrated to other states, he said.

Fewer tests in Kerala sees daily Covid cases fall to 4,287
On expected lines, the daily number of Covid positive cases came down on Monday, as only 35,141 samples were sent for testing in the past 24 hours. A total of 4,287 people tested positive, while 7,107 people tested negative on Monday, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
"The number of active cases stands at 93,744 while 3,02,017 people have been cured so far. Also, 20 Covid deaths were reported taking the death toll to 1,352," said Vijayan.
Across the state, 2,83,473 people were under observation at various places which includes 22,798 in hospitals.
Besides, 19 hotspots was added taking the total number of hotspots to 682.

Jharkhand reports 220 new cases, six more fatalities
Jharkhand's COVID-19 tally rose to 99,906 as 220 more people tested positive for the infection, a health department official said on Tuesday.
Six more patients succumbed to the disease, pushing the state's coronavirus death toll to 872, he said.
Of the fresh fatalities, three were reported from East Singhbhum district and one each from Ranchi, Koderma and Saraikela, the official said.
Ranchi district registered the maximum number of new cases at 84, followed by East Singhbhum at 30 and Bokaro at 27.
Jharkhand now has 5,666 active coronavirus cases, while 93,368 people have been cured of the disease so far, the official said.

Hyderabad: Telangana reported 837 new COVID-19 cases taking the overall tally to 2,32,671 while four more deaths pushed the toll to 1,315, the state government said on Tuesday.
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the most number of cases with 185, followed by Khammam (76) and Rangareddy (59) districts, it said in a bulletin, providing data as of 8 PM on October 26.
As many as 17,890 are under treatment and 21,099 samples were tested on October 26.
Cumulatively, 41, 15,516 samples have been tested.
The samples tested per million population was 1,10,572, the bulletin said.
The case fatality rate in the state was 0.56 per cent, while it was 1.5 per cent at the national level.
The recovery rate in Telangana was 91.14 per cent, while it was 90.03 per cent in the country.
