A 52-year-old senior doctor from Pune's Sassoon General Hospital has tested positive for coronavirus, an official said on Saturday.

There are 1767 COVID-19 positive cases in Delhi, out of which 67 were reported yesterday. There have been 42 deaths in the national capital, 911 patients are admitted at hospitals, of which 27 are in ICUs & 6 are on ventilators, said Satyendar Jain, Delhi Health Minister

We have received 42,000 rapid kits, they will be used in containment zones starting from tomorrow, added the minister.

Government Medical College PRO Puja Tripathi Pandey said the man was initially admitted to Jaitipur health centre after he complained of fever and cough but was then moved to the medical college earlier this week and quarantined.

A woman who had delivered a baby 2 days ago at Sadar Hospital, tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday, her child has been admitted to the isolation ward at RIMS hospital. The Sadar Hospital staff that had attended the woman will now undergo tests: Ranchi Administration.

Baby is under proper care & all precautions are being taken. A detailed discussion was held by experts and doctors, & the baby has been allowed to be fed by mother, after proper sanitization. Baby's sample will be sent for testing today: Dr V Kashyap, Medical Superintendent RIMS

Two more test positive for COVID-19 in Bihar; number rises to 85

Two more persons have tested positive for COVID-19 in Bihar, taking the total number of coronavirus cases in the state to 85, a top official said on Saturday.

According to Principal Secretary, Health, Sanjay Kumar, one of the patients is a youth aged 17 years from Bihar Sharif, the headquarters of Nalanda district, while the other is a 42-year-old man from Begusarai.

21 Naval officers tested positive in Mumbai

21 serving personnel tested positive for COVID-19 within naval premises at Mumbai. This number includes 20 sailors of INS Angre, a shore establishment at Mumbai.

Most of these are asymptomatic & have been traced to a single sailor who was tested positive on 7th April.

All primary contacts (though asymptomatic) were tested for COVID-19. The entire inliving block was immediately put under quarantine, containment zone & INS Angre under lockdown.

Action being taken as per established protocol. No cases of infection onboard ships & submarines.

India's COVID-19 tally reaches 14,378, death toll at 480

New Delhi: The total number of coronavirus cases in India on Saturday increased to 14,378 with 11,906 active cases, while the death toll stood at 480, the Union Health Ministry said.

In its latest update, the Health Ministry said that of the 480 deaths, the highest - 201 - was reported from Maharashtra, followed by Madhya Pradesh with 69 fatalities.

"A total of 1,991 patients have been cured and discharged," it added.

Maharashtra remained the worst-hit state with total number of positive cases rising to 3,323, followed by Delhi with 1,707, Tamil Nadu 1,323 and Madhya Pradesh 1,310, according to the Ministry data.
