Four cops among 49 fresh cases in UP's Muzaffarnagar

Muzaffarnagar:  Four policemen were among 49 coronavirus cases reported in Muzaffarnagar district on Monday, taking the number of active patients in the district to 580, officials said.

Muzaffarnagar District Magistrate Selvakumari J said 2,092 sample results were received out of which 49 came out positive for the coronavirus.

Thirty patients recovered from the infection raising the count of those cured to 4,660 in the district, the DM added.

COVID-19: 658 cases, 30 deaths in Nagpur, 894 discharged

Nagpur: The number of COVID-19 cases in Nagpur increased by 658 on Monday while the death toll rose by 30, an official said.

The district now has 87,230 cases, including 2,820 deaths, while the discharge of 76,538 people had left it with 7,872 active ones, he pointed out.

The official said 894 people were discharged on Monday.

AP reports only 3,000 plus cases after about 3 month gap

Amaravati: In what has now come to be called ''the Sunday effect'', Andhra Pradesh reported only 3,000-plus new daily cases of COVID-19, for the first time in about three months.  

From 61,112 sample tests in 24 hours ending 9 AM on Monday, 3,224 positive cases emerged, taking the gross to 7,58,951, the latest bulletin said. It said the total recoveries went up to 7,08,712 after 5,504 had recovered in 24 hours.  

The overall toll increased to 6,256 after 32 fresh fatalities were reported, the bulletin added. Guntur district crossed the 60,000 total confirmed cases mark after it added 379 afresh.  

East Godavari reported 547 new cases, West Godavari 489, Chittoor 293 but Krishna had the lowest 86 in a day. Krishna and Prakasam reported five fresh Covid-19 deaths each and Guntur and Kadapa four each.

2,234 fresh COVID-19 cases take UP's tally to 4,39,161; death toll 6,438

Lucknow: The COVID-19 death toll in Uttar Pradesh rose to 6,438 on Monday with 44 more fatalities, while 2,234 fresh cases pushed the infection tally in the state to 4,39,161, officials said.  

Briefing reporters here, Additional Chief Secretary (Medical and Health) Amit Mohan Prasad said so far, 3,93,908 COVID-19 patients have recovered from the disease, taking the recovery rate in the state to 89.5 per cent.

He said 2,234 fresh COVID-19 cases were reported in the state in past 24 hours while in the same period, 3,342 people were discharged.

The count of active COVID-19 cases in the state stands at 38,815, Prasad said, adding that of these, 17,744 are in home isolation.

Naidu recovers from COVID-19

New Delhi: Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on Monday tested negative for COVID-19, his office said.

Naidu had tested positive for coronavirus on September 29.

The 71-year-old was asymptomatic and in good health. He was under home isolation during his recovery from the infection.

"As per today's RT-PCR test conducted by AIIMS, both the vice president and his wife Usha Naidu have tested negative for COVID-19," the Vice President''s Secretariat said in a statement.

Naidu is in good health and is expected to resume normal activities soon as per doctor''s advice, it said.

"He thanked all those who prayed for his well-being," the statement said.

Kalyan Singh recovers from COVID, discharged from hospital

Ghaziabad: Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and BJP leader Kalyan Singh has been discharged from a Ghaziabad hospital after recovering from coronavirus, an official said on Monday.

Kalyan Singh was admitted to Ghaziabad’s Yashoda Super Speciality Hospital on September 16 after he tested positive for the infection.

He was shifted from Lucknow’s Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences to the hospital near the Kaushambi Metro station here.

Singh suffered from other health problems like diabetes, high blood pressure, Parkinson’s disease, kidney and heart-related issues.

Singh expressed gratitude towards the hospital staff for the treatment and said he was happy after being acquitted in the Babri mosque demolition case.

A special CBI court had recently acquitted all 32 accused, including Kalyan Singh, in the case.

His son Rajveer Singh, an MP from UP's Etah, was present at the hospital while he was being discharged. Several BJP leaders from the district reached the hospital to congratulate him.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur on Monday said that he has tested positive for COVID-19 and gone into self-isolation.

The minister had come in contact with a COVID-19 positive person and was in quarantine for last one week at his residence. After showing symptoms of COVID-19 infection, Thakur was tested on Monday.

Mizoram reports 9 fresh COVID-19 cases, tally rises to 2,184

Aizawl: At least nine more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Mizoram, including a one-year-old child, pushing the state's tally to 2,184, an official said on Monday.

All the fresh cases were reported from Aizawl, and were locally-transmitted ones, he said.

Mizoram registered a recovery rate of 92 per cent in the last 24 hours after 2,010 people were discharged from hospitals.

It now has 174 active cases.

Of the state's 11 districts, Siaha, Khawzawl and Hnahthial have so far been unaffected by coronavirus, the official said.

The northeastern state has not reported any COVID-19 fatality so far.

Aizawl district has accounted for the highest number of 1,417 infections followed by Lunglei district (262).

Altogether, 88,551 samples have been tested till date, the health department said.

Odisha's COVID-19 tally jumps to 2,54,662 with 2,423 fresh cases

Odisha's COVID-19 tally surged to 2,54,662 on Monday as 2,423 people tested positive for the virus, while 18 more fatalities pushed the death toll to 1,040, a health official said.

The state's quarantine centres reported 1,417 infections and the remaining cases were detected during contact tracing.

Ladakh records 22 new cases, 64 more patients cured

The Union Territory of Ladakh reported 22 new coronavirus cases, taking the total number of COVID-19 cases to 5081, an official bulletin said on Monday.

With 64 more patients cured of the disease, the number of active cases in the region dropped to 980 739 in Leh district and 241 in Kargil district, the bulletin released this morning by the directorate of health services said.

Puducherry logs 189 fresh cases, two deaths push toll to 565

Puducherry on Monday reported 189 new COVID-19 cases taking the overall count in the union territory to 31,737 while two people succumbed to the virus, Health Minister Malladi Krishna Rao said.

The two deaths, both from the Puducherry region of the union territory, took the toll to 565, the Minister told a virtual press meet.

The 189 fresh cases were identified during the last 24 hours at the end of the examination of 2,579 samples, he said.

As many as 264 patients recovered and were discharged from various hospitals in the last 24 hours ending 10 am today, he added.

148 new cases take Arunachal's tally to 12,147

At least 148 more people, including three health workers, have tested positive for COVID-19 in Arunachal Pradesh, pushing the tally to 12,147, an official said on Monday.

The death toll rose to 24 after a 58-year-old man succumbed to the infection at the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) in Naharlagun near here, he said.

"The person from Assam's Biswanath district was admitted to the hospital after he suffered a stroke. He also tested positive for COVID-19 and breathed his last on Sunday. The man was working with a private firm here," State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

With 66K cases, India's tally crosses 71 Lakh

With a spike of 66,732 coronavirus cases and 816 deaths in 24 hours, India's tally on Monday mounted to 71 lakh with a total of 71,20,538 cases.

Out of these, 8,61,853 are currently active, 61,49,535 have been discharged, while 1,09,150 lost the battle against the pandemic.

While the recovery rate stands at 86.36 per cent, the fatality rate is 1.53 per cent, the data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said.

Maharashtra continues to be the worst-hit with a total of 15,28,226 cases including 40,349 deaths; followed by Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.

According to the data from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), India conducted 9,94,851 sample tests in a single day on Sunday, taking the total number of samples tested so far to 8,78,72,093.

58 new cases in Taj city, death toll reaches 132

As life appears limping back to near normalcy, Agra reported its 132nd death and 58 fresh cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

District Magistrate P.N. Singh said the total number of cases now stood at 6,365, of which 5,648 had recovered. The number of active cases was 585, while the number of samples collected is 2,18,586.

The district administration is now gearing up for the festival season and the reopening of educational institutions from next week. The district Covid-19 task force, meanwhile, is more concerned about the changing weather on the one hand and the impact of increased mobility plus social interaction. A surge in numbers could not be ruled out, say the doctors.

1,021 new cases registered in Telangana

Telangana reported 1,021 new corona cases in the last 24 hours.  

The total number of cases reached  21384. So far 12,28 people have died and 2214 new recoveries were reported.

So far 87, 342 people have recovered. Currently, there are 24 514 active cases out of which 20,000  are being treated in home isolation.

Pune district adds 1,720 new COVID-19 cases; 53 die
The COVID-19 tally in Pune district of Maharashtra rose by 1,720 fresh cases in the last 24 hours to 3,06,864, a health official said on Sunday.

With 53 deaths, the total toll in the district mounted to 7,167, he said.

A total of 1,010 patients were discharged after treatment during the day.

"Of the 1,720 cases, 630 infections were reported from the limits of Pune Municipal Corporation, which now has 1,54,230 patients. Pimpri Chinchwad township reported 352 cases," the official said.

The cumulative count of cases in rural, civil hospital and Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) area increased to 68,849, he added.

Assam reports 396 fresh cases, 5 deaths 

Assam on Sunday reported its lowest COVID-19 figures in four months -- 396 fresh cases and five deaths -- Minister for Health and Family Welfare Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

The state's coronavirus tally rose to 1,93,783 and the death toll mounted to 816 with Sunday's numbers.

Samples tested for COVID-19, were, however, also low at 11,376 compared to an average of over 30,000 tests conducted daily.

The deaths were reported from Kamrup Metropolitan, Jorhat, Dima Hasao and Goalpara districts.

Haryana reports 1065 new cases

Haryana reported 1065 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, taking the total cases in the state to 1,42,155.

A total of 1,30,003 patients have been discharged so far, after recovering from the disease while 1579 have succumbed to the virus. The active Covid-19 cases in the state are 10,573, as per the state's Health Department.

In Haryana, the COVID-19 positivity rate is 6.46 per cent, the recovery rate is 91.45 per cent and the fatality rate is 1.11 per cent.

Nine new cases take Mizoram's count to 2,184

Mizoram's COVID-19 count has reached 2,184 with nine new cases, according to the state government on Monday.

As per the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Mizoram government, the number of active cases in the state stand at 174, while 2,010 patients have been cured and discharged so far.

The state has not reported any death due to the disease.  

As per the DIPR, all nine new cases were confirmed through Rapid Antigen detection tests (RAgT) in the Aizawl district.

Recoveries outnumber new cases in Karnataka

Reversing the trend after 4 consecutive days of the surge, recovery of 10,107 patients outnumbered 9,523 new cases across Karnataka till Saturday night.

"With 10,107 recovering in the last 24 hours, 5,80,054 have been discharged till date from across the state, while its COVID tally rose to 7,10,309, including 1,20,270 active cases and 75 succumbed to the infection in the last 24 hours taking the toll to 9,966 so far," said the state health bulletin on Sunday.

Accounting for about 50 per cent of the caseload, Bengaluru registered 4,623 new cases, taking its tally to 2,81,557, including 66,854 active cases, while 2,11,358 recovered with 2,656, discharged in the last 24 hours.

Maharashtra cases drop, deaths remain high

For the second time in six days, Maharashtra's Covid-19 cases plummeted below the 11,000-level, though deaths remained high and continue to cause concerns, health officials said here on Sunday.

The state witnessed another 309 fatalities - lower than the peak of 515 - pushing up the toll from 40,040 to 40,349 now.

The state recorded another 10,792 new infections - lesser than the peak single-day tally of 24,886 - and the state total zoomed from 15,17,434 to 15,28,226 cases till date.

In some relief, the state recovery rate also went up for the sixth day - from 82.76 per cent to 82.86 per cent - while the current mortality (death) rate remained stable at 2.64 per cent for the eighth day.

Against this, 10,461 fully recovered patients returned home taking up the total number of discharged patients shot up from 12,55,779 to 12,66,240 till date - much higher than the 221,174 'active cases' (ill) currently in the state.

J&K reports 569 new cases, tally at 83,633

Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday reported 569 new Covid-19 cases, pushing the Union Territory's tally to 83,633, health officials said.

A statement issued by the Information and Public Relations department said of the 569 fresh infections, 207 from Jammu division and 362 from Kashmir division.

So far, 71,845 have been recovered completely.

1,322 patients have succumbed to the virus till now.

The number of active cases is 10,466 out of which 4,454 are from Jammu division and 6,012 from Kashmir division.

Amaravati: Covid-19 recoveries in Andhra Pradesh reached 7,03,208 on Sunday, health officials said.

The southern state's recoveries have been consistently outnumbering infections for the past several weeks already.

Among the 13 districts, East Godavari witnessed the highest number of recoveries at 97,630.

On Sunday, the state registered 5,210 more cases, raising the tally to 7.55 lakh.

West Godavari accounted for the highest number of infections, 786, followed by Chittoor (713), East Godavari (701), Krishna (462), Guntur (431), Kadapa (418) and Prakasam (362) among others.

With the new additions, Chittoor's tally crossed the 70,000 mark while West Godavari's reached 75,000.

Meanwhile, 30 more patients succumbed to the virus, raising the statewide toll to 6,224.

Chittoor accounts for the highest number of deaths, 705, followed by East Godavari (568), Guntur (560) and Anantapur (524) among others.

Of the 7.55 lakh cases, active cases currently stand at 46,295, even as the state has completed 65.6 lakh COVID tests.

On Sunday, AP tested 75,517 samples for COVID even as the state's positivity rate currently stands at 11.56 per cent.

2,234 fresh COVID-19 cases take UP's tally to 4,39,161; death toll 6,438

Lucknow: The COVID-19 death toll in Uttar Pradesh rose to 6,438 on Monday with 44 more fatalities, while 2,234 fresh cases pushed the infection tally in the state to 4,39,161, officials said.  

Briefing reporters here, Additional Chief Secretary (Medical and Health) Amit Mohan Prasad said so far, 3,93,908 COVID-19 patients have recovered from the disease, taking the recovery rate in the state to 89.5 per cent.

He said 2,234 fresh COVID-19 cases were reported in the state in past 24 hours while in the same period, 3,342 people were discharged.

The count of active COVID-19 cases in the state stands at 38,815, Prasad said, adding that of these, 17,744 are in home isolation.

Naidu recovers from COVID-19

New Delhi: Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on Monday tested negative for COVID-19, his office said.

Naidu had tested positive for coronavirus on September 29.

The 71-year-old was asymptomatic and in good health. He was under home isolation during his recovery from the infection.

"As per today's RT-PCR test conducted by AIIMS, both the vice president and his wife Usha Naidu have tested negative for COVID-19," the Vice President''s Secretariat said in a statement.

Naidu is in good health and is expected to resume normal activities soon as per doctor''s advice, it said.

"He thanked all those who prayed for his well-being," the statement said.

Kalyan Singh recovers from COVID, discharged from hospital

Ghaziabad: Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and BJP leader Kalyan Singh has been discharged from a Ghaziabad hospital after recovering from coronavirus, an official said on Monday.

Kalyan Singh was admitted to Ghaziabad’s Yashoda Super Speciality Hospital on September 16 after he tested positive for the infection.

He was shifted from Lucknow’s Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences to the hospital near the Kaushambi Metro station here.

Singh suffered from other health problems like diabetes, high blood pressure, Parkinson’s disease, kidney and heart-related issues.

Singh expressed gratitude towards the hospital staff for the treatment and said he was happy after being acquitted in the Babri mosque demolition case.

A special CBI court had recently acquitted all 32 accused, including Kalyan Singh, in the case.

His son Rajveer Singh, an MP from UP's Etah, was present at the hospital while he was being discharged. Several BJP leaders from the district reached the hospital to congratulate him.

Mizoram reports 9 fresh COVID-19 cases, tally rises to 2,184

Aizawl: At least nine more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Mizoram, including a one-year-old child, pushing the state's tally to 2,184, an official said on Monday.

All the fresh cases were reported from Aizawl, and were locally-transmitted ones, he said.

Mizoram registered a recovery rate of 92 per cent in the last 24 hours after 2,010 people were discharged from hospitals.

It now has 174 active cases.

Of the state's 11 districts, Siaha, Khawzawl and Hnahthial have so far been unaffected by coronavirus, the official said.

The northeastern state has not reported any COVID-19 fatality so far.

Aizawl district has accounted for the highest number of 1,417 infections followed by Lunglei district (262).

Altogether, 88,551 samples have been tested till date, the health department said.

Odisha's COVID-19 tally surged to 2,54,662 on Monday as 2,423 people tested positive for the virus, while 18 more fatalities pushed the death toll to 1,040, a health official said.

The state's quarantine centres reported 1,417 infections and the remaining cases were detected during contact tracing.

Ladakh records 22 new cases, 64 more patients cured

The Union Territory of Ladakh reported 22 new coronavirus cases, taking the total number of COVID-19 cases to 5081, an official bulletin said on Monday.

With 64 more patients cured of the disease, the number of active cases in the region dropped to 980 739 in Leh district and 241 in Kargil district, the bulletin released this morning by the directorate of health services said.

Puducherry logs 189 fresh cases, two deaths push toll to 565

Puducherry on Monday reported 189 new COVID-19 cases taking the overall count in the union territory to 31,737 while two people succumbed to the virus, Health Minister Malladi Krishna Rao said.

The two deaths, both from the Puducherry region of the union territory, took the toll to 565, the Minister told a virtual press meet.

The 189 fresh cases were identified during the last 24 hours at the end of the examination of 2,579 samples, he said.

As many as 264 patients recovered and were discharged from various hospitals in the last 24 hours ending 10 am today, he added.

148 new cases take Arunachal's tally to 12,147

At least 148 more people, including three health workers, have tested positive for COVID-19 in Arunachal Pradesh, pushing the tally to 12,147, an official said on Monday.

The death toll rose to 24 after a 58-year-old man succumbed to the infection at the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) in Naharlagun near here, he said.

"The person from Assam's Biswanath district was admitted to the hospital after he suffered a stroke. He also tested positive for COVID-19 and breathed his last on Sunday. The man was working with a private firm here," State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

With 66K cases, India's tally crosses 71 Lakh

With a spike of 66,732 coronavirus cases and 816 deaths in 24 hours, India's tally on Monday mounted to 71 lakh with a total of 71,20,538 cases.

Out of these, 8,61,853 are currently active, 61,49,535 have been discharged, while 1,09,150 lost the battle against the pandemic.

While the recovery rate stands at 86.36 per cent, the fatality rate is 1.53 per cent, the data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said.

Maharashtra continues to be the worst-hit with a total of 15,28,226 cases including 40,349 deaths; followed by Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.

According to the data from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), India conducted 9,94,851 sample tests in a single day on Sunday, taking the total number of samples tested so far to 8,78,72,093.

58 new cases in Taj city, death toll reaches 132

As life appears limping back to near normalcy, Agra reported its 132nd death and 58 fresh cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

District Magistrate P.N. Singh said the total number of cases now stood at 6,365, of which 5,648 had recovered. The number of active cases was 585, while the number of samples collected is 2,18,586.

The district administration is now gearing up for the festival season and the reopening of educational institutions from next week. The district Covid-19 task force, meanwhile, is more concerned about the changing weather on the one hand and the impact of increased mobility plus social interaction. A surge in numbers could not be ruled out, say the doctors.

1,021 new cases registered in Telangana

Telangana reported 1,021 new corona cases in the last 24 hours.  

The total number of cases reached  21384. So far 12,28 people have died and 2214 new recoveries were reported.

So far 87, 342 people have recovered. Currently, there are 24 514 active cases out of which 20,000  are being treated in home isolation.

Pune district adds 1,720 new COVID-19 cases; 53 die
The COVID-19 tally in Pune district of Maharashtra rose by 1,720 fresh cases in the last 24 hours to 3,06,864, a health official said on Sunday.

With 53 deaths, the total toll in the district mounted to 7,167, he said.

A total of 1,010 patients were discharged after treatment during the day.

"Of the 1,720 cases, 630 infections were reported from the limits of Pune Municipal Corporation, which now has 1,54,230 patients. Pimpri Chinchwad township reported 352 cases," the official said.

The cumulative count of cases in rural, civil hospital and Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) area increased to 68,849, he added.

Assam reports 396 fresh cases, 5 deaths 

Assam on Sunday reported its lowest COVID-19 figures in four months -- 396 fresh cases and five deaths -- Minister for Health and Family Welfare Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

The state's coronavirus tally rose to 1,93,783 and the death toll mounted to 816 with Sunday's numbers.

Samples tested for COVID-19, were, however, also low at 11,376 compared to an average of over 30,000 tests conducted daily.

The deaths were reported from Kamrup Metropolitan, Jorhat, Dima Hasao and Goalpara districts.

Haryana reports 1065 new cases

Haryana reported 1065 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, taking the total cases in the state to 1,42,155.

A total of 1,30,003 patients have been discharged so far, after recovering from the disease while 1579 have succumbed to the virus. The active Covid-19 cases in the state are 10,573, as per the state's Health Department.

In Haryana, the COVID-19 positivity rate is 6.46 per cent, the recovery rate is 91.45 per cent and the fatality rate is 1.11 per cent.

Nine new cases take Mizoram's count to 2,184

Mizoram's COVID-19 count has reached 2,184 with nine new cases, according to the state government on Monday.

As per the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Mizoram government, the number of active cases in the state stand at 174, while 2,010 patients have been cured and discharged so far.

The state has not reported any death due to the disease.  

As per the DIPR, all nine new cases were confirmed through Rapid Antigen detection tests (RAgT) in the Aizawl district.

Recoveries outnumber new cases in Karnataka

Reversing the trend after 4 consecutive days of the surge, recovery of 10,107 patients outnumbered 9,523 new cases across Karnataka till Saturday night.

"With 10,107 recovering in the last 24 hours, 5,80,054 have been discharged till date from across the state, while its COVID tally rose to 7,10,309, including 1,20,270 active cases and 75 succumbed to the infection in the last 24 hours taking the toll to 9,966 so far," said the state health bulletin on Sunday.

Accounting for about 50 per cent of the caseload, Bengaluru registered 4,623 new cases, taking its tally to 2,81,557, including 66,854 active cases, while 2,11,358 recovered with 2,656, discharged in the last 24 hours.

Maharashtra cases drop, deaths remain high

For the second time in six days, Maharashtra's Covid-19 cases plummeted below the 11,000-level, though deaths remained high and continue to cause concerns, health officials said here on Sunday.

The state witnessed another 309 fatalities - lower than the peak of 515 - pushing up the toll from 40,040 to 40,349 now.

The state recorded another 10,792 new infections - lesser than the peak single-day tally of 24,886 - and the state total zoomed from 15,17,434 to 15,28,226 cases till date.

In some relief, the state recovery rate also went up for the sixth day - from 82.76 per cent to 82.86 per cent - while the current mortality (death) rate remained stable at 2.64 per cent for the eighth day.

Against this, 10,461 fully recovered patients returned home taking up the total number of discharged patients shot up from 12,55,779 to 12,66,240 till date - much higher than the 221,174 'active cases' (ill) currently in the state.

J&K reports 569 new cases, tally at 83,633

Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday reported 569 new Covid-19 cases, pushing the Union Territory's tally to 83,633, health officials said.

A statement issued by the Information and Public Relations department said of the 569 fresh infections, 207 from Jammu division and 362 from Kashmir division.

So far, 71,845 have been recovered completely.

1,322 patients have succumbed to the virus till now.

The number of active cases is 10,466 out of which 4,454 are from Jammu division and 6,012 from Kashmir division.

COVID-19 LIVE: India sustains trend of steadily declining active cases, active caseload only 12.10% of total positive cases, active caseload below 9 lakhs for the 4th consecutive day

Amaravati: Covid-19 recoveries in Andhra Pradesh reached 7,03,208 on Sunday, health officials said.

The southern state's recoveries have been consistently outnumbering infections for the past several weeks already.

Among the 13 districts, East Godavari witnessed the highest number of recoveries at 97,630.

On Sunday, the state registered 5,210 more cases, raising the tally to 7.55 lakh.

West Godavari accounted for the highest number of infections, 786, followed by Chittoor (713), East Godavari (701), Krishna (462), Guntur (431), Kadapa (418) and Prakasam (362) among others.

With the new additions, Chittoor's tally crossed the 70,000 mark while West Godavari's reached 75,000.

Meanwhile, 30 more patients succumbed to the virus, raising the statewide toll to 6,224.

Chittoor accounts for the highest number of deaths, 705, followed by East Godavari (568), Guntur (560) and Anantapur (524) among others.

Of the 7.55 lakh cases, active cases currently stand at 46,295, even as the state has completed 65.6 lakh COVID tests.

On Sunday, AP tested 75,517 samples for COVID even as the state's positivity rate currently stands at 11.56 per cent.
