Rajasthan reports 287 fresh cases, 4 more deaths due to coronavirus

Four deaths and 287 fresh coronavirus positive cases were reported in Rajasthan on Thursday, taking the total number of fatalities and positive cases to 379 and 16,296 respectively.

Three deaths were reported from Bikaner and one from Sawaimadhopur. With this, the number of deaths due to COVID-19 has gone up to 379, a state government official said.

Delhi records 3,390 fresh cases, 64 more die due to COVID-19

The national capital recorded 3,390 fresh coronavirus cases on Thursday, taking the COVID-19 tally in the city to 73,780, and the death toll due to the disease to 2,175, authorities said.

Since last Thursday, the case count in the city has touched or breached the 3,000-mark on six out of seven days.

10 CRPF personnel among 127 fresh COVID cases in J-K, tally rises to 6,549

As many as 127 more people, including 10 CRPF personnel, tested positive for COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, taking the tally in the Union territory to 6,549, officials said.

They said 14 of these cases were from Jammu region, while 113 were from the valley.

Mumbai's slum colony of Dharavi recorded 11 new cases of COVID-19, taking the tally to 2,210 on Thursday, the city civic body said.

According to a senior Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official, no fresh death was reported in Dharavi in the past 24 hours, keeping the tollunchanged at 81.

A court staff posted at the Rohini District Courts Complex here has tested positive for COVID-19, a circular said on Thursday.

According to the circular issued by District Judge R P Pandey, the staff was posted as the Reader in the court of Additional District Judge Sanjay Jindal and tested positive for the infection on June 22.

Central team to visit Maharashtra, Gujarat, Telangana to bolster COVID-19 management efforts

A central team, led by Joint Secretary in the Health Ministry Lav Agarwal, will visit Gujarat, Maharashtra and Telangana between June 26 and 29 to coordinate with the state officials in strengthening COVID-19 management efforts in those areas, the ministry said on Thursday. 

According to officials, the team will also review the measures undertaken by the states for containment of COVID-19.

First COVID-19 death in Arunachal Pradesh

Arunachal Pradesh has recorded its first COVID-19 fatality after a 43-year-old woman succumbed to the disease, while two new coronavirus cases have been reported, taking the northeast state's tally to 160, officials said on Thursday.

The woman, a resident of West Kameng district, was suffering from chronic kidney disease and had returned from Delhi on June 11. She was kept at an institutional quarantine at Dirang. As her health deteriorated, she was tested for COVID-19 and was found positive on June 23.

Puducherry reports 39 fresh COVID-19 cases, overall tally rises to 502

Puducherry on Thursday reported 39 new COVID-19 positive cases taking the overall tally in the union territory to 502.

The fresh cases include two residents of Puducherry undergoing treatment in hospitals in Cuddalore and Chidambaram in Tamil Nadu, a medical bulletin of the Department of Health and Family Welfare Services said.

Over 75 lakh COVID-19 tests conducted till June 24: ICMR

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) on Thursday informed that over 75 lakh COVID-19 tests were conducted by various laboratories across the country till June 24.

Moreover, 2,07,871 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.

"75,60,782 samples tested till June 24. 2,07,871 samples tested in the last 24 hours," the ICMR said.

In an effort to ramp up testing capacity, the ICMR has approved a total of 1,000 COVID-19 testing labs in both public (730) and private sector (270). This includes RT-PCR labs (557); TrueNat Labs (363) and CBNAAT Labs (80).

The latest advisory of ICMR on COVID-19 strategies advises all concerned state governments, public and private institutions to take required steps to scale-up testing for COVID19.

The ICMR had also recommended all laboratories and hospitals initiating testing through the rapid antigen test need to ensure that all symptomatic negative patients should be essentially referred to a real-time RT-PCR test for COVID19. The data of individuals tested by RT-PCR will need to be entered through the lab performing the RTPCR test.

With the highest single-day spike of 16,922 cases in the last 24 hours, India's COVID-19 count reached 4,73,105 on Thursday.The country also saw 418 deaths in the last 24 hours, which pushed its death toll to 14,894, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said.

India records worst spike of 17K COVID cases

India witnessed highest spike of almost 17,000 fresh Covid cases, with Maharashtra, Delhi and Tamil Nadu contributing more than 62 per cent of it in the past 24 hours taking the total in the country to 4.73 lakh, data from the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry revealed on Thursday.

A total of 16,922 new cases egged the tally to 4,73,105 so far as India continued to be the fourth worst hit country by the pandemic. According to the Health Ministry data, in the last 24 hours 418 new deaths were reported taking the total tally of fatalities to 14,894 in the country.

Over 1,000 cases more were recorded in 24 hours than what we saw on Wednesday, when 15,968 new COVID-19 cases were reported.

Maharashtra, Delhi and Tamil Nadu continued at the top contributing almost 62 per cent of the total spike of the Covid-19 cases.

There are currently 1,86,514 active and 2,71,696 recoveries. The number of patients recovering from COVID-19 continues to rise. The recovery rate has further improved to almost 57.42 per cent.

46 new COVID-19 cases in Indore, district tally rises to 4,507

As many as 46 new coronavirus cases were reported in Indore on Wednesday, as per the data provided by the District Health Department.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in the district stood at 4,507, including 3,344 discharged cases and 211 fatalities.

India's coronavirus count stood at 4,56,183 on Wednesday, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The total number of cases include 1,83,022 active cases, 2,58,685 cured/discharged/migrated and 14,476 deaths.

New Delhi: At least 7,423 people (4.16 per cent) required ventilator support across the country as of Tuesday evening, out of the total confirmed coronavirus cases reported in India so far, said a government official.

While 27,317 COVID-19 patients (nearly 15.34 per cent) require an ICU setting and 28,301 patients (15.89 per cent) were on oxygen support to date.

According to the Union Health Ministry, the total number of COVID-19 cases climbed to 4,56,183 and the death toll rose to 14,476 on Wednesday. The country reported 465 fatalities and a record single-day spike of new cases 15,968 in the last 24 hours.

"Cumulative number of cases till June 23, 6 pm -- ICU: 27,317 (15.34 per cent); ventilator: 7,423 (4.16 per cent) and oxygen: 28,301 (15.89 per cent)," said the official.

"In total active cases as on June 23, 2.57 per cent were in ICU as against 2.53 per cent as on June 22. While 0.54 per cent were on ventilators and 2.99 per cent on oxygen as against with 2.82 per cent as on June 22," added the official.

As per the Union Health Ministry, the number of COVID-19 patients recovering every day is growing too. During the last 24 hours, a total of 10,495 COVID-19 patients have been cured. A total of 2,58,684 patients have been cured.

The recovery rate is 56.71 per cent amongst COVID-19 patients.

"India has one of the lowest deaths per lakh population in the world. The World Health Organisation (WHO) situation report 154 on June 22 noted that India has one of the lowest deaths per lakh population. India's cases of death per lakh population are 1.00 while the global average is more than six times at 6.04," stated the ministry.

As per the ICMR, since rigorous testing, tracking and treatment is the only way to prevent the spread of infection and save lives, the apex medical research body -- ICMR has advised all concerned state governments, public and private institutions to take required steps to scale-up testing for COVID-19.

"Cumulative number of cases till June 23, 6 pm -- ICU: 27,317 (15.34 per cent); ventilator: 7,423 (4.16 per cent) and oxygen: 28,301 (15.89 per cent)," said the official.

"In total active cases as on June 23, 2.57 per cent were in ICU as against 2.53 per cent as on June 22. While 0.54 per cent were on ventilators and 2.99 per cent on oxygen as against with 2.82 per cent as on June 22," added the official.

As per the Union Health Ministry, the number of COVID-19 patients recovering every day is growing too. During the last 24 hours, a total of 10,495 COVID-19 patients have been cured. A total of 2,58,684 patients have been cured.

The recovery rate is 56.71 per cent amongst COVID-19 patients.

"India has one of the lowest deaths per lakh population in the world. The World Health Organisation (WHO) situation report 154 on June 22 noted that India has one of the lowest deaths per lakh population. India's cases of death per lakh population are 1.00 while the global average is more than six times at 6.04," stated the ministry.

As per the ICMR, since rigorous testing, tracking and treatment is the only way to prevent the spread of infection and save lives, the apex medical research body -- ICMR has advised all concerned state governments, public and private institutions to take required steps to scale-up testing for COVID-19.
