A total of 3,19,414 samples have been tested so far in the state.

meetings, an official said on Saturday. The legislator's wife has also tested positive for the infection, he said. Voting for three Rajya Sabha seats in the state took place on Friday.
The couple's test reports came on Friday night and the news of the MLA's infection triggered panic among other MLAs with some of them reaching hospitals to get themselves tested.

With 42 persons testing positive for coronavirus, the case count in Madhya Pradesh's Indore district has reached 4,288 on Saturday, a health official said.

At least 1,768 swab samples were tested in the district, of which reports of 42 patients have come out positive in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 4,288, the official said.

The district also recorded four deaths that have taken the toll to 193, he said.

Rajasthan reported 158 fresh coronavirus cases on Saturday, taking the state's infection tally to 14,314, officials said.

The state has so far reported 333 deaths due to the virus.

Of the fresh cases, 40 were from Dholpur, followed by 36 from Jaipur, and 34 from Bharatpur. Jhalawar reported 12 cases, while 11 cases were reported from Sirohi.

Arunachal records highest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases with 32 new infections

Arunachal Pradesh registered its highest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases as 32 more people tested positive for it, a senior health official said on Saturday.

The fresh cases raised the virus count in the northeastern state to 135 on Friday, the official said.

"The new patients, all returnees from other states, were placed under institutional quarantine. They are asymptomatic and have been admitted to COVID-19 care centres," State Surveillance Officer, Dr L Jampa, said in a health bulletin issued on Saturday.

Thirteen of the new patients are from the state capital while 10 are from worst-hit Changlang district, eight from West Kameng and one from Lohit district, he said.

Of the 135 cases, 121 are active, while 14 people have recovered, the official said.

At least 85 persons have tested positive for coronavirus in Maharashtra's Nagpur district in the last 24 hours, taking the tally in the region to 1,228, a district official said on Saturday.

No new casualties were reported in the district, where 18 persons have succumbed to the infection so far, the official said.

Pune district's count of COVID-19 cases crosses 14,000-mark

The number of coronavirus positive cases in Pune district of Maharashtra crossed the 14,000-mark after 542 people were found infected in the last 24 hours, a health official said on Saturday.

The COVID-19 case count of the district now stands at 14,292, the official said.

As the virus claimed eight more lives in the district, its death toll has reached 560, he said.

"Of the 542 cases, at least 359 were reported from the areas controlled by Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), where the count has reached 11,554. However, 157 patients were also discharged from hospitals, the official added.

With the rise of 32 cases in neighbouring Pimpri Chinchwad, the COVID-19 tally there has grown to 1,381, he said.

52 COVID-19 cases reported in Pondy; tally mounts to 338

Puducherry recorded 52 fresh cases of COVID-19, its highest single day spike so far, taking the tally of infections in the Union Territory to 338.

Director of Health and Family Welfare Services S Mohan told reporters on Saturday that after shifting one patient taking treatment in Maharashtra from the portal of Puducherry and with the outbreak of 52 fresh cases, the aggregate stood at 338 during last 24 hours.

While the number of active cases stood at 200, the total patients treated and discharged were 131 and the fatalities remained seven, he said.

Odisha's COVID-19 death toll rises to 12; 179 new cases detected

A 60-year-old man from Puri district became the latest COVID-19 fatality in Odisha, raising the death toll due to the contagion in the state to 12, a health department official said on Saturday.

Odisha also recorded 179 new cases of the respiratory ailment, including 18 disaster response personnel, he said.

"Regret to report the death of a 60-year-old COVID positive male of Puri district while under treatment at hospital," the Health and Family Welfare Department said in a statement.

"The deceased was also suffering for long from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease," it said.

1,89,869 samples tested for COVID-19 in last 24 hours: ICMR

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) on Saturday informed that 1,89,869 coronavirus tests were conducted by various laboratories across the country in the last 24 hours.

This is the highest number of tests conducted by the laboratories in a single day.

So far, 66, 16,496 tests have been conducted.

As of now, a total of 953 laboratories across India have been given approval to conduct the test.

This includes 699 government laboratories and 254 private laboratory chains.

India records highest single-day spike of 14,516 COVID-19

With the highest single-day increase of 14,516 COVID-19 cases reported in the last 24 hours, India's coronavirus count stood at 3,95,048 on Saturday.

The death toll has gone up to 12,948 in the country with 375 persons succumbing to the infection.

According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of cases includes 1,68,269 active cases, 2,13,831 cured/discharged/migrated and 12,948 deaths.

Maharashtra with 1,24,331 cases continues to be the worst-affected state in the country with 55,665 active cases while 62,773 patients have been cured and discharged in the state so far. The death toll due to COVID-19 stands at 5,893 in the state.

The number of confirmed cases in Tamil Nadu also crossed the 50 thousand mark on Saturday and reached 54,449.

The national capital is the third-worst affected by the infection in the country with the count reaching 53,116 today.

Telangana records highest single-day spike of 499 COVID-19 positive cases

Hyderabad: Telangana recorded the highest single-day spike of 499 positive cases of COVID-19 on Friday, as per information provided by the State government.

Out of the total cases, 329 cases were reported from Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), 129 cases were reported from Ranga Reddy, seven were reported from Jangaon, six from Mahabubnagar.

In addition, four cases each were reported from Medchal, Mancherial, Warangal-U, Nalgonda, and Nizamabad, two each from Khammam and Suryapet, and one each from Sangareddy, Jagityal, Karimnagar, and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri.

Three new deaths due to COVID-19 were reported along with 51 discharged cases, taking the total number of deaths to 198 and discharged patients to 3,352.

At present, there are 2,976 active cases in the state.

While the number of active cases stood at 200, the total patients treated and discharged were 131 and the fatalities remained seven, he said.

Odisha's COVID-19 death toll rises to 12; 179 new cases detected

A 60-year-old man from Puri district became the latest COVID-19 fatality in Odisha, raising the death toll due to the contagion in the state to 12, a health department official said on Saturday.

Odisha also recorded 179 new cases of the respiratory ailment, including 18 disaster response personnel, he said.

"Regret to report the death of a 60-year-old COVID positive male of Puri district while under treatment at hospital," the Health and Family Welfare Department said in a statement.

"The deceased was also suffering for long from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease," it said.

1,89,869 samples tested for COVID-19 in last 24 hours: ICMR

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) on Saturday informed that 1,89,869 coronavirus tests were conducted by various laboratories across the country in the last 24 hours.

This is the highest number of tests conducted by the laboratories in a single day.

So far, 66, 16,496 tests have been conducted.

As of now, a total of 953 laboratories across India have been given approval to conduct the test.

This includes 699 government laboratories and 254 private laboratory chains.

India records highest single-day spike of 14,516 COVID-19

With the highest single-day increase of 14,516 COVID-19 cases reported in the last 24 hours, India's coronavirus count stood at 3,95,048 on Saturday.

The death toll has gone up to 12,948 in the country with 375 persons succumbing to the infection.

According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of cases includes 1,68,269 active cases, 2,13,831 cured/discharged/migrated and 12,948 deaths.

Maharashtra with 1,24,331 cases continues to be the worst-affected state in the country with 55,665 active cases while 62,773 patients have been cured and discharged in the state so far. The death toll due to COVID-19 stands at 5,893 in the state.

The number of confirmed cases in Tamil Nadu also crossed the 50 thousand mark on Saturday and reached 54,449.

The national capital is the third-worst affected by the infection in the country with the count reaching 53,116 today.

Telangana records highest single-day spike of 499 COVID-19 positive cases

Hyderabad: Telangana recorded the highest single-day spike of 499 positive cases of COVID-19 on Friday, as per information provided by the State government.

Out of the total cases, 329 cases were reported from Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), 129 cases were reported from Ranga Reddy, seven were reported from Jangaon, six from Mahabubnagar.

In addition, four cases each were reported from Medchal, Mancherial, Warangal-U, Nalgonda, and Nizamabad, two each from Khammam and Suryapet, and one each from Sangareddy, Jagityal, Karimnagar, and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri.

Three new deaths due to COVID-19 were reported along with 51 discharged cases, taking the total number of deaths to 198 and discharged patients to 3,352.

At present, there are 2,976 active cases in the state.
