COVID-19: Ladakh's death toll now 50, total cases 3,832

The coronavirus death toll has risen to 50 in Ladakh as one more patient succumbed to the disease, while 79 new infections took the caseload to 3,832, officials said on Tuesday.

There are 1,047 active coronavirus cases in the Union Territory now, of which 591 are in Leh and 456 in Kargil district, the officials said.

Maha: 1,550 new COVID-19 cases in Thane, 29 fresh deaths

The COVID-19 count in Maharashtra's Thane district has gone up to 1,60,253 with the addition of 1,550 new cases, an official said on Tuesday.

The death toll has gone up to 4,172 after 29 patients succumbed to the disease in the district on Monday, he said.

210 fresh cases take Arunachal's COVID-19 tally to 7,595

Arunachal Pradesh's COVID-19 tally rose to 7,595 on Tuesday as 210 more people, including 13 security personnel, tested positive for the disease, a

health department official said.

The Capital Complex region reported the highest number of new cases at 101, followed by Changlang at 18, Pakke Kessang at 12, Lower Siang at 11 and West Siang at 10, State Surveillance Officer Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

Former Tonk MLA dies of COVID

Former MLA from Rajasthan's Tonk Zakia Inam died due to COVID-19 on Monday.

She was admitted to the hospital late night in Jaipur.

Rajasthan's Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot condoled the leader's demise.

76 deaths, 2,338 more COVID-19 cases in Pune  

As many as 76 deaths and 2,338 fresh coronavirus cases were reported on Monday in Pune along with 3,007 recoveries, informed Dr Bhagawan Pawar, District Health Officer, Zila Parishad, Pune.

A total of 76 deaths were reported yesterday, taking the toll to 5,774.

Pondy registers 493 new cases and six more deaths due to COVID-19

Puducherry posted 493 fresh cases of coronavirus and six related fatalities on Tuesday, taking the overall tally of infections to 23,684. 

Director of Health and Family Welfare S Mohan Kumar said in a release that six more people including four women died of the illness in government hospitals, pushing the toll to 473. 

The new cases were identified after examination of 5,580 people.

Odisha reports 4,189 new COVID-19 cases, 11 fresh fatalities

Odisha's COVID-19 tally rose to 1,88,311 on Tuesday as 4,189 more people tested positive for the infection, while 11 fresh fatalities pushed the
state's coronavirus death toll to 721, a health official said.

As many as 2,453 new cases were reported in quarantine centres, while 1,736 people tested positive for the infection during contact tracing, he said.

Khurda district, under which Bhubaneswar falls, reported the highest number of new cases at 712, followed by Cuttack (586), Puri (265) and Sundergarh (201), the official said.

Two fresh fatalities each were reported in Balasore, Odisha now has 38,158 active coronavirus cases, while 1,49,379 people have recovered from the disease so far. 

The state has so far tested over 28.60 lakh samples for COVID-19, including 45,676 on Monday.

The toll rose to 1,052 as 10 more succumbed to the illness, a state government bulletin said on Tuesday, providing data as of 8 PM on September 21.

2-month-old baby among 107 new COVID-19 patients in Mizoram

Aizawl: As many as 107 more people, including a two-month-old baby, have tested positive for COVID-19 in Mizoram, a health official said on Tuesday.

The fresh infections have pushed the northeastern state's coronavirus tally to 1,692, he said, adding all the new cases were reported in Aizawl.

India's COVID-19 tally crosses 55-lakh mark

India's COVID-19 infection tally crossed 55 lakh on Tuesday, while a record1,01,468 patients recovered in a day, taking their number to 44,97,867 and pushing the recovery rate to 80.86 per cent, the Union health ministry data showed.

The coronavirus caseload in the country surged to 55,62,663, with 75,083 new infections being reported in a span of 24 hours, while the death toll climbed to88,935as the virus claimed 1,053 more lives during the same period, according to the data updated at 8 am.

The COVID-19casefatality rate was recorded at 1.60 per cent.

There are9,75,861active cases of the coronavirus infection in the country which comprises 17.54 per cent of the total caseload, the data stated.

India's COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and it went past 50 lakh on September 16.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, a cumulative total of 6,53,25,779 samples have been tested up to September 21, with 9,33,185 samples being tested on Monday.

Jharkhand reports 1,321 new COVID-19 cases, 9 fresh fatalities

Ranchi: Jharkhand's COVID-19 caseload rose to 72,673 on Tuesday as 1,321 more people tested positive for the infection, a health official said.

Nine more patients succumbed to the infection, taking the state's coronavirus death toll to 626, he said.

The state now has 13,504 active COVID-19 cases, while 58,543 people have been cured of the disease so far, the official said.

Jharkhand has tested 37,483 samples for coronavirus in the last 24 hours, he added.
