Karnataka coronavirus cases touch 2.27 lakh, death toll 3,947

Over 7,000 fresh coronavirus cases and 124 deaths took the tally to 2.27 lakh and the toll to 3,947 in Karnataka on Sunday, the health department said.

The state's total rose to 2,26,966 with the addition of 7,040 cases while 6,680 people were discharged, taking the cumulative recoveries to 1,41,491.

The active cases stood at 81,512, including 692 in the intensive care units in different hospitals, the department said in a statement.

West Bengal reports 3,066 new COVID-19 cases, 51 more deaths

West Bengal's COVID-19 toll rose to 2,428 with 51 more patients losing their lives on Sunday, as per an official bulletin. The state also reported 3,066 new cases of coronavirus infection, taking the tally to 1,16,498, the bulletin issued by the Health Department said.

Total 2,935 people recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours, improving the discharge rate to 74.48 per cent. There are 27,299 active cases in the state at present, it said.

The state tested 32,286 samples for COVID-19 since Saturday, it added.

Punjab reports steepest single-day spike of 1,165 COVID-19 cases, 41 deaths

The highest single-day spike of 1,165 coronavirus cases and a record 41 fatalities pushed the COVID-19 tally in Punjab to 31,206 and the death toll to 812 on Sunday, according to a bulletin by the state government.

Kerala reports over 1,500 COVID-19 cases

Kerala on Sunday reported over 1,500 COVID-19 cases for the fourth straight day, taking the tally to 44,415 while Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and seven of his cabinet colleagues along with top officials tested negative, several of them for the second time. As many as 53 health workers were among the 1,530 fresh cases, 1,351 of them through contacts, and ten COVID-19 deaths took the toll due to the infection to 156, Health Minister K K Shailaja said in a health department release.

Highest single-day rise of 1,022 COVID-19 cases in Madhya Pradesh

Madhya Pradesh reported its highest single-day spike of 1,022 coronavirus cases on Sunday, pushing the state's overall count to 45,455, state health officials said.

The death toll rose to 1,105 as 11 patients succumbed to the infection, the officials said.

COVID-19 death toll crosses 20,000-mark in Maharashtra

The coronavirus death toll in Maharashtra breached the 20,000-mark on Sunday after 288 patients succumbed to the infection, a state health official said. The state reported 11,111 new positive cases during the day, which pushed its overall tally to 5,95,865, he said. The number of deaths caused by the infection now stands at 20,037, the official said.

A total of 8,837 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery on Sunday, taking the count of such persons to 4,17,123. There are 1,58,395 active cases in the state now, the official added.

Mumbai reported 1,010 new cases and 47 deaths. This took the number of cases in the city to 1,28,726 and death toll to 7,133. The number of active cases in Mumbai is 17,825 now, he added. So far 31,62,740 tests have been carried out in the state.

1,120 new cases take tally to 78,783 in Gujarat; 20 die

The number of COVID-19 cases in Gujarat rose by 1,120 to 78,783 on Sunday, state Health department said.

With 20 more patients succumbing to the infection, the toll went up to 2,787, it said. A total of 959 patients were discharged in the day, taking the number of recoveries to 61,496, the department said.

The state tested 50,560 samples in the last 24 hours, which comes at the rate of 777.84 tests per day per million, it said.
A total 13,12,824 samples have been tested so far in the state, it said.

Punjab revenue minister tests positive for coronavirus

Punjab Revenue Minister Gurpreet Singh Kangar has tested positive for coronavirus, a health official said on Sunday.
He is now under home isolation and samples of his family members have also been taken for testing, the official said. Kangar had hoisted the national flag in Mansa during Independence Day celebrations on Saturday.
A health official said the health teams have been tracing people who came in contact with the minister. Those who were in close contact with Kangar would be tested for COVID-19, said an official.
Kangar is the second minister from the state to have contracted coronavirus. Earlier, Cabinet Minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa had tested positive for the infection.

Tripura's COVID-19 tally increases to 7,079 with 127 fresh cases

Tripura reported 127 new COVID-19 cases, taking the state's tally to 7,079, while the death toll increased to 55 as five more people succumbed to the virus, a health department official said.

The state now has 1,855 active cases while 5,151 people have recovered from the disease, the official said.

No. of COVID-19 recoveries crosses 1 lakh-mark in UP

The number of COVID-19 patients who have recovered from the disease crossed the one lakh-mark in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday even as the state reported 56 more fatalities due to the coronavirus, pushing the death toll to 2,449, an official said.

The number of patients who have recovered from the disease now stands at 1,00,432 in Uttar Pradesh and the recovery rate is 65.03 per cent, Additional Chief Secretary, Medical and Health, Amit Mohan Prasad told reporters here.

With the 4,357 fresh cases, the state's COVID-19 tally is now 1,54,418, a bulletin issued by the health department said.

However, according to Prasad, the count of fresh cases is 4,454.

With 56 more people succumbing to COVID-19, the death toll due to the viral disease has climbed to 2,449 in the state, he said.

The number of active coronavirus cases stands at 51,537, the official said, adding that the fatality rate of the disease is 1.58 per cent in Uttar Pradesh.

Dilip Kumar's brothers test positive for COVID-19, admitted to hospital

Legendary actor Dilip Kumar's brothers, Ehsaan Khan and Aslam Khan, have tested positive for COVID-19 and are currently in hospital.  

Ehsaan, 90 and Aslam, 88, were admitted to Lilavati Hospital late Saturday night after they complained of breathlessness.  

Both the brothers, who live separately from Dilip Kumar, are being treated by Dr Jalil Parkar.  

"They were brought to the hospital late Saturday night. They have tested positive for COVID-19. Their oxygen levels are low and both of them are on non-invasive ventilator support," Parkar said.

As many as 2,924 new COVID-19 cases and 1,521 recoveries were reported in Odisha, said the state government on Sunday.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in the state now stands at 60,050, including 18,928 active cases and 40,726 recoveries.

Cyclist Triyasha Paul has tested positive for COVID-19 after arriving here for the national camp and she is currently in isolation, the Sports Authority of India (SAI) said on Sunday.

"Cyclist Triyasha Paul, who is a part of the national cycling camp which is scheduled to start at Indira Gandhi National Stadium, has tested Covid 19 positive," the SAI said in a release.

Utpal Parrikar tests coronavirus positive

BJP leader Utpal Parrikar, who is the son of former Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar, said he has tested positive for coronavirus and got admitted to a hospital on the advice of doctors.

After his test results came out, Uptal Parrikar told reporters on Saturday evening that he tested positive for COVID-19. "Its a mild infection, so I would be home quarantined, he then said.

On Sunday, he tweeted saying, "On advice of Doctors and to take proper line of treatment, I've got admitted to Hospital. Thank you everyone for the wishes."

The figure includes 1,307 active cases and 2,635 recoveries.

Delhi recorded 1,276 new COVID-19 cases yesterday, taking the caseload to over 1.5 lakh, while the death toll rose to 4,188 with 10 new fatalities, authorities said.

The total number of cases now stands at 1,51,928, while 10 fresh deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours, taking the toll to 4,188. A total of 1.36 lakh patients have recovered, migrated out or been discharged with the number being 1,143 in the last 24 hours. The recovery rate stands at 89.68 percent.

Record one-day spike of 1,287 new COVID-19 cases; Rajasthan tally nears 60,000-mark

Rajasthan recorded highest single-day spike of 1,287 new COVID-19 cases and 16 deaths due to the disease yesterday, taking the state's infection tally to 59,979. The COVID-19 death toll in the state stands at 862, officials said.

A total of 13,863 people are undergoing treatment for the disease whereas 43,819 have been discharged, they said.

Pune district reported 2,432 new coronavirus cases on Saturday, taking its case count to 1,22,397, a health official said on Saturday.

The death toll in the district reached 2,957 with 62 persons succumbing to the infection during the day.

As many as 1,145 patients were discharged from hospitals.

COVID-19 LIVE: West Bengal's COVID-19 tally jumps to 1,13,432 with record 3,074 fresh cases

Kolkata: West Bengal reported its highest single-day spike of 3,074 COVID-19 cases on Saturday, pushing the tally in the state to 1,13,432, the health department said.

The death toll climbed to 2,377 after 58 more patients succumbed to the virus, it said in a bulletin.

Out of the 58 deaths, 54 were due to the comorbidities where COVID-19 was incidental.

Since Friday, 2,647 people have recovered from the disease, taking the total number of recoveries to 83,836, the department said.

West Bengal now has 27,219 active cases. Of the fresh fatalities, Kolkata accounted for 21 deaths, while 15 casualties were reported from North 24
Parganas and five from South 24 Parganas. The rest of the 17 deaths were registered in 10 other districts.

The metropolis also topped the list of new infections with 671 cases, followed by 642 in North 24 Parganas, 204 in Paschim Medinipur, 190 each from South 24 Parganas and Howrah districts, 177 in Hooghly, 174 in Purba Medinipur and 136 in Malda, the bulletin said.

The remaining of the 690 cases were reported from 15 other districts of the state.

In the last 24 hours, 34,214 samples were tested while 12,82,486 such tests have been conducted in West Bengal till date.

Pune district reported 2,432 new coronavirus cases on Saturday, taking its case count to 1,22,397, a health official said on Saturday.

The death toll in the district reached 2,957 with 62 persons succumbing to the infection during the day.

As many as 1,145 patients were discharged from hospitals.

COVID-19 LIVE: West Bengal's COVID-19 tally jumps to 1,13,432 with record 3,074 fresh cases

Kolkata: West Bengal reported its highest single-day spike of 3,074 COVID-19 cases on Saturday, pushing the tally in the state to 1,13,432, the health department said.

The death toll climbed to 2,377 after 58 more patients succumbed to the virus, it said in a bulletin.

Out of the 58 deaths, 54 were due to the comorbidities where COVID-19 was incidental.

Since Friday, 2,647 people have recovered from the disease, taking the total number of recoveries to 83,836, the department said.

West Bengal now has 27,219 active cases. Of the fresh fatalities, Kolkata accounted for 21 deaths, while 15 casualties were reported from North 24
Parganas and five from South 24 Parganas. The rest of the 17 deaths were registered in 10 other districts.

The metropolis also topped the list of new infections with 671 cases, followed by 642 in North 24 Parganas, 204 in Paschim Medinipur, 190 each from South 24 Parganas and Howrah districts, 177 in Hooghly, 174 in Purba Medinipur and 136 in Malda, the bulletin said.

The remaining of the 690 cases were reported from 15 other districts of the state.

In the last 24 hours, 34,214 samples were tested while 12,82,486 such tests have been conducted in West Bengal till date.
