India's Covid tally nears 74L, nearly 65L cured

New Delhi: With a spike of 63,371 coronavirus cases and 895 deaths in 24 hours, India's tally reached 73,70,469 cases, the Union Health Ministry data said on Friday.

Out of these, 64,53,779 have been discharged, 8,04,528 are currently active while 1,12,161 lost the battle against the pandemic. According to the Ministry, India continues to have one of the lowest deaths per million population globally, presently pegged at 80.

COVID-19 cases in India rises to 73,70,468

New Delhi: India's COVID-19 caseload rose to 73,70,468 with 63,371 new infections reported in a day, while the number of people who have recuperated from the disease crossed 64 lakh pushing the recovery rate to 87.56 per cent, according to the Health Ministry data updated on Friday. The coronavirus death toll climbed to 1,12,161 with the virus claiming 895 lives in a span of 24 hours, the data updated at 8 am showed.

Andaman's tally rises to 4,062 with 16 new cases

Port Blair: The COVID-19 tally of Andaman and Nicobar Islands rose to 4,062 on Friday as 16 more people tested positive for the infection, a health official said. Thirteen fresh cases were detected during contact tracing, while three patients have travel history, he said.
