Nine RSS workers living at Sangh headquarters contract virus
Nine senior workers of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) who live in the organization's headquarters here have tested positive for coronavirus, a Sangh functionary said on Saturday.
"Nine swayamsevaks, mostly senior citizens, tested positive two or three days ago. All have been quarantined properly and the headquarters has been fully sanitized," he said.

Kerala reported the highest single day surge of COVID-19 cases- 4,644 on Saturday, taking the infection count to 1,31,025, while the toll mounted
to 519 with 18 more deaths.
This is the third consecutive day that over 4000 cases have been reported from the southern state.
As many as 4,351 and 4,167 positive cases were detected on Thursday and Friday respectively.
With 2,862 recoveries today, the active cases touched 37,487.

UP's COVID-19 tally rises to 3,48,517 with 5,827 new cases
With 5,827 fresh COVID-19 cases, the total number of those infected by the virus in Uttar Pradesh went up to 3,48,517 on Saturday.
A total 4,953 fatalities have been reported in the state so far while the number of active cases stood at 66,874, Additional Chief Secretary Health, Amit Mohan Prasad.
As many as 2,76,690 patients have fully recovered and discharged from hospitals, he said, adding that the recovery rate in the state at present is 79.39 per cent.

Tripura reports 535 new cases, 7 fresh fatalities
Tripura's COVID-19 tally rose to 21,507 on Saturday as 535 more people tested positive for the infection, a health official said.
Seven fresh fatalities pushed the northeastern state's coronavirus death toll to 235, he said.
West Tripura district, under which Agartala falls, has accounted for 130 of the 235 COVID-19 deaths reported in the state so far, the official said.
Tripura now has 7,107 active coronavirus cases, while 14,142 people have recovered from the disease so far, and 23 patients have migrated to other states, he said.

Jharkhand: District judge tests positive for COVID-19
Latehar (Jharkhand): A district judge has tested positive for COVID-19 in Jharkhand, an official said on Saturday.
The samples of Latehar Principal District and Sessions Judge Vishnu Kant Sahay were collected for a COVID-19 test on Friday, the result of which returned as positive, Civil Surgeon Dr S K Srivastava said.
He is being treated at his residence as per protocol, Srivastava said.

K'taka Dy CM tests corona positive, in home isolation
Bengaluru: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister Ashwath Narayan on Saturday said he had tested coronavirus positive and was now in home isolation in the city.
"Ahead of the Monsoon Session of the Assembly from Monday, I underwent a Covid-19 test on Saturday, and its result has turned positive. I am asymptomatic but will be in home isolation," tweeted Narayan.
"I request all those who have come in contact with me to take precautions," Narayan added.
Narayan, 51, is one of the 3 Deputy CMs in the BJP government and represents Malleshwaram segment in the city's northwest suburb in the Assembly.
The other two Deputy CMs are Govind Karjol and Laxman Savadi.

Raj reports 813 new cases, 7 deaths
Seven deaths and 813 new coronavirus cases were reported in Rajasthan on Saturday.
Two deaths were reported from Hanumangarh while Ajmer, Banswara, Jaipur, Jaisalmer and Sikar reported one death each, taking the total number of fatalities in the state to 1,315, according to an official report here.
The cumulative number of positive cases in the state increased to 1,12,103 with 813 fresh cases.
The maximum cases were reported from Jaipur (132) followed by Jodhpur (86), Kota (68), Ajmer (67), Udaipur (49), Alwar (45), and Bhilwara (40).
There are 18,485 active cases in the state at present.

Odisha reports 4,209 new cases, 9 fresh fatalities
Odisha's COVID-19 tally rose to 1,75,550 on Saturday as 4,209 more people tested positive for the infection, while nine fresh fatalities pushed the state's coronavirus death toll to 691, a health official said.
As many as 2,441 new cases were reported in quarantine centres, while 1,768 infections were detected during contact tracing, he said.

Telangana reports 2,123 new cases, nine deaths
Telangana added 2,123 new COVID-19 cases, pushing the total infection count to 1,69,169, while death toll rose to 1,025 with nine more fatalities.
Out of the 2,123 fresh cases, 305 were reported from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), followed by Rangareddy (185), Medchal Malkajgiri (149), Nalgonda (135), Karimnagar (112) and other districts, a state government bulletin said on Saturday, providing data as of 8 pm on September 18.
The cumulative recovered cases stood at 1,37,508, while 30,636 were under treatment.
The bulletin said 54,459 samples were tested on September 18. Cumulatively, the number of samples tested stood at 24,34,409.
The samples tested per million population was 65,570, it said.
The case fatality rate in the state was 0.60 per cent, while it was 1.61 per cent at the national level, it said. The recovery rate in the state rose to 81.28 per cent, while it was 79.26 per cent in the country.

Puducherry adds 543 new cases, 11 deaths take toll to 448
Puducherry reported 543 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday taking the overall tally in the union territory to 22,456.
Eleven more people succumbed to the infection as the death toll rose to 448, Director of Health and Family Welfare S Mohan Kumar said.
The fatality rate was two per cent while the recovery rate was 76.63 per cent, he added.

Jharkhand's COVID-19 tally rose to 68,578 on Saturday as 1,478 more people tested positive for the infection, while 12 fresh fatalities pushed the state's coronavirus death toll to 602, a health official said.
The fresh infections have taken the number of active cases in the state to 13,924, while 54,052 people have been cured of the disease so far, he said.\

Kerala's new Covid cases cross 4,000 for second successive day
Kerala's new Covid cases crossed 4,000 for the second consecutive day on Friday, officials said.
On Friday, the state recorded 4,167, while the number of infections on Thursday was 4,351.
In a statement issued here on Friday by the State Health Minister K.K.Shailaja, "2744 people were cured of the disease."
"At present, there are 35,724 active COVID cases, while 90,089 people have so far been cured. In the past 24 hours 47,723 samples were tested," said Shailaja.
Thiruvananthapuram district continues to record the maximum number of cases with 926 new cases.
In the state, there are 2,16,262 people under observation at various places which includes 24,634 people in hospitals.

Guj sees new high daily tally, recoveries cross 1 lakh
Gujarat on Friday saw its highest daily spike of coronavirus cases, with 1,410 new infections taking its tally to 1,20,498 while the death toll rose to 3,289 as 16 more patients succumbed.
In September so far, the state has added 24,063 cases, with an average of 1,337 cases daily.
Meanwhile, 1,293 patients were discharged on Friday, taking the total cured to 1,01,101, while there are presently 16,108 active cases, out of which 98 critical patients are on ventilator.
Of the new cases, hotspot Surat had 286, Ahmedabad 173, Rajkot 144, Vadodara 134 and Jamnagar 129.

TN reports 5,488 new cases
As many as 5,488 persons have tested positive for coronavirus in Tamil Nadu, taking the tally to 530,908, health officials said on Friday.
The state recorded 67 more deaths, pushing the toll to 8,685.
The number of infected children in the state between the age group 0-12 went up to 22,448.
Chennai continued to head the Covid-19 infection table with 989 persons testing positive for the virus taking the total tally in the state capital to 153,616.

Police Sub-Inspector in Hyderabad succumbs to COVID
A Sub-Inspector of Police in Hyderabad died of Covid-19 on Friday.
Abbas Ali, 56, succumbed to the virus while undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
Attached to Madhapur police station under Cyberabad Police Commissionerate, he was infected with the virus while on duty and was on sick leave. He was taken to the hospital after he complained of headache, cold and other symptoms and tested positive for COVID.

Karnataka's tally crosses 5 lakh
With 8,626 fresh cases across the state on Friday, Karnataka's Covid-19 tally crossed the 5 lakh mark, while 10,949 people were discharged after treatment in the last 24 hours.
"The number of positive cases across the state is 5,02,982, including 1,01,129 active cases, while 3,94,026 cases were discharged since March 8," said the health bulletin.
With 179 patients succumbing to the infection during the day, the state's toll has gone up to 7,808.
Bengaluru, which is the epicentre of the disease in the state, registered 3,623 cases during the day, taking its tally to 1,87,705, including 41,914 active cases, while 1,43,198 patients were discharged till date, with 2,725 in the last 24 hours.
