7 more COVID-19 deaths reported in Raj

Rajasthan recorded seven COVID-19 fatalities on Thursday, taking the death toll due to the disease in the state to 1,185, according to a health department bulletin.

It also reported 716 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours.

The total number of people infected by the virus is 96,452. Of them, 15,807 are under treatment.

According to the bulletin, 78,203 people have been discharged after treatment.

In Jaipur, the death toll from the virus is 294, followed by 114 in Jodhpur, 87 in Bikaner, 85 in Kota, 81 in Ajmer and 73 in Bharatpur, 47 in Pali, 44 in Nagaur, 32 in Udaipur, 30 in Alwar, 23 in Barmer and 22 in Dholpur. Other districts reported the rest fatalities.

Of the fresh cases, Jaipur reported 129, Jodhpur 111, Kota 47, Jhalawar 36, Alwar 34, Nagaur 32.

Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar tests positive

Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar on Thursday said she has tested COVID-19 positive. 

She shared the information on her Twitter handle. 

Pednekar said her rapid antigen test came positive, but she is asymptomatic.

"As I don't have any symptoms I have home quarantined myself as per the doctors' advice," she said in a tweet.

She has also appealed to the people, who had come in her contact, to take necessary precautions.

Rajasthan recorded seven COVID-19 fatalities on Thursday, taking the death toll due to the disease in the state to 1,185, according to a health department bulletin.

It also reported 716 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours.

The total number of people infected by the virus is 96,452. Of them, 15,807 are under treatment.

According to the bulletin, 78,203 people have been discharged after treatment.

In Jaipur, the death toll from the virus is 294, followed by 114 in Jodhpur, 87 in Bikaner, 85 in Kota, 81 in Ajmer and 73 in Bharatpur, 47 in Pali, 44 in Nagaur, 32 in Udaipur, 30 in Alwar, 23 in Barmer and 22 in Dholpur. Other districts reported the rest fatalities.

Of the fresh cases, Jaipur reported 129, Jodhpur 111, Kota 47, Jhalawar 36, Alwar 34, Nagaur 32.

Odisha records highest single-day spike of 3,991 Covid-19 cases

Odisha recorded its highest single-day spike of 3,991 new Covid-19 cases, taking the state's infection tally to 1,39,121, the state health department said on Thursday.

As many as 11 more persons died due to Covid-19 infection in the last 24 hours, pushing the state's total fatalities to 591.

Two deaths each were reported from Khurdha, Cuttack and Puri districts while one each was reported from Bhadrak, Ganjam, Koraput, Nayagarh and Rayagada.

Of the new positive cases, 2,315 cases were reported in quarantine while 1,676 were local contacts.

Khurda district reported highest 687 positive cases followed by Cuttack 392 and Puri 332.

With this, the number of active Covid-19 cases in Odisha mounted to 33,182 while 1,05,295 persons have recovered from the disease so far.

Agra reports 96 fresh cases, one death from Covid-19

With 96 fresh cases of Covid-19 and one more death in a day, the Taj city is in the grip of a fear-wave.

As markets open and restrictions are lifted, the chances of more people getting infected go up, explain the doctors but the district administration finds the pressure difficult to negotiate on a daily basis.

The medical infrastructure at the S.N. Medical College is under strain and is facing shortages of medicines, Oxygen, and even trained hands. Senior doctors in the private health sector have virtually disappeared, surgeries have stopped and a significantly large number of trained hands to battle the pandemic, are reluctant to continue to give their services inviting risk. A senior police official, two cops, and a post-master tested positive on Wednesday.

In the past 24 hours, Agra reported 96 fresh cases and one death of a senior citizen. The number of active cases now is 730 while the number of samples tested so far is 1,39,432.

Andhra reports 10K new COVID cases, tally 5.27 lakh

Andhra Pradesh has registered 10,418 new Covid-19 cases, increasing the state's tally to 5.27 lakh, even as 9,842 persons recovered from the disease on Wednesday.

"Across the state in the past 24 hours, 10,418 people have tested positive for coronavirus while 9,842 persons recovered from the disease," said a health official.

Both the Godavari districts and Prakasham district reported more than 1,000 cases each -- East Godavari (1,399), Prakasham (1,271) and West Godavari (1,134).

Among other places, Nellore accounted for 949 infections, followed by Chittoor (887), Ananthapur (801), Kadapa (785) and Guntur (707).

East Godavari district is battling the highest number of 71,085 cases, out of which 13,151 are active, while Prakasham accounts for the highest number of active cases at 14,717.

1,329 new cases take Gujarat's COVID tally to 1,08,295

Gujarat on Wednesday reported 1,329 new Covid-19 cases, taking the state's coronavirus tally to 1,08,295, while 16 deaths in the last 24 hours mounted the state's death toll 3,152.

Gujarat has reported 11,860 cases so far in September, an average of 1,317 cases daily. A total of 75,936 tests were conducted in the past 24 hours, of which 1,329 returned positive.

Hotspot Surat reported 266 cases, followed by Ahmedabad (171), Rajkot (154), Vadodara (126), Jamnagar (113), Bhavnagar (46), Junagadh (37), Gandhinagar (35), Morbi (30), Panchmahals and Amreli (29 each), Patan (25), Bharuch (24), Dahod and Mahesana (22 each), Devbhumi Dwarka (18), Mahisagar (16), Gir-Somnath and Tapi (14 each), Kutch, Valsad and Surendranagar (13 each), Anand and Banaskantha (12 each), Chhota Udepur, Kheda, Navsari and Sabarkantha (11 each), Botad (9), Narmada (8), and Aravalli and Porbandar (7 each).

K'taka reports 9,540 new cases, 6,860 recoveries
Karnataka reported as many as 9,540 new COVID-19 cases and 128 deaths and with this the tally of positive cases has reached 4,21,730 while the death toll was at 6,808 on Wednesday.

According to the bulletin released by the health department, the day also saw as many as 6,860 patients getting discharged after recovery.

The bulletin further added that of the 9,540 positive cases, Bengaluru urban alone contributed 3,419 positive cases.

It added that out of the 99,470 active cases, 98,694 are in isolation wards while 776 are in ICU. Of the 128 deaths, 41 were reported in Bengaluru Urban, followed by Mysuru which saw 13 deaths and eight deaths in Ballari, while Dakshin Kannada, Koppala and Shivamogga districts reported six deaths each.

Bengaluru again tops the list even in total discharges registering 1,12,536 discharges, followed by Ballari with 20,201 while 15,909 discharges were registered in Mysuru.

A total of 35,31,441 samples were tested till date, whereas 70,322 cases were tested on Wednesday alone.

Two policemen test positive for COVID-19 in Shamli

Two policemen deployed in the security of UP Minister Suresh Rana in Shamli district have tested positive for COVID-19, an official said Thursday.

The constables, deployed in Thanabhawan town, were admitted to a COVID hospital Wednesday evening, said superintendent of the local government health centre Kanti Prasad.

Meanwhile, the district court in Kairana remained closed after a staffer tested positive for the virus.

2 COVID-19 positive undertrials flee from hospital in UP

Two undertrials undergoing treatment at a COVID hospital here on Thursday managed to flee breaking the bathroom window, police said. 

Rape accused, Rajju and Brijlal, escaped at about 4 am from the hospital, Superintendent of Police Ankit Mittal said.

Both of them were admitted in the hospital on September 7 after they were found COVID-19 positive, he said. 

The officer said attempts are on to arrest them, adding that separate police teams have been constituted for the purpose.

Ladakh reports 40 more COVID-19 cases

Ladakh has reported 40 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday.

According to the Department of Information and Public Relations, the Union Territory has reported 40 new COVID-19 cases.

"The total number of cases stands at 3,142 including 778 active cases and 2,329 recoveries," said the Department.

"As many as 41 patients have been cured and discharged," it added.

Mizoram reports 141 more COVID-19 cases

With 141 new COVID-19 cases reported in Mizoram, the total number of coronavirus cases in the State reached 1,333 on Thursday, said the State Health Department.

"There are 583 active COVID-19 cases in the State, while 750 patients have been discharged after getting cured of the viral infection. Mizoram has not reported any deaths due to the novel Coronavirus," said the State Health Department.

India's COVID-19 case count has crossed the 43-lakh mark with a spike of 89,706 new cases on Wednesday.

1,601 COVID-19 cases reported in Jharkhand on Wednesday

As many as 1,601 new COVID-19 cases and 9 deaths were reported in Jharkhand on Wednesday, taking the total number of cases to 56,897 in the state.

As many as 1,297 recoveries were also reported in the state.

The total number of cases includes 40,659 recoveries, 512 deaths and 15,726 active cases, the state health department said.

India's COVID-19 case count has crossed the 43-lakh mark with a spike of 89,706 new cases.

Maharashtra reports 23,816 new COVID-19 cases, 325 deaths

Maharashtra reported 23,816 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday taking the total count of COVID-19 cases in the state to 9,67,349.

According to a bulletin of Maharashtra Health Department, the death toll due to COVID-19 stands at 27,787 after 325 deaths were reported on Wednesday. The case fatality rate in the state stands at 2.87 per cent.

As many as 13,906 patients were discharged from hospital after recovering from COVD-19. The number of recovered persons stand at 6,86,462. The recovery rate in the state stands at 70.96 per cent.

There are 2,52,734 active COVID-19 cases in the state. At present 16,11,280 people are in-home quarantine and 37,644 people are in institutional quarantine, the bulletin said.

As many as 48,83,006 COVID-19 samples have been tested in the state and the positivity rate stands at 19.81 per cent.

As per the Municipal Corporation Greater Mumbai, as many as 2,227 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Mumbai taking the total count of cases in the city to 1,60,744.

2,243 COVID-19 cases reported in Assam

A total of 2,243 COVID-19 cases were reported in Assam on Wednesday, taking the total number of cases to 1,33,066 in the state, Health Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

The total number of cases includes 1,01,239 recoveries, 396 deaths and 31,428 active cases in the state.

Cases in Telangana breach 1.5 lakh mark with 2,534 new infections 

COVID-19 cases in Telangana surged past the 1.5 lakh mark with the addition of 2,534 new infections while 11 more deaths pushed the toll to 927, the state government said.

The total number of infections in the state now stands at 1, 50,176 with 32,106 active cases, a government bulletin said on Thursday, providing data as of 8 pm on September 9.

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the most number of cases with 327, followed by Rangareddy (195), Nalgonda (149) and Medchal Malkajgiri (132)
districts, the bulletin said.

The cumulative recovered cases stood at 1, 17,143. As many as 63,107 samples were tested on September 9.

Cumulatively, 19,53,571 samples have been tested. The samples tested per million population was 52,619, the bulletin said.

The case fatality rate in the state was 0.61 per cent, while it was 1.68 per cent at the national level.

The recovery rate in Telangana was 78 per cent, while it was 77.83 per cent in the country.

The number of individuals in-home/institutional isolation stood at 25,066.

New Delhi: India on Thursday witnessed a record spike of 95,735 new Covid-19 cases, the highest single-day increase till date, taking the total tally to 44,65,863, the Union Health Ministry data revealed.

There were 1,172 deaths reported in the past 24 hours, which is also the highest fatality in a single day so far. India on Tuesday recorded 1,133 deaths and on July 29 there were 1,129. India's deaths per day are now crossing US' which is the worst-hit by the pandemic.

India is currently the second-worst hit country after the US since the first case was reported on January 30.

Out of the total 44,65,863 cases, 9,19,018 are active, 34,71,783 have recovered so far, while 75,062 have died.

The recovery rate stands at 77.77 per cent, the fatality rate at 1.69 per cent, the Ministry data showed.

Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Uttar Pradesh are the worst-hit states. They account for over 62 per cent of the active cases, according to the Ministry.

According to the data from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), India conducted a record 11,29,756 tests in a single day on Wednesday, taking the total number of samples tested so far to 5,29,34,433.

There were 1,172 deaths reported in the past 24 hours, which is also the highest fatality in a single day so far. India on Tuesday recorded 1,133 deaths and on July 29 there were 1,129. India's deaths per day are now crossing US' which is the worst-hit by the pandemic.

India is currently the second-worst hit country after the US since the first case was reported on January 30.

Out of the total 44,65,863 cases, 9,19,018 are active, 34,71,783 have recovered so far, while 75,062 have died.

The recovery rate stands at 77.77 per cent, the fatality rate at 1.69 per cent, the Ministry data showed.

Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Uttar Pradesh are the worst-hit states. They account for over 62 per cent of the active cases, according to the Ministry.

According to the data from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), India conducted a record 11,29,756 tests in a single day on Wednesday, taking the total number of samples tested so far to 5,29,34,433.
