West Bengal reported 10 more COVID-19 deaths on Thursday, taking their number to 283 as 368 new cases of the infection pushed the tally to 6,876, a state health bulletin said here.
Of the fresh fatalities, five were in Kolkata, three in neighbouring Howrah and two were from the North 24 Parganas district, it said.

Dharavi's COVID-19 cases go up to 1,872
As 23 more people tested coronavirus positive, the tally of such cases in Dharavi, Mumbai's biggest slum sprawl, rose to 1,872 on Thursday, a senior official of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said.
However, as no COVID-19 fatality was reported in Dharavi in the last 24 hours, the death toll there remained unchanged at 71, the official said.

DDMA issues directives for management of COVID-19 positive bodies
Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has issued directions for the management of bodies of coronavirus positive /suspected persons' at mortuaries of hospitals in the national capital.
As per the orders, in the event of the death of a coronavirus positive person, the body has to be sent to mortuary within two hours.
"The hospital must fix date and time in such a way that an effective notice of at least 24 hours is available to the family/relatives. If family/relatives are contacting the mortuary themselves, within 12 hours of death, the hospital shall schedule cremation/burial in consultation with the family/relatives and concerned Municipal Body within next 24 hours," the advisory read.
"The responsibility of timely disposal of dead bodies of COVID-19 positive/suspect who died at the Hospital or are brought dead at the Hospital shall be of Medical Director/Director of the Hospital. Respective Municipal Body shall make all the necessary arrangements to cremate/bury of such dead bodies as per the prescribed protocol," the Delhi Disaster Management Authority.
"In case of unidentified abandoned dead bodies of COVID-19 positive/suspect person, Delhi Police shall complete all legal formalities within 72 hours of death and shall dispose of the dead body in next 24 hours as per the protocol," it added.

India on Thursday witnessed a record single-day spike of 9,304 coronavirus cases taking the country's tally to 2,16,919, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The state has been reporting daily fatalities with a continuing surge in the number of positive cases for more than two weeks.

All asymptomatic passengers entering Delhi to home quarantine for 7 days
Partially modifying its earlier order, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has made home quarantine of seven days, instead of the earlier period of two weeks, mandatory for "all asymptomatic passengers who enter/deboard in the NCT of Delhi."
According to an order issued by the DDMA on Wednesday, the concerned airport, railway, transport authorities "shall provide passenger manifest to the Office of Private Secretary (Revenue)-cum-Divisional Commissioner, GNCTD on a daily basis.
The Office of Private Secretary (Revenue)-cum-Divisional Commissioner, GNCTD will forward the passenger manifest to the respective District Magistrates (DMs) under whose jurisdiction the passenger stays.

New Delhi: A defence secretary who had been at the forefront in battling the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in India, has reportedly tested coronavirus positive, sources said on Wednesday.
The portion of South Block on the Raisina Hill complex in Delhi has been sealed and is in process of sanitisation.
After the reports of Kumar reportedly tested positive came in the corridors of South Block, many top Ministry of Defence officers did not attend their office. It was also reported that Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also did not attend the office.
The ministry is carrying out an extensive contact tracing, and disinfection of offices in South Block is underway.
It has been found that around 30 people came in close contact with the defence secretary over the last couple of days and they have been told to go into home quarantine.
Till June 1 , the officer was consistently active on social media and was telling masses about the government initiatives to contain the spread of the deadly virus.

Goa reports 40 new coronavirus cases
Forty persons tested positive for coronavirus in Goa on Thursday, most of them from a containment zone in the port town of Vasco, taking the number of cases in the state to 166, a senior official said.

COVID-19 death toll in Bengal rises to 283; total cases at 6,876
West Bengal reported 10 more COVID-19 deaths on Thursday, taking their number to 283 as 368 new cases of the infection pushed the tally to 6,876, a state health bulletin said here.
Of the fresh fatalities, five were in Kolkata, three in neighbouring Howrah and two were from the North 24 Parganas district, it said.
Besides the 283 people who died of COVID-19 in the state, there were 72 patients who lost their lives due to co-morbid conditions in which the coronavirus infection was "incidental", it maintained.

A DMK legislator has tested positive for coronavirus and he is on ventilatory support battling severe acute respiratory distress, a Chennai bases hospital said
on Thursday. The 61-year-old, a senior party leader in the state capital, was admitted on June 2, Dr Rela Institute and Medical Centre said in a statement.

Dharavi's COVID-19 cases go up to 1,872
As 23 more people tested coronavirus positive, the tally of such cases in Dharavi, Mumbai's biggest slum sprawl, rose to 1,872 on Thursday, a senior official of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said.
However, as no COVID-19 fatality was reported in Dharavi in the last 24 hours, the death toll there remained unchanged at 71, the official said.
Dharavi is located in G-North administrative ward of the BMC, which has so far registered the highest number of 2,820 COVID-19 cases among all the 24 wards. Of them, as many as 1,872 cases are from Dharavi alone, followed by 574 and 347 cases from Mahim and Dadar, respectively, from the same ward.

DDMA issues directives for management of COVID-19 positive bodies
Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has issued directions for the management of bodies of coronavirus positive /suspected persons' at mortuaries of hospitals in the national capital.
As per the orders, in the event of the death of a coronavirus positive person, the body has to be sent to mortuary within two hours.
"The hospital must fix date and time in such a way that an effective notice of at least 24 hours is available to the family/relatives. If family/relatives are contacting the mortuary themselves, within 12 hours of death, the hospital shall schedule cremation/burial in consultation with the family/relatives and concerned Municipal Body within next 24 hours," the advisory read.
"The responsibility of timely disposal of dead bodies of COVID-19 positive/suspect who died at the Hospital or are brought dead at the Hospital shall be of Medical Director/Director of the Hospital. Respective Municipal Body shall make all the necessary arrangements to cremate/bury of such dead bodies as per the prescribed protocol," the Delhi Disaster Management Authority.
"In case of unidentified abandoned dead bodies of COVID-19 positive/suspect person, Delhi Police shall complete all legal formalities within 72 hours of death and shall dispose of the dead body in next 24 hours as per the protocol," it added.

COVID-19: India records highest single-day spike of 9,304 cases, 260 deaths
India on Thursday witnessed a record single-day spike of 9,304 coronavirus cases taking the country's tally to 2,16,919, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The ministry informed that 260 more deaths due to coronavirus were reported in the last 24 hours.
The total number of cases in the country now stands at 2,16,919 including 1,06,737 active cases, 1,04,107 cured/discharged/migrated and 6,075 deaths.
Maharashtra has so far reported 74,860 cases, more than any other state in the country.

COVID-19 cases cross 3,000-mark in Telangana
Seven more persons died of Covid-19 in Telangana while the total number of positive cases crossed 3,000-mark on Wednesday.
In the highest single-day jump, seven persons succumbed to the deadly virus, taking the death toll to 99 in the state.
The state has been reporting daily fatalities with a continuing surge in the number of positive cases for more than two weeks.
According to the director of public health and family welfare, 129 Covid-19 positive cases were reported during the last 24 hours, ending 5 p.m. on Wednesday. They include two migrants who had returned to the state.
With this the number of positive cases jumped to 3020. As many as 448 of them are migrants, deportees and foreign returnees.

Karnataka Covid tally breaches 4K on 267 new cases
Karnataka Covid tally breached the 4,000-mark with 267 new cases, mostly domestic returnees, raising the state's tally to 4,063, an official said on Wednesday.

Kalaburagi was struck with 105 cases, followed by Udupi (62), Raichur (35), Bengaluru Urban (20), Mandya (13), Yadgir (9), Vijayapura (6), Davangere (3), Dakshina Kannada, Mysuru, Shivamogga, Kolar and Bagalkote (2 each) and Hassan, Ballari, Dharwad and Bengaluru Rural (1 each).
Of the new cases, 180 are men and 87 women, including 20 children below the age of 10.
On Wednesday, 111 patients got discharged.

All asymptomatic passengers entering Delhi to home quarantine for 7 days
Partially modifying its earlier order, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has made home quarantine of seven days, instead of the earlier period of two weeks, mandatory for "all asymptomatic passengers who enter/deboard in the NCT of Delhi."
According to an order issued by the DDMA on Wednesday, the concerned airport, railway, transport authorities "shall provide passenger manifest to the Office of Private Secretary (Revenue)-cum-Divisional Commissioner, GNCTD on a daily basis.
The Office of Private Secretary (Revenue)-cum-Divisional Commissioner, GNCTD will forward the passenger manifest to the respective District Magistrates (DMs) under whose jurisdiction the passenger stays.
The DMs will then ensure that those entering the national capital remain in home quarantine for seven days.

COVID-19 LIVE: Delhi records 1,359 new cases and 22 deaths in 24 hours
New Delhi: A defence secretary who had been at the forefront in battling the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in India, has reportedly tested coronavirus positive, sources said on Wednesday.
The portion of South Block on the Raisina Hill complex in Delhi has been sealed and is in process of sanitisation.
After the reports of Kumar reportedly tested positive came in the corridors of South Block, many top Ministry of Defence officers did not attend their office. It was also reported that Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also did not attend the office.
The ministry is carrying out an extensive contact tracing, and disinfection of offices in South Block is underway.
It has been found that around 30 people came in close contact with the defence secretary over the last couple of days and they have been told to go into home quarantine.
Till June 1 , the officer was consistently active on social media and was telling masses about the government initiatives to contain the spread of the deadly virus.
