8 new cases, 1 more death in Andamans

The COVID-19 tally of Andaman and Nicobar Islands rose to 4,340 on Monday as eight more people tested positive for the infection, a health official said.

One more person succumbed to the infection, pushing the Union territory's coronavirus death toll to 60, he said.

Three new patients have travel history, while five fresh infections were detected during contract tracing, the official said.

Twelve more people have been cured of the disease, he said.

The archipelago now has 168 active coronavirus cases, while 4,112 people have recovered from the disease so far, the official said.

The administration has tested 89,559 samples for COVID-19 so far, he added

540 test positive in J and K; 629 recover

A total of 540 people on Sunday tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir while 629 others were discharged after recovery from different hospitals of the Union Territory, officials said.

A statement issued by the Information and public relations department said out of 540 people who tested positive on Sunday, 171 are from Jammu division and 369 from Kashmir division.

So far, 95,325 people have been infected by Covid-19 out of which 87,517 have recovered completely.

Besides, 1,482 patients have died so far including 4 who succumbed to the dreaded virus on Sunday.

The number of active cases is 6,326 out of which 1,819 are from Jammu division and 4,507 from Kashmir division.

529 new cases in Gurugram; 342 recover

The rapid increase of coronavirus cases in Gurugram continued with 529 fresh infections being reported on Sunday, officials said.

This is the highest number of positive cases to have emerged in the district in a single day.

The Covid-19 tally in Gurugram has now risen to 30,527, according to the official daily health bulletin.

Two more patients infected with coronavirus died on Sunday in the city. With this, a total of 214 persons have lost their lives in Gurugram.

There a total of 3,707 active cases.

A total of 26,606 have been cured and discharged, including 342 on Sunday.

Karnataka's Covid fatality rate drops to 0.65%

In a dramatic turnaround, the case fatality rate due to the Covid pandemic dropped to 0.65 per cent in Karnataka in a day for the first time, said the state health bulletin on Sunday.

"Case fatality rate for the day (Saturday) declined to 0.65 per cent, while positivity rate decreased to 3.42 per cent on a single day," said the bulletin in a statement here.

Of 1,06,773 tests conducted in a day, 20,395 were through rapid antigen detection and 86,378 through RT-PCR.

Maintaining its upward trend, the recovery rate shot up to 7,65,261 till date, with 8,053 discharged across the southern state on Saturday, while 3,652 new cases were reported, taking the Covid tally to 8,27,064 so far, including 50,592 active cases.

With 24 succumbing to the infection in the last 24 hours, the state's death toll rose to 11,192 since the pandemic broke on March 8.

In Bengaluru, 2,167 fresh cases were reported, taking its tally to 3,38,636, including 30,598 active cases, while 3,04,163 recovered so far, with 6,018 discharged in the last 24 hours. With 10 deaths, the city's toll rose to 3,874.

Of the 935 patients in the intensive care units (ICUs), 453 were in Bengaluru, 50 in Ballari, 44 in Hassan and 40 in Tumakuru.

New Delhi: With 45,230 new infections in the last 24 hours, India's total COVID-19 tally reached 82,29,313 on Monday, according to the data by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

With 496 new deaths, the cumulative toll in the country reached 1,22,607. 

At present, there are active cases 5,61,908 as the total recoveries reached 75,44,798 with 53,285 new discharges in the last 24 hours.

The ministry informed India has 5,930 cases and 88 deaths per million population. There are 1,25,672  active cases in  Maharashtra,  the highest in the country, followed by 89,783 in Kerala.

On Sunday, the Union Health Ministry said that the national recovery rate to further improve to 91.54 per cent.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 11,07,43,103 samples tested for COVID-19 till November 1 out of which  8,55,800 samples were tested yesterday.
