Telangana: 49 more corona positive cases reported in Telangana State. Health Minister Eetela Rajendar said that the number of corona positive cases reached 453 in the state. 

45 of Corona victims recovered and were discharged. 397 patients are under treatment in various hospitals in the state and 11 people are dead.

Meanwhile the State Government is converting the sports complex in to a hospital with 1,500-beds . ICU and ventilators are also being arranged. 

22 private medical colleges in the state are being prepared for treatment of COVID-19 patients.

Around 12,000 beds have been allotted in the private medical colleges. He also stated that the government is procuring more PPE kits and N-95 masks.

Kerala: Nine new COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in the state today.

4 from Kannur, 2 from Alappuzha, 1 each from Thrissur, Pathanamthitta and Kasaragod. 

Total number of COVID-19 cases stand at 345 of which 259 are active cases.

On Wednesday, Tamil Nadu reported 48 more positive cases of COVID 19 infection.

Speaking to reporters, health secretary Beela Rajesh said the total number of positive cases reported in the state so far is 738.  

Of the 48 cases reported today, 42 of them have contracted it from a single source.  

Of this single source group, one COVID positve patient is a Malaysian national.  

She reiterated that the press need not name the City from where the single source of congregation originated.  

A total of 8 deaths of the coronavirus positive people have been reported from the state so far.  

So far 4 doctors from the state have reported positive for the infection.

Karnataka records 5th COVID-19 death, tally reaches 18

Karnataka recorded fifth COVID-19 death, even as its positive cases rose by six to 181, an official said on Wednesday.

"Till date, 181 Covid-19 positive cases have been confirmed. This includes five deaths and 28 discharges," a health official said. 

Further details on the fifth death were awaited from the officials.

On Wednesday, two people with Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) were among the six new Covid-19 positive cases

Coronavirus cases get past 5000 in India, 149 deaths

With India in the third week of its 21-day lockdown, the total number of confirmed cases of novel coronavirus surged to 5,194, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Wednesday.

Of these, 4643 are active cases of COVID-19, 401 individuals have recovered and discharged from the hospital, one person migrated to another country and 149 people succumbed to the disease.

Amongst the total affected people, 70 are foreign nationals.

Maharashtra remained the worst hit state with a total number of positive cases rising to 1018, followed by Tamil Nadu which has 690 cases, according to the Health Ministry data.

Two COVID-19 patients die in Pune; district toll rises to 10

Pune: Two more people died of coronavirus infection in Pune, taking the toll in the Maharashtra district to 10, officials said on Wednesday.

A 44-year-old man, who was on ventilator support and suffering from uncontrolled diabetes, died at the civic-run Naidu Hospital early Wednesday morning, Pune Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Gaikwad said.

He was admitted to the hospital on April 4. On Tuesday night, he became breathless and was put on ventilator support.

He died on Wednesday after renal failure, Gaikwad said.

Another patient succumbed to the viral disease at the state-run Sassoon Hospital, Pune Divisional Commissioner Dr Deepak Mhaisekar said.

Till Tuesday, eight deaths were reported from Pune.

Now, the toll has gone up to 10.

India tally 4,789; downward trend in new cases

New Delhi: Tuesday brought some relief for India in terms of new cases of coronavirus reported in the last 24 hours, as after three days, the number of new cases has shown a downward trend.

As per the data updated by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday evening, the total tally of confirmed coronavirus cases in India so far stood at 4,789, including 4,312 active cases and 124 deaths, while 352 people have recovered and been discharged from hospital, and one individual migrated. 

People affected by COVID-19 in India include 70 foreign nationals.

According to Joint Health Secretary Lav Agarwal, a total of 354 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours on Tuesday. On Monday the highest number of new cases in 24 hours was reported at 693. It was 472 on Sunday.

Agarwal, at a press conference, said that strategies adopted by the government to contain coronavirus are yielding good results in many parts of the country, including Agra and Gautam Buddh Nagar (Uttar Pradesh), Pathanamthitta (Kerala), Bhilwara (Rajasthan) and East Delhi.

According to Health Ministry data, total cases reported from Maharashtra were 868, Tamil Nadu (621), Delhi (576), Telangana (364), Kerala (327), Uttar Pradesh (305), Rajasthan (288), Andhra Pradesh (266), Madhya Pradesh (229), Karnataka (175), Gujarat (165), Jammu & Kashmir (116), Punjab (91), West Bengal (91), Haryana (90), Odisha (42), Bihar (32), Uttarakhand (31), Assam (26), Chandigarh (18), Chhattisgarh (18), Ladakh (14), Himachal Pradesh(90), Andaman and Nicobar Islands (10), Goa (7), Puducherry (5), Jharkhand (4), Manipur (2), Tripura (1), Mizoram (1), and Arunachal Pradesh (1).
