The recovery rate of COVID patients rose to 93.87 per cent in Bihar on Saturday, while 1140 fresh cases took the tally of positive cases to 1,94,965 in the

state, health department bulletin said. Bihar reported 10 fresh COVID casualties in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 944, the bulletin said.

A total of 1226 people were cured of the contagion disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 1,83,007.

Jharkhand's COVID-19 tally rose to 91,254 on Saturday as 768 more people tested positive for the infection, a health official said.

Six more patients succumbed to the infection, taking the state's coronavirus death toll to 781, he said. Jharkhand now has 8,819 active coronavirus cases, while 81,654 people have been cured of the disease so far, the official said.

Maharastra: 11,416 new coronavirus cases, 308 deaths; 26,440 recover

Maharashtra's coronavirus case tally on Saturday increased to 15,17,434 with 11,416 new cases being reported, said a health official.

The state also reported 308 deaths during the day, which took the death toll to 40,040, he said. 26,440 patients were discharged after treatment, taking the tally of recovered people to 12,55,779.

2,123 new COVID-19 cases in Rajasthan; 15 more die

Rajasthan recorded 2,123 new COVID-19 cases taking the infection tally to 1,56,908 on Saturday, while 15 more coronavirus fatalities pushed the state's death toll to 1,636, the Health department said.

The total number of active cases in the state now stands at 21,354, and so far 1,32,903 COVID-19 patients have been discharged after recovery, according to a bulletin by the Health Department.

3,099 fresh COVID-19 cases take UP's tally to 4,33,712, death toll 6,353

The COVID-19 death toll in Uttar Pradesh rose to 6,353 on Saturday with 60 more fatalities, while 3,099 fresh cases took the infection tally in the state to 4,33,712, officials said.  

The number of active COVID-19 cases has seen a continuous fall and it has now come down to 40,210, Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Amit Mohan Prasad said.

Of these, 18,654 are presently in home isolation and 3,116 are in private hospitals, he said.

Confirmed cases of coronavirus crossed the 7.50 lakh mark in Andhra Pradesh as 5,653 infections were added afresh on Saturday. U'khand reports 462 fresh COVID-19 cases, tally rises to 54,525

Uttarakhand's COVID-19 tally rose to 54,525 on Saturday with 462 fresh cases, while the death toll climbed to 734 as 18 more people succumbed to the disease, a state health department bulletin said. Udham Singh Nagar reported 63 fresh cases, Haridwar 62, Nainital 56, Chamoli 27, Uttarkashi 17, Tehri 16, Nageshwar 14, Pauri 10, Pithoragarh and Champawat nine each, and Rudraprayag and Almora six each, among other districts, it said.

Bengal logs record 3,591 COVID cases, 62 deaths

The COVID-19 tally in West Bengal mounted to 2,91,194 on Saturday after the state reported the highest single-day spike of 3,591 fresh cases,

the health department said in a bulletin. The death toll rose to 5,563 after 62 more people succumbed to the disease. The bulletin also said that 3,032 patients were cured of the infection in the last 24 hours and the discharge rate is now 87.86 per cent.

Covid patients at Hindu Rao Hospital to be shifted to other hospitals after strike call by doctors

COVID-19 patients at the MCD-run Hindu Rao hospital will be shifted to Delhi government hospitals as doctors and other staff of Hindu Rao have given a notice for a strike, Delhi health minister Satyendra Jain said on Saturday. 

This comes amid protests by resident doctors of the Hindu Rao hospital over non-payment of salaries for the last few months. "The staff of the hospital should be paid their salaries. If the MCD is not able to run Hindu Rao and Kasturba hospitals, then they should hand them over to the State government," Jain told reporters here. 

Resident doctors of the hospital continued their protest on Saturday with posters and slogans demanding payment of salaries.

MP: COVID-19 patient jumps to death from hospital building

A 46-year-old COVID-19 patient allegedly jumped to death from the second floor of a government-run hospital in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur district,
an official said on Saturday.

This is a second such incident reported from Netaji Subhash Chandra Medical College and Hospital since last month.

The patient jumped off the second floor of the hospital's super-speciality wing on Friday and succumbed to his injuries within hours at night, the hospital's dean Dr P K Kasar said.

One more dies of coronavirus in Pondy, 337 new additions

Puducherry registered one more death due to coronavirus on Saturday, raising the toll to 559 in the union territory.

Director of Health and Family Welfare S Mohan Kumar said in a release that a 62-year-old woman hailing from neighbouring Vanrapet village succumbed to the infection.

Total patients discharged during the last 24 hours from hospitals stood at 411.

He said 337 new cases were reported at the end of the examination of 4,829 samples in the union territory, pushing the total caseload to 31,233.

Odisha MLA booked for attending funeral despite being COVID- positive

A case was filed against BJD MLA Umakanta Samantray after he attended the funeral of party leader Pradeep Maharathy despite testing positive for COVID- 19, police said on Saturday.

The case was registered at the Sea Beach Police Station in Puri on Friday night under IPC sections 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life) and section 3 of the Epidemic Diseases Act.

Odisha's COVID-19 toll crosses 1,000-mark

Odisha's COVID-19 toll crossed the 1,000-mark on Saturday with 15 more deaths, while 2,854 new cases were reported, a Health Department official said.

The toll rose to 1,006 with the latest fatalities, which included five persons from the Khurda district and two from Cuttack.

One patient each died in Balasore, Bolangir, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Mayurbhanj and Sundargarh, the official said.

Ladakh records 85 new COVID-19 cases; 346 patients cured

The Union Territory of Ladakh reported 85 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking the virus caseload to 4,987, an official bulletin said on Saturday.

With 346 more patients cured of the infection, the number of active cases in the region dropped to 1,038, 772 in Leh district and 266 in Kargil district, the bulletin released by the directorate of health services said.

Mizoram reports 5 new COVID-19 cases; tally rises to 2,162

Mizoram has reported five new COVID-19 cases, pushing the state's coronavirus caseload to 2,162, an official said on Saturday.

Two new cases were reported from Aizawl district, one from Lawngtlai district and two from Kolasib district, he said.

Of the five new patients, two are state residents and have no travel history while the remaining three patients, who are non-state residents, have come from Assam, the official said.

1,811 new COVID-19 cases in Telangana; Recovery rate over 87 per cent

Telangana recorded 1,811 new COVID-19 cases, taking the infection count to 2.10 lakh even as the recovery rate in the state climbed to over 87 per cent.

The toll mounted to 1,217 with nine more fatalities, a state government bulletin said on Saturday, providing data as of 8 PM on October 9.

The recovery rate stood at 87.01 per cent, while it was 85.7 per cent in the country, the bulletin said.

India reported 73,272 new coronavirus cases, taking the overall caseload to 69,79,423, while 59,88,822 people have recuperated so far, pushing the recovery rate to 85.81 per cent, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated Saturday.

The death toll due to COVID-19 climbed to 1,07,416 with 926 people succumbing to the disease in a span of 24 hours.

279 new COVID-19 cases in Arunachal Pradesh; tally rises to 11,760

At least 279 more people, including eight security personnel and two health care workers, have tested positive for COVID-19 in Arunachal Pradesh, pushing the tally to 11,760, a health department official said here on Saturday.

A 72-year-old man, who was diagnosed with the disease, died on way to the dedicated COVID-19 hospital in Chimpu, near here, on Thursday, taking the coronavirus death toll in the northeastern state to 23, State Surveillance Officer (SSO) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

24 new cases push COVID-19 tally of Andamans to 3,976

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands reported 24 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, pushing the coronavirus caseload in the Union territory to 3,976, an official said.

Twenty-one of the new cases were detected during contact tracing while three patients have travel history, he said.

Seventeen more people have been cured of the disease, the official said.

The Union territory now has 197 active COVID-19 cases, while 3,724 people have recovered from the disease and 55 patients have succumbed to the infection, he said.

The administration has so far sent 67,332 samples for COVID-19 tests, of which 67,314 reports have been received and 18 are awaited, the official added.
