3,254 new coronavirus patients were reported in Maharashtra on Wednesday, taking the count of cases in the state to 94,041, a health official said.

The state also recorded 149 COVID-related deaths which took the death toll to 3,438, he said.

On the other hand, 1,879 patients were discharged from hospitals during the day, taking the total number of recovered patients to 44,517, the official said.

Madhya Pradesh's coronavirus tally crosses 10,000-mark; death toll 427

The COVID-19 case count in Madhya Pradesh crossed 10,000-mark on Wednesday as 200 more people tested positive for the infection in the past 24 hours, health department officials said. The number of coronavirus positive patients now stands at 10,049, they said.

With seven more persons succumbing to the infection, the state death toll increased to 427, the officials said. Indore reported the highest 51 new cases, followed by 47 in Bhopal.

Two deaths were reported in Indore and one person each died in Bhopal, Sagar, Barwani, Rewa and Shajapur districts due to the infection.

No new coronavirus case was reported from 29 districts since Tuesday evening.

While the cases have been reported from 51 of total 52 districts, six of them did not have any active cases on Wednesday, health bulletin said.

28 new COVID-19 cases in Goa, count grows to 387

Goa reported 28 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, majority of them from a containment zone in Vasco town, the state health department said.

With these cases, the number of coronavirus patients in the state climbed to 387, it said. Of these 28 new cases, 24 were found in Mangor Hill

locality in Vasco, a COVID-19 hotspot in the state, the department said.

Delhi recorded1,501 fresh coronavirus cases on Wednesday, taking the COVID-19 tally in the city to over 32,000, and the death toll due to the disease mounted to 984, authorities said.

This is the second time when over 1,500 case have been reported in a day in Delhi.

28 CRPF personnel posted in Kashmir test COVID positive

As many as 28 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel posted in Kashmir tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday, officials said.

They said the personnel were found infected during a contact-tracing exercise after the death of a 44-year-old constable on June 6 when he succumbed to the disease.

Twenty-eight personnel in Kashmir have tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday, the officials said, adding they belong to the 90th battalion of the force where the deceased constable, a nursing assistant, was posted.

7 fresh COVID-19 cases in Manipur, count rises to 311

Seven more persons have tested positive for COVID-19 in Manipur, taking the state's tally of coronavirus cases to 311, officials said on Wednesday.

Five of the new patients are from Imphal East district while two are from Pherzawl district, a statement issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room said. All the new patients had recently returned to the state from different parts of the country and were placed under institutional quarantine, it said, adding that their contact-tracing has been initiated. Manipur has 248 active COVID-19 cases at present, the statement said.

With 17 fatalities, COVID-19 death toll climbs to 432 in Bengal; 343 fresh cases

Seventeen COVID-19 patients died in West Bengal on Wednesday, taking the death toll due to the disease to 432 in the state, the health department said in a bulletin. Thirteen of the fresh deaths were due to comorbidities, where coronavirus was incidental, it said, adding that the state has witnessed 288 such deaths so far.

The state also reported 343 fresh coronavirus cases during the day, including 110 from Kolkata, the bulletin said. The number of COVID-19 cases in West Bengal stands at 9,328 now, including 5,117 active ones. A total of 2,97,419 samples have so far been tested for the disease in the state.

The number of coronavirus cases in Ahmedabad district rose to 15,305 as 343 new cases were reported on Wednesday, said the Gujarat health

department. Death toll due to the pandemic in the district rose to 1,092 with 26 more fatalities, it added. Ahmedabad reported 343 out of 510 coronavirus patients detected in the state on Wednesday and 26 out of 34 deaths.

65 fresh cases in Kerala, tally now 2,160; toll mounts to 17

After witnessing a spike in infections over the past few days, Kerala reported only 65 fresh cases of COVID-19 as the total virus count touched 2,160 and the death toll climbed to 17 with the sample of an elderly man, who died three days ago, testing positive.

While 1,238 people are under treatment for the infection, 905 have recovered, including 57 who were discharged today, Health Minister K K Shailaja said.

6 resident doctors of Muzaffarnagar medical college test positive for coronavirus

Six resident doctors of Muzaffarnagar Medical College and Hospital among eight people tested positive for COVID-19 in the district on Wednesday, officials said.

They pointed out that the doctors were working in non-COVID wards of the hospital and their contacts are being traced. The total case count in the district has now gone up to 140.

Eleven more persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Mumbai's slum colony of Dharavi, taking the count to 1,964 on Wednesday, said an official of

the city civic body. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official said no new death was recorded in the slum-dominated area, leaving the coronavirus fatality tally unchanged at 73. He said the compounded daily case growth rate in Dharavi stood at 1.57 per cent, while the doubling rate was 44 days, showing a significant improvement in the COVID-19 situation in the sprawling slum colony.

 The novel coronavirus toll in Uttar Pradesh rose to 321 on Wednesday with the biggest single-day spike of 20 deaths, while 275 new cases of the pandemic took the tally to 11,610, the Health Department said.

There are 4,318 active cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and 6,971 people have recovered, Health Principal Secretary Amit Mohan Prasad said. There have been 321 COVID-19 deaths and the number of confirmed cases is 11,610, Prasad said.

Fresh case of COVID-19 in Nagaland, total rises to 128

A person tested positive for COVID-19 in Nagaland on Wednesday, taking the total number of cases in the state to 128, Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom said. Four patients also recovered during the day, bringing down the number of active cases to 114, officials said.

Of the 273 samples tested in the last 24 hours, one was found to be positive, Phom said, adding that the new patient was lodged at the Kohima quarantine centre.

Metropolitan Magistrate at Saket District Court tests positive for Covid-19

A Judge of Saket District Court Complex here has tested Covid-19 positive, said a circular on Wednesday. According to the circular issued by District Judge Poonam A Bamba, Metropolitan Magistrate Mayuri Singh tested positive for Covid-19 contagion on June 9.

The judicial officer had last attended the court on June 3, the circular said. District Judge Bamba directed the Caretaking Branch of the Saket Courts complex to immediately seal as also carry out sanitisation in the Magistrate's courtroom, Ahlmad (court staff) room and her chamber attached therewith.

218 new COVID-19 cases in Andhra Pradesh; tally reaches 5,247

The Covid-19 tally in Andhra Pradesh touched 5,247 on Wednesday as 218 new cases were added in the last 24 hours, with foreign returnees causing a spurt in the virus infection in the state.

Fifty six people who returned to the state from various foreign countries tested positive for coronavirus. Besides, 136 locals and 26 people from other states too contracted the virus, taking the state's gross to 5,247, the latest bulletin said.

The gross number includes 4,126 local, 933 from other states and 188 foreign returnees.

9,985 more COVID-19 cases in India, 279 deaths in last 24 hours

India on Wednesday reported a spike of 9,985 more COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the country's COVID-19 count to 2,76,583, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

279 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours taking the total death toll to 7,745.

The total number of active cases has reached 1,33,632 while 1,35,205 patients have recovered. While one person has migrated.

With 90,787 cases, Maharashtra reported the highest number of coronavirus cases in the country followed by Tamil Nadu with 34,914 cases.  

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 1,45,216 samples were tested in the last 24 hours while overall 50,61,332 samples have been tested so far.

Guwahati: COVID-19 cases kept on the upward path in all the eight northeastern states, while two more people - one each in Assam and Tripura - succumbed to the disease taking the region's toll to seven, officials said on Tuesday.

According to health officials in Guwahati, a 58-year-old man died in Assam due to Covid-19, taking the state's death toll to five.

The patient, who tested positive after returning from Chennai, died at Diphu Medical College and Hospital in southeastern Assam.

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb also announced said that a 42-year-old male from West Tripura also died on Tuesday afternoon.

"Doctors gave their best but failed to save his precious life. On May 1, he suffered a stroke and was a patient of hypertension," Deb, who also holds the Health Department, said in a tweet.

Tripura's Law and Education Minister Ratan Lal told the media that the state government would provide Rs 10 lakh to the family of the victim, who tested positive on June 3.

Earlier, a 50-year-old woman Covid-19 patient allegedly committed suicide at the Tripura government-run Govind Ballabh Pant Medical College and Hospital here on June 2.

The woman was also suffering from kidney-related ailments. Her death was termed as "unnatural death" by the government. "After the death, her swab sample, which was collected before her death, tested positive for Covid-19," said Nath.

The eight northeastern states so far recorded 4,426 positive cases, out of which 3,049 are active cases.

Assam tops the list with 2,937 (1,844 active) cases, followed by Tripura with 866 cases (670 active), Manipur with 304 cases (243 active), 127 cases (119 active) in Nagaland, 88 cases (87 active) in Mizoram, 57 cases (56 active) in Arunachal Pradesh, 34 cases (20 active) in Meghalaya and 13 cases (10 active) in Sikkim.

According to the state governments, the cases have gone up with the return of around four lakh natives from around India, and health officials predicted the number would go more as the testing of samples of the returnees continues.

A person tested positive for COVID-19 in Nagaland on Wednesday, taking the total number of cases in the state to 128, Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom said. Four patients also recovered during the day, bringing down the number of active cases to 114, officials said.

Of the 273 samples tested in the last 24 hours, one was found to be positive, Phom said, adding that the new patient was lodged at the Kohima quarantine centre.

Metropolitan Magistrate at Saket District Court tests positive for Covid-19

A Judge of Saket District Court Complex here has tested Covid-19 positive, said a circular on Wednesday. According to the circular issued by District Judge Poonam A Bamba, Metropolitan Magistrate Mayuri Singh tested positive for Covid-19 contagion on June 9.

The judicial officer had last attended the court on June 3, the circular said. District Judge Bamba directed the Caretaking Branch of the Saket Courts complex to immediately seal as also carry out sanitisation in the Magistrate's courtroom, Ahlmad (court staff) room and her chamber attached therewith.

218 new COVID-19 cases in Andhra Pradesh; tally reaches 5,247

The Covid-19 tally in Andhra Pradesh touched 5,247 on Wednesday as 218 new cases were added in the last 24 hours, with foreign returnees causing a spurt in the virus infection in the state.

Fifty six people who returned to the state from various foreign countries tested positive for coronavirus. Besides, 136 locals and 26 people from other states too contracted the virus, taking the state's gross to 5,247, the latest bulletin said.

The gross number includes 4,126 local, 933 from other states and 188 foreign returnees.

Nineteen staffers, including two doctors, at Udhampur district hospital in Jammu and Kashmir tested positive for coronavirus on Wednesday, officials said.

9,985 more COVID-19 cases in India, 279 deaths in last 24 hours

India on Wednesday reported a spike of 9,985 more COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the country's COVID-19 count to 2,76,583, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

279 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours taking the total death toll to 7,745.

The total number of active cases has reached 1,33,632 while 1,35,205 patients have recovered. While one person has migrated.

With 90,787 cases, Maharashtra reported the highest number of coronavirus cases in the country followed by Tamil Nadu with 34,914 cases.  

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 1,45,216 samples were tested in the last 24 hours while overall 50,61,332 samples have been tested so far.

With 86 new COVID-19 cases in Jharkhand on Tuesday, the total number of cases has reached to 1,416 in the state, Jharkhand Health Department said.

According to the official data, there are 849 active cases in the state so far.

Guwahati: COVID-19 cases kept on the upward path in all the eight northeastern states, while two more people - one each in Assam and Tripura - succumbed to the disease taking the region's toll to seven, officials said on Tuesday.

According to health officials in Guwahati, a 58-year-old man died in Assam due to Covid-19, taking the state's death toll to five.

The patient, who tested positive after returning from Chennai, died at Diphu Medical College and Hospital in southeastern Assam.

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb also announced said that a 42-year-old male from West Tripura also died on Tuesday afternoon.

"Doctors gave their best but failed to save his precious life. On May 1, he suffered a stroke and was a patient of hypertension," Deb, who also holds the Health Department, said in a tweet.

Tripura's Law and Education Minister Ratan Lal told the media that the state government would provide Rs 10 lakh to the family of the victim, who tested positive on June 3.

Earlier, a 50-year-old woman Covid-19 patient allegedly committed suicide at the Tripura government-run Govind Ballabh Pant Medical College and Hospital here on June 2.

The woman was also suffering from kidney-related ailments. Her death was termed as "unnatural death" by the government. "After the death, her swab sample, which was collected before her death, tested positive for Covid-19," said Nath.

The eight northeastern states so far recorded 4,426 positive cases, out of which 3,049 are active cases.

Assam tops the list with 2,937 (1,844 active) cases, followed by Tripura with 866 cases (670 active), Manipur with 304 cases (243 active), 127 cases (119 active) in Nagaland, 88 cases (87 active) in Mizoram, 57 cases (56 active) in Arunachal Pradesh, 34 cases (20 active) in Meghalaya and 13 cases (10 active) in Sikkim.

According to the state governments, the cases have gone up with the return of around four lakh natives from around India, and health officials predicted the number would go more as the testing of samples of the returnees continues.
