Odisha reports 1,220 new COVID-19 cases, 15 fresh fatalities
Odisha's COVID-19 tally rose to 3,05,000 on Wednesday as 1,220 more people tested positive for the infection, a health official said.
Fifteen fresh fatalities pushed the coastal state's coronavirus death toll to 1,469, he said.
As many as 703 new cases were reported in quarantine centres, while 517 infections were detected during contact tracing, the official said.
Khurda district, under which Bhubaneswar falls, registered the highest number of new cases at 134, followed by Sundergarh (119) and Cuttack (96), he said.

Mizoram has reported 61 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases in the state to 3217 on Wednesday.
As per the data published by the Government of Mizoram, "The number of active cases is at 562 while 2,526 people have been cured and discharged so far. Till date, two deaths have been reported in the state."

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) on Wednesday said that "India has scaled an unprecedented peak as the active COVID-19 cases have dropped below the 5-lakh mark for the first time after 106 days".
"This assumes significance in the context of many countries reporting a surge in their active caseload," the Ministry of Health tweeted.

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh's COVID-19 tally rose to 15,581 on Wednesday as 97 more people, including 32 security personnel, tested positive for the infection,
a senior health official said.
The Capital Complex region reported the highest number of new cases at 28, followed by East Siang (23) and Changlang (nine), State Surveillance Officer Dr Lobsang Jampa said.
"Twenty-seven Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) personnel, three Assam Rifles jawans and two Army men are among the new patients," he said.

New Delhi: India's COVID-19 cases went past 86 lakh on Wednesday, while the number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 80.13 lakh, pushing the national recovery rate to 92.79 per cent, according to the Union Health Ministry's data.
With 44,281 more people testing positive for Coronavirus in a span of 24 hours, the infection tally mounted to 86,36, 011, while the death toll rose to 1,27,571 after 512 new fatalities were reported, the data updated at 8 am showed.
The number of active cases dropped below five lakh.
At present, there are 4,94,657 active cases in the country which comprise 5.73 per cent of the total caseload, the data stated.
The total recoveries have surged to 80,13,783, pushing the national recovery rate to 92.79 per cent, while COVID-19casefatality rate stands at 1.48 per cent.
India's COVID-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7,30 lakh on August 23 and 40 lakh on September 5.
It went past 50 lakh on September 16, 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11 and crossed 80 lakh on October 29.
According to the ICMR, a cumulative total of 12,07,69,151 samples have been tested so far with 11,53,294samples being tested on Tuesday.
