One more patient discharged from AIIMS Chhattisgarh

One more COVID-19 patient was discharged from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Raipur in Chhattisgarh on Friday after recovering from the infection, health officials here said.

The total number of cured and discharged cases has now reached to 24 in the state, while the number of active cases stands at 12.

One more person tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday, taking the total number of coronavirus cases in Himachal Pradesh to 37, a senior official said.

The person who hails from Chamba district tested positive at Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College (RPGMC) in Kangra district, officials said.

India's COVID-19 cases surge to 13,835

With 1,076 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours and 32 deaths, India's total count of coronavirus cases has surged to 13,835, said the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Friday.

The total cases are inclusive of 1,766 cured and discharged patients, one migrated and 452 deaths. At present, there are 11,616 active COVID-19 cases in the country.

Before the lockdown, the doubling rate of COVID-19 cases was about three days, but according to the data of the past 7 days, the doubling rate of cases now stands at 6.2 days, said Lav Aggarwal, Joint Secretary, Health and Family Welfare.

Aggarwal said that as many as 5 lakh rapid antibody testing kits are being distributed to States and Districts where a high case burden has been observed.

"A total of 1,919 dedicated COVID-19 hospitals with 1.73 lakh isolation beds, 21,800 ICU beds readied in India," he added.

A total of 1,007 new COVID-19 cases and 23 deaths have been reported in the country in the last 24 hours, informed Lav Agrawal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Health.

Coronavirus positive man dies in Rajasthan, 38 fresh virus cases in state

A 56-year-old man suffering from coronavirus died in Rajasthan, which reported 38 fresh positive cases of the virus on Friday.

Officials said the man was found coronavirus positive on Wednesday and died at the MDM Hospital in Jodhpur late on Thursday night.

He also had cardiac complications,they said.

With this, 16 deaths have occurred in the state due to coronavirus.

Rajasthan has so far reported 1,169 cases of the virus.

Katghora, located around 200 km from the state capital Raipur, has emerged as the top COVID-19 hotspot in Chhattisgarh with 27 confirmed cases reported so far from the town.

Six-month-old girl among three fresh COVID-19 cases in Bihar, total reaches 83

Three persons, including a six- month-old infant girl, have tested positive for COVID-19 in Bihar, taking the total number of coronavirus cases in the
state to 83, a top official said on Friday.

According to Principal Secretary, Health, Sanjay Kumar, all the three cases reported late Thursday the baby girl besides a woman aged 21 years and a 55-year-old man  have been reported from Munger district.

226 new coronavirus positive cases in Madhya Pradesh

Eight persons including two brothers were reported dead in the past 24 hours, taking the toll of COVID-19 patients to 61 in Madhya Pradesh, according to the state health department. With 226 persons testing positive on Thursday, the number of coronavirus positive cases rose to 1,164.

The virus has now expanded its footprint to 26 out of 52 districts of the state.

Indore has reported the highest 707 positive cases in the state with 163 new cases being reported in the last 24 hours, health officials said.In Bhopal, 29 more cases were reported, which took the tally of COVID-19 patients in the state capital to 196.

With 17 more persons testing positive for COVID-19 on Thursday, the number of cases in Khandwa has gone up to 33, fourth highest in the state after Indore, Bhopal and Khargone, said the health department bulletin.

Of the 61 COVID-19 deaths in the state 45 have occurred in Indore alone. So far, five persons have died in Bhopal, six in Ujjain, three in Khargone and one each in Chhindwara and Dewas.

Morena district has recorded 14 positive cases, Jabalpur 13 (one new), Ujjain 30, Hoshangabad 16, Khargone 39, Barwani 22, Raisen 08 (four new), Gwalior six, Khandwa 33 (17 new), Dewas 17 (two new), Sheopur 03, Vidisha 13, Chhindwara 04, Satna two, Dhar 6 (three new), Shivpuri two, Ratlam 12, Shajapur 5 (one new), Mandsaur 07 (five new), Agar Malwa 4 (one new) and Betul, Tikamgarh, Alirajpur and Sagar one each, health officials said.

So far 65 patients have recovered and returned home, the officials said. The health officials also said that 405 containment areas have been declared across the affected cities in the state.

AP: 5 more coronavirus reported in Srikalahasti temple

Five more COVID-19 cases have been reported in Srikalahasti, taking the total cases in the town to 10.

The five new cases include three men and two women. One patient had returned from Delhi while a woman is a contact of the person, who had already tested COVID-19 positive.

It is yet to be ascertained how the other three contracted coronavirus, officials said, adding that the new patients have been sent to a quarantine centre in Varadayyapalem.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in Andhra Pradesh has reached 534, including 500 active cases, according to the state health department on Thursday.

New Delhi: The death toll due to coronavirus rose to 437 and the number of cases to 13,387 in the country on Friday, according to the Union Health Ministry.

While the number of active COVID-19 cases stood at 11,201, as many as 1,748 people have been cured and discharged, and one had migrated, it said.  

The total number of positive cases includes 76 foreign nationals.

Seventeen deaths have been reported since Thursday evening - seven from Maharashtra, six from Delhi, three from West Bengal and one from Tamil Nadu.

Of the total 437 deaths, Maharashtra tops the tally with 194 fatalities, followed by Madhya Pradesh at 53, Delhi 38, Gujarat 36 and Telangana 18.  

Tamil Nadu has reported 15 deaths while Andhra Pradesh has 14 deaths. Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka have reported 13 deaths each.

West Bengal has registered ten fatalities. Four persons have lost lives in Jammu and Kashmir. Kerala, Haryana and Rajasthan have recorded three deaths each. Jharkhand has reported two deaths.

Meghalaya, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha and Assam reported one fatality each, according to the health ministry's latest data.

However, a tally of figures reported by various states as on Thursday evening showed at least 444 deaths.

There has been a lag in the Union Health Ministry figures, compared to the number of deaths announced by different states, which officials attribute to procedural delays in assigning the cases to individual states.

According to the ministry's data updated in the morning, the highest number of confirmed cases in the country are from Maharashtra at 3,205, followed by Delhi at 1,640 and Tamil Nadu at 1,267.

COVID-19 cases have gone up to 1,131 in Rajasthan, followed by 1,120 in Madhya Pradesh, 930 in Gujarat and 805 in Uttar Pradesh.

Telangana has 700 cases, followed by Andhra Pradesh at 534 and Kerala at 395.

The number of novel coronavirus cases has risen to 315 in Karnataka, 314 in Jammu and Kashmir, 255 in West Bengal, 205 in Haryana and 186 in Punjab.

Bihar has reported 80 cases and Odisha 60. Thirty-seven people were infected with the virus in Uttarakhand, while Himachal Pradesh and Assam have registered 35 cases each.

Chhattisgarh have registered 33 cases, Jharkhand 28, Chandigarh 21 and Ladakh 18. Eleven cases have been reported from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Meghalaya, Goa and Puducherry have reported seven COVID-19 infections each. Manipur and Tripura have two cases each, while Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh have reported a case each.

"State-wise distribution is subject to further verification and reconciliation," the ministry said on its website.

The website also mentions that a COVID-19 patient from Nagaland has been shifted to Assam.

A total of 1,007 new COVID-19 cases and 23 deaths have been reported in the country in the last 24 hours, informed Lav Agrawal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Health.

The ratio between recovered patients and deaths stands at 80:20 in India which is higher than that in several other counties.

Meanwhile, the doubling rate of cases which was about 3 days before lockdown has now gone up to 6.2 days. The doubling rate in 19 States, Union Territories are even lower than average doubling rate.

These states and union territories include Kerala, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Ladakh, Puducherry, Delhi, Bihar, Odisha, TN, Andhra Pradesh , UP, Punjab, Assam, Tripura etc.

Coronavirus positive man dies in Rajasthan, 38 fresh virus cases in state

A 56-year-old man suffering from coronavirus died in Rajasthan, which reported 38 fresh positive cases of the virus on Friday.

Officials said the man was found coronavirus positive on Wednesday and died at the MDM Hospital in Jodhpur late on Thursday night.

He also had cardiac complications,they said.

With this, 16 deaths have occurred in the state due to coronavirus.

Rajasthan has so far reported 1,169 cases of the virus.

Six-month-old girl among three fresh COVID-19 cases in Bihar, total reaches 83

Three persons, including a six- month-old infant girl, have tested positive for COVID-19 in Bihar, taking the total number of coronavirus cases in the
state to 83, a top official said on Friday.

According to Principal Secretary, Health, Sanjay Kumar, all the three cases reported late Thursday the baby girl besides a woman aged 21 years and a 55-year-old man  have been reported from Munger district.

226 new coronavirus positive cases in Madhya Pradesh

Eight persons including two brothers were reported dead in the past 24 hours, taking the toll of COVID-19 patients to 61 in Madhya Pradesh, according to the state health department. With 226 persons testing positive on Thursday, the number of coronavirus positive cases rose to 1,164.

The virus has now expanded its footprint to 26 out of 52 districts of the state.

Indore has reported the highest 707 positive cases in the state with 163 new cases being reported in the last 24 hours, health officials said.In Bhopal, 29 more cases were reported, which took the tally of COVID-19 patients in the state capital to 196.

With 17 more persons testing positive for COVID-19 on Thursday, the number of cases in Khandwa has gone up to 33, fourth highest in the state after Indore, Bhopal and Khargone, said the health department bulletin.

Of the 61 COVID-19 deaths in the state 45 have occurred in Indore alone. So far, five persons have died in Bhopal, six in Ujjain, three in Khargone and one each in Chhindwara and Dewas.

Morena district has recorded 14 positive cases, Jabalpur 13 (one new), Ujjain 30, Hoshangabad 16, Khargone 39, Barwani 22, Raisen 08 (four new), Gwalior six, Khandwa 33 (17 new), Dewas 17 (two new), Sheopur 03, Vidisha 13, Chhindwara 04, Satna two, Dhar 6 (three new), Shivpuri two, Ratlam 12, Shajapur 5 (one new), Mandsaur 07 (five new), Agar Malwa 4 (one new) and Betul, Tikamgarh, Alirajpur and Sagar one each, health officials said.

So far 65 patients have recovered and returned home, the officials said. The health officials also said that 405 containment areas have been declared across the affected cities in the state.

AP: 5 more coronavirus reported in Srikalahasti temple

Five more COVID-19 cases have been reported in Srikalahasti, taking the total cases in the town to 10.

The five new cases include three men and two women. One patient had returned from Delhi while a woman is a contact of the person, who had already tested COVID-19 positive.

It is yet to be ascertained how the other three contracted coronavirus, officials said, adding that the new patients have been sent to a quarantine centre in Varadayyapalem.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in Andhra Pradesh has reached 534, including 500 active cases, according to the state health department on Thursday.

New Delhi: The death toll due to coronavirus rose to 437 and the number of cases to 13,387 in the country on Friday, according to the Union Health Ministry.

While the number of active COVID-19 cases stood at 11,201, as many as 1,748 people have been cured and discharged, and one had migrated, it said.  

The total number of positive cases includes 76 foreign nationals.

Seventeen deaths have been reported since Thursday evening - seven from Maharashtra, six from Delhi, three from West Bengal and one from Tamil Nadu.

Of the total 437 deaths, Maharashtra tops the tally with 194 fatalities, followed by Madhya Pradesh at 53, Delhi 38, Gujarat 36 and Telangana 18.  

Tamil Nadu has reported 15 deaths while Andhra Pradesh has 14 deaths. Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka have reported 13 deaths each.

West Bengal has registered ten fatalities. Four persons have lost lives in Jammu and Kashmir. Kerala, Haryana and Rajasthan have recorded three deaths each. Jharkhand has reported two deaths.

Meghalaya, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha and Assam reported one fatality each, according to the health ministry's latest data.

However, a tally of figures reported by various states as on Thursday evening showed at least 444 deaths.

There has been a lag in the Union Health Ministry figures, compared to the number of deaths announced by different states, which officials attribute to procedural delays in assigning the cases to individual states.

According to the ministry's data updated in the morning, the highest number of confirmed cases in the country are from Maharashtra at 3,205, followed by Delhi at 1,640 and Tamil Nadu at 1,267.

COVID-19 cases have gone up to 1,131 in Rajasthan, followed by 1,120 in Madhya Pradesh, 930 in Gujarat and 805 in Uttar Pradesh.

Telangana has 700 cases, followed by Andhra Pradesh at 534 and Kerala at 395.

The number of novel coronavirus cases has risen to 315 in Karnataka, 314 in Jammu and Kashmir, 255 in West Bengal, 205 in Haryana and 186 in Punjab.

Bihar has reported 80 cases and Odisha 60. Thirty-seven people were infected with the virus in Uttarakhand, while Himachal Pradesh and Assam have registered 35 cases each.

Chhattisgarh have registered 33 cases, Jharkhand 28, Chandigarh 21 and Ladakh 18. Eleven cases have been reported from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Meghalaya, Goa and Puducherry have reported seven COVID-19 infections each. Manipur and Tripura have two cases each, while Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh have reported a case each.

"State-wise distribution is subject to further verification and reconciliation," the ministry said on its website.

The website also mentions that a COVID-19 patient from Nagaland has been shifted to Assam.
