Coronavirus: Doctors' team will fly to Italy to test stranded Indians, V Muraleedaran

Union Minister of State for External Affairs & Parliamentary Affairs while interacting with the media persons said that a doctors' team will rush to Italy to test Indians who are stranded there after the Coronavirus outbreak.

New Delhi: Indian External Affairs Minister for State on Wednesday said that a doctors' team will rush to Italy to test Indians who are stranded there after the Coronavirus outbreak.

While speaking to journalists here in Delhi, he said the Union government has formed a group of Ministers to take decisions to prevent Coronavirus spread in India.

"Health, Civil Aviation, External Affairs ministers and secretaries are in the team. The team is being monitored by the PM. The team has been updating facts every 24 hours. The team played a crucial role in bringing Indians back from China, Japan and Iran. It is also working to bring back stranded Indians from Italy, "Muraleedaran said.

He further added that the IAF aircraft has brought Indians who were tested negative in Iran to India.

"We cannot bring people who are infected with the Coronavirus and people tested negative in the same flight, so, we brought a first batch of people who were tested negative. The people who arrived here will also have to be quarantined," the External Affairs Minister added.

Muraleedaran also said that a medical team will leave for Italy to test stranded Indians.

"As Italy is witnessing many cases of Coronavirus, a medical team will leave for Italy shortly. The team will treat them and take proper steps to bring them back to India," he said.

He also stated that External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will speak about the issue in the Rajya Sabha.
