New Delhi: Congress party, on Sunday, slammed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for organizing Union Home Minister Amit Shah's rally in poll-bound Bihar amid coronavirus pandemic, alleging that the ruling party is doing "money politics" to win Rajya Sabha seats.

"Bihar is witnessing high positivity rate of COVID-19, even after having a very low testing rate. People of Bihar need COVID treatment, stranded migrant workers need to sent back home. It is necessary to strengthen the health facilities in the state but BJP is busy in organizing virtual election rallies amid this pandemic," said Congress MP, Akhilesh Prasad Singh.

He alleged, "Now the BJP is doing politics only on the basis of money. It is not just in Bihar but also in Gujarat, where BJP is trying to do horse-trading just to win Rajya Sabha seats."

The Congress leader also claimed that BJP workers distributed mobile phones and set up LED screens in all the district headquarters of the state so that more people can watch the rally.

"BJP has spent more than Rs 10 crores over this rally but they can't even spend Rs 100 to provide food to the migrant workers," said Akhilesh Prasad.

He lashed out at the state government saying that more than 2/3rd of the total migrant workers are still stranded at various states, sugar mills are closed, health infrastructure needs to be strengthened but, at this time of crisis, elections rallies are being organized.

"This is not a time of 'beating thalis', it is the time to serve our country," he asserted.
