New Delhi: Congress on Wednesday refuted Union Minister Piyush Goyal's claim that it plotted "a conspiracy" to project "Hindu terror" and also questioned former Mumbai police commissioner Rakesh Maria's assertion through his book 'Let Me Say It Now' that efforts were made to project 26/11 Mumbai terror attack as a case of Hindu terrorism.
"Every word of Piyush Goyal is wrong. He is lying. There's nothing called Hindu terror," senior Congress leader and party spokesperson Meem Afzal told ETV Bharat here.
He said in case Maria has any proof to support his claim, he should present it.
Similarly, former union minister and senior Congress leader Manish Tewari, in a press conference here, said why did Maria take so long to reveal it.
"He should be asked as to why he did not reveal it during investigation/trial/appeals which ultimately led to terrorist Ajmal Kasab's hanging," the Tewari said.
Commissioner Maria in his book asserted that If all had gone well, Ajmal Kasab would have been dead with a red string tied around his wrist like a Hindu.
In his book 'Let Me Say It Now', Maria claimed that had Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) succeeded in its plan, 26/11 Mumbai attacker Ajmal Kasab would have died as a Hindu named Samir Chaudhary.
According to an excerpt from the book, if everything went according to plan, Kasab would have died as Chaudhary and the media would have blamed "Hindu terrorists" for the attack. He also claimed fake identity cards with Indian addresses were planted for 26/11 terrorists.
