New Delhi: Communist Party of India (CPI) General Secretary D Raja on Friday suggested that Congress should have a deep "introspection" over its ongoing downfall.

Raja gave his reaction hours after Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath submitted his resignation to the governor Lalji Tandon in Bhopal.

"The exit of Jyotiraditya Scindia along with several MLAs was the beginning of the downfall of Kamal Nath government. And BJP was looking for such an opportunity," said Raja while referring the present situation of Madhya Pradesh.

It's really a time for Congress to introspect into its party's strategy, said Raja.

"Congress should give a thorough introspection over the happenings with the party in several states. It's not only in Madhya Pradesh but the Congress witnessed a similar situation in many other states too," said Raja.

The CPI leader also criticised the BJP for the instability in Madhya Pradesh.

"This party (BJP) always tries to form government everywhere by hook and crook," said Raja.

Over 25 months after he took over as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Kamal Nath resigned from the top post on Friday. He submitted his resignation to the governor ahead of the floor test in the state Assembly.

It is to be noted that the Congress had faced a similar situation in other states like Karnataka, Goa, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and even in Manipur where the elected government came into the minority.
