New Delhi: Braving cold weather, hundreds of people gathered outside the iconic Jama Masjid in Old Delhi on Friday to protest against the amended citizenship law.
Former Delhi MLA Shoaib Iqbal, Congress leader Alka Lamba were among those who joined the demonstrations.
Hitting out at Shoaib Iqbal, BJP leader Manoj Tiwari said all the protests had to come to an end. Political parties are misleading common people, but after PM 's rally and Home Ministers efforts, the citizens now know the truth.
While speaking to ETV Bharat, Tiwari said, " The confusion spread by the opposition parties regarding CAA is over now. BJP leaders are making every effort to make people understand the meaning and importance of the Act.
"The political parties are protesting intentionally to mislead people. Minorities from Pakistan are been victimised and that is why we are giving Citizenship to them, which the opposition doesn't want. The opposition wants them to suffer, BJP doesn't."

"This protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) is actually a conspiracy. BJP is moving ahead with the philosophy of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas'. But some elements are hell-bent on misguiding the public. They will get an answer from the public on the issue," Tiwari said.
The Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, grants citizenship to Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Parsis, Buddhists and Christians fleeing religious persecution from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh and who came to India on or before December 31, 2014.
He added," Opposition is arranging protests and opposing CAA as its a vote-bank politics for them. BJP is against violence and is spreading the message to the public to stay away from damage."
