Congress indicates disciplinary action against Itish Pradhan

Itish Pradhan, convenor of Odisha-unit of NSUI, may get punished for criticizing Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik in public. Congress says he could have aired his grievances, if there were any, in a party forum.

New Delhi: Indicating disciplinary action against Itish Pradhan, convenor of Odisha-unit of NSUI for his alleged outburst against Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik in public, Congress Odisha in-charge Jeetendra Singh on Saturday said his act was deplorable as he could have taken up the issues in a party forum.

Interacting with the media persons here at the Congress headquarters along with Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik, Singh said Pradhan's act of criticising another party leader publicly was not acceptable.

Patnaik, who was in the national capital to meet Congress interim President Sonia Gandhi, told reporters that Itish leveling aligations against me shows his frustration.

" He had contested the assembly elections and lost it by a huge margin. He is trying to blame me for that. I don't want to give importance to that," he said.

In Odisha on Thursday last, Itish had told media persons that Patnaik had joined hands with BJD and promoted dynastic politics by giving ticket to his son to contest Lok Sabha polls from Balasore constituency.

“The anti-party activities of OPCC president will not be tolerated anymore. We will give him sleepless nights and not allow him to enter Odisha,” he was quoted as saying in media reports.

Intro:New Delhi: Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) Chief Niranjan Patnaik dismissed the outburst against him, on Saturday, by the convenor of state-unit of NSUI, Itish Pradhan, by saying that it is a manifestation of his frustration.


Body:Calling Itish Pardhan a 'kid', Niranjan said, "The outburst of Itish shows his frustration as he has lost the Assembly Elections with a huge margin. I don't want to give importance to that."

While speaking to the media over the charges made by Itish Pradhan, Jitendra Singh, Odisha Congress incharge, said, "I didn't discussed it during today's meeting but Congress party took it very seriously. I've got all the information regarding these press conferences and it has been sent to the Secretary incharge of NSUI. A disciplinary action will be taken by NSUI as soon as possible."

During a press conference, Itish told media that Patnaik has joined hands with BJD and promoted dynastic politics by giving ticket to his son for Lok Sabha polls from Balasore constituency.

Niranjan Patnaik had a meeting with Jitendra Singh, incharge of Odisha Congress, on Saturday, regarding the preparations for the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatama Gandhi, as he didn't attended the meeting taken by Congress President Sonia Gandhi with all the PCC Chiefs and CLP leaders, recently.

Congress is soon to protest against the economic slowdown, all over the country. Patnaik told the media that apparantly the agitation will be done from October 15 to 25 on the issue of economic slowdown. Also, a General body meeting has been done on September 20-25 over the preparations for Gandhi Jayanti celebrations and agitation over economic slowdown.


Conclusion:"We want to show the real face of BJP government and BJD government in front of the Citizens of our country as both the parties have come together and now Congress has a lot of responsibilities over their shoulders being a opposition party," said Jitendra Singh.
