Congress' comment on Savarkar would prove last nail in its coffin: VHP

VHP has reacted sharply against Congress for its comment on Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, wherein it allegedly claimed that the Hindutva leader had a homosexual relationship with Mahatma Gandhi's killer Nathuram Godse.

New Delhi: Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Friday attacked the Congress for its alleged offensive comment on Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, saying the false comment would prove the "last nail in its coffin."

Speaking to ETV Bharat in Delhi, VHP spokesperson Vinod Bansal said that the Congress makes baseless statements and the party has always been against the national symbols.

He was reacting to a booklet, named 'How brave was Veer Savarkar', allegedly distributed in an All India Congress Seva Dal training camp in Bhopal.

The booklet claims that the veteran Hindutva leader had a homosexual relationship with Mahatma Gandhi's killer Nathuram Godse.

Bansal said the dream of Congress-free India would be realised soon as the party has lost its relevance. He said by making such a statement the Congress has revealed its real character.

Meanwhile, Ranjeet Savarkar, grandson of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, has demanded an immediate ban on the booklet.

Body:विनोद बंसल ने कहा कि जब तक कांग्रेस गांधी परिवार से बाहर नहीं निकलेगा तब तक इस पार्टी का जीवित रहना संभव नहीं है। भगवा पर हमला मंदिरों पर हमला और इस मातृभूमि के वीर सपूतों पर तथ्य विहीन टिप्पणी कांग्रेस की संस्कृति रही है और वीर सावरकर के बारे में इस तरह की बात करके कांग्रेस ने अपने चरित्र का परिचय दिया है।
