New Delhi: Condemning Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for her comment on PMC bank scam that 'the Union Government has nothing to do with it', the Congress on Thursday asked if the government can say so when it borrows money from the banks.
"The government is playing with the emotions of the people and they will respond it soon," Congress spokesperson Meem Afzal told ETV Bharat here.
He said how the government can distance itself from something that is directly related to the people of the country.
Afzal said people are already suffering and the government was trying to distance itself from issues of public concern.
"It's not done. People will respond to it in the upcoming elections in several states," he said.
He also said that patriotism was there earlier also but the government was playing with emotions of the people and was not doing anything to contain inflation.
