New Delhi: Congress party on Sunday attacked Modi government for not acting upon the reported Chinese occupation on Indian land and their construction across Line of Actual Control, which can be a matter of serious concern for nation's security and territorial integrity.

"The advent of Chinese occupation on the Indian land has become a constant challenge. China has not only occupied the Depsong Plains and Pangong Tso Lake, but also there is a clear sense of danger from China's additional military construction," said Congress Chief Spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala.

He alleged, "Prime Minister and his government is engaged in creating a network of illusions through media only about Chinese adventurism and occupation rather than taking a firm decision to maintain the status quo ante. The distractions being spread by the Modi Government is neither service nor patriotism."

While citing the recent factual reports on Chinese transgressions, Congress leader stated that China is building construction at Depsang and Daulat Beg Oldi, while creating obstructions for patrolling of Indian Army from Patrolling Point 10 to 13.

He also added that China has captured Finger 8 to 4 within 8 km of India border and there are about 3,000 Chinese soldiers in that area. Reportedly, China has converted the civilian airstrip located in its win area near Depsong into a military airstrip and accumulated 2 armed divisions close to Indian territory while collecting artillery there.

While mentioning about PM's statement, which he made over Chinese intrusion into Indian territory, after All-party meeting, Surjewala said that all the facts are in contradiction to those remarks and asked whether PM has "lied" over the matter.

He raised questions to the Center over the continuation of construction work by Chinese Army across the LAC, saying, "PM should come forward to take the nation into confidence about the matter and to share its the strategy to attain the status quo ante, how the Government propose to push them back and what is the way forward?"

Surjewala also mentioned the address of Defense Minister Rajnath Singh during his visit to Leh, where he said that talks with China are underway but he cannot guarantee at what extent it can be resolved. The Congress leader said, "What does this statement of country's Defence Minister mean? Has the Modi Government accepted that they cannot resolve this matter?"
