New Delhi: Amidst speculations on who would be the chief ministerial candidate for Mahagathbandhan, Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) secretary-general and spokesman Madhaw Anand has said every leader associated with the alliance has the "capability" to lead it but the face for the post would be decided in due course of time.
Interacting with ETV Bharat here, Anand said the family of Mahagathbandhan was increasing day by day and the alliance would contest the upcoming Bihar assembly unitedly with all its might.
"Everyone is having the capacity to become the chief minister candidate of the Grand alliance. The decision on CM face will be taken in due course of time," Anand said.
Talking about his party chief Upendra Kushwaha's recently concluded fast unto death protest, he said the protest had support from all parties of the Mahagathbandhan and it was not done to secure power.
Kushwaha, who was on fast unto death demanding land for two Kendriya Vidyalayas in the state, had left NDA and resigned from ministry for the cause of the people, he said, stressing that his leader does not believe in politics for power.
While the main contest is set to be between the BJP-JD(U) and RJD-Congress-RLSP led Grand Alliance or Mahagathbandhan, smaller regional parties are also looking to grab voters’ attention in the state where assembly elections are due next year.
In the 2015 Assembly elections, the RJD had emerged as the single largest party winning 80 seats, the JD(U) 71 and the BJP 53. The Congress bagged 27 seats in the 243-seat Bihar Assembly.
However, Nitish who was then part of the Mahagathbandhan formed the government with RJD. Later he opted out of the alliance in 2017 to join hands with the BJP within 24 hours of resigning from the CM’s post.
