New Delhi: In a first, Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi has allowed the Central Bureau of Investigation to prosecute a sitting judge of the Allahabad High Court, Justice SN Shukla.
Justice Shukla was found guilty of doing favours to a private medical college in the year 2017 by a panel of Judges.
The CBI had written to the Chief Justice seeking permission to investigate the matter.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, senior advocate Adish Agarwal said that the CJI should have not permitted the CBI to investigate the matter, especially against a sitting high court judge.
He said this decision can also be challenged considering it being an executive one.
Agarwal said this decision poses a threat to the judiciary of our country.
